Your choice to take half. They advertise the before tax because it sounds better and gets more people talking about and buy more tickets. Other countries take the taxes before they advertise the jackpot size.

You get the full amount only if you take payments over 25 years. If you want to take a lump sum, you get about half. And depending on the state you live in, you have to pay tax, which could be as high as 50% depending on the amount you have won.

When you taker the lump sum your winnings are reduced/ The lump sum is only 61% of the advertised price. So from the 8.2 million was reduced by 39% to roughly 5 million. Taxes further reduced the amount to 2.3 million

There's a Netflix show called Glow, it's about a women wrestling show, and it's so good. Maybe he should have gone down Netflix route, if everyone loves that show, I'm sure it would have opened the doors for him also.

@@Josh-vs7gx I agree-- however, 3 out of every 4 dollars paid into lottery, go into government funds. No game in Las Vegas is allowed to keep so much. Slot machines are allowed to keep no more than 15% of collections; however lottery is allowed to keep 75%.
