LOTR bloopers: This made Viggo Mortensen SCARED of the Uruk-hais

In Fellowship of the Ring, Viggo Mortensen, who played Aragorn, found the portrayal of Uruk-hais so realistic that it unnerved him. Richard Taylor's impassioned speech to the stuntmen playing the Uruk-hais about merciless killing added to the intensity, making Mortensen and others hilariously uneasy during filming.

It was still prop knife with everything blunted not sharp one. Still would have hurt definetly if he would have hit Viggo especially if it would have went straight to his face. The actor actually did it by mistake it was the knife he was meant to throw, but because he couldnt see very well because of the prosthetics he accidently threw it at Viggo when he was meant to throw it way past him, and they likely would have just used camera angles, and such to make it look like its aimed straight at him

"Move forward with the intention you are going to kill." This is what so many fight scenes these days lack, intent (or at least the appearance of). It's painfully obvious that a stunt man isn't trying to hit the actor while also allowing themselves to be hit. It makes both the hero and the villains look silly and incompetent, and the villains never come across as a real threat taking away any sense of tension.

All these years I always thought there is something special about the orcs/Uruks in the classic lotr films, about how fucking mean they look, unlike any other "villain army" in any other movie. Doesn’t say much, that is true for literally every movie in existence other than lotr. the hobbit movies weren’t bad, but it was a film adaptation of a short children’s novel. No matter how they did that it would never compare to lotr.

@@TheOnlyJohnAbraham I agree that making 3 movies out of that short book was a bad idea (and probably purely motivated by making more money). However, even if that was corrected I don't see a world where the improved Hobbit movie would be as good as LotR. The story is still more of a children's book. (I do like it though! I just don't think it could ever compare to lotr, which was the original comment. "the difference is that the hobbit movies werent that good")

I miss the days when mild pain or injury was something to endure so as not to look weak and to maintain your sense of pride instead of just being seen as an opportunity to sue, as it is now. Not all masculinity is toxic. This legendary film was made on busted teeth, broken ribs, eviscerated feet, and dislocated knees. The actors who brought to life the faces of “The Lord of the Rings” are some of the most respectable people on this planet
