How would you compare to the firewire Midas??

If an Intermediate/Beginner surfed was looking to improve their vertical surfing would you recommend the RNF Redux or the Cali Twin? Surfing mostly 2-4 ft waves. Beach break in Cali.

Shasta, those boards are very similar. The Cali Twin has a parallel outline that will make it surf more like a twin. The RNF will surf more like a standard shortboard. Either will work for what you are looking for, the California Twin has been a blast all summer in very similar surf for what that's worth.

Aside from the fin configuration, what's the difference between this and the rnf retro? Are they both suited for the same type of waves?

There are differences in the basic DNA of them. The Mark Richards will have a little more of his flair to it. They would be surfed in similar waves, but they'd have a different feel and style to the way they surf.

How does this compare to a puddle jumper, will this better perform in the knee to waist high North east surf? Thinking of replacing my puddle jumper squash tri fin set up for this, or will it perform the same with the MR 2+1 on the puddle jumper?

The puddle Jumper Jumper has a more low-end range but maxes out around chest to head high. The MR Cali Twin has much more range as far as wave size, but may not perform as well as the Puddle Jumper in waist-high waves. Have you tried a puddle jumper HP?
