I never messed with Lost back in the day, I have recently decided I like it - but I remember Daniel from "Star Trek: Enterprise" - and he sounds more regular-ass American than I do lol ... completely different than a Lost Korean Who Can't Speak English And Is Stuck On An Island lol.

@dandesade She isn't struggling! She is pausing when trying to think of examples of her input. Her English is perfectly native and fluent, the only trace of accent can be heard sometimes in the way she pronounces "s" (also, devoicing where it should be a "z" at the end of a word), but if she wasn't Korean, this would be considered a lisp. I've listened to many interviews with her speaking English, and it's perfectly natively fluent throughout.

I am English (in London) but even I realize that Korea is a very distinct culture and a homogenous race of people in a small peninsular territory. I have spent 12 years in Asia and I am always interested in anything about China and Japan. But I only visited Korea recently - it's a lovely country with admirable people. So different from the Chinese! So different from the Japanese! Courteous, strong, sincere, genuine. Koreans are NOT some kind of "sub-category" of East Asians. Crazy idea.

@pokemonfan4ever11 In my opinion, Jin and Sun started out as a traditionally Confucian, my initial perception of Jin and Sun embodied the traditional Confucian values not unique to a specific nation in the Orient. Sure, they were Korean. But from what I saw, nothing they did was unique to Korea and not also present in Japan or China. Confucian values, Sun's father as a mob boss (a la Triads or Yakuza) stereotype, their home in Korea or the traditional temple where they wedded.

I think the reason you've gotten 6 thumbs down sofar (none contributed by me), is because it sounds like you're saying it's okay to lump these unique and distinct groups (though admittedly, superficially similar) together. There is a lot of history and politics regarding inter-Asian relations, and to lump everyone together would be to downplay the significance of each culture.
