I live pretty much in a mountain, at the side of the road, and my house it's in a wide downhill left turn, semi's go crazy with the Jake's, and it sounds so freaking good, sometimes it's annoying because it's a pretty semi busy course but I still love it

From a diesel mechanic to a possible driver, plz do and use that jake as much as possible. Changing brakes takes a hell of a lot longer than on a sedan and pricey as hell.

I always heard this sound at night when I was growing up, I didn't know what was but I always thought it was a neat sound (I live near a railroad too so noises are normal) but now knowing that it's a jake brake definitely makes the sound even more interesting.

I don't care about the sound, just slow me down when coming down a steep down grade and when on some parts of 280 and some parts of 80 in Jersey.

I live close to I-20 here in Texas, near Dallas. I've heard that sound for years and never thought anything of it. But I noticed some of our small towns have "NO ENGINE BRAKE BY CITY ORDINANCE" signs, and I was like "what does that mean?" So I came here. 😁 That's all they're complaining about? Guess I don't see the big deal. To me it's no different than downshifting an old pickup truck for basically the same reason. I actually like the sound of it....but I'm from the "Smokey And The Bandit" generation. 😀

I live next to a two lane blacktop with a small hill and I swear all hours of the day and night these super truckers come by with that damn jake blaring! I’ll admit some sounds ok but hearing it day and very early in the morning sucks!! Come on drivers give it a rest especially on a these small hills in western NC!
