Hi Bondi, in 1629 the Batavia was shipwrecked off the coast of Western Australia on the Houtman Abrolhos islands. Before that the Duyfken lands in 1606 making the Dutch the first known foreigners to set foot on Australian shores. The Duyfken replica was built in Fremantle WA between 1997-1999. Some history you may like.

That jug is awesome Leigh! I did say that now you have a broken finger you can still metal detect, but just looking for old treasures is even better! I broke my wrist once, had surgery on it, and a week and a half later I was out swining! I would be interested to see what the Mueseum say about that jug.... keep us all updated.

That was absolutely amazing buddy. Well one bud.

The tile is dutch Delftware. But more likely it's made in Rotterdam, because most tiles were made in Rotterdam. At the place where you were magnet-fishing: the Delftse vaart, was a very large tile-bakery. But also at other places in Rotterdam. The tile is from after 1650. Because the picture is small and the decoration in the corners are also tiny and simple. With kind regards from the Netherland! Love what you are doing. As a child I lived in a very old, medieval town in N where I did the same. I only found little pieces.

I agree it may be your greatest find ever. At least in the top 3. Definitely go back there. You didn't even need the metal detector.

This is a second reaction :-) The first one was about the tile. This one about the jar! I found the same jar at the rijksmuseum of Amsterdam. When you google with IENDR POVR and jug, maybe rijksmuseum, you will find out it's the heraldry of Amsterdam and the family d'Ombre, from the atelier of Jan Emens Mennicken, dated: 1590-1620. But the tile is a bit older, so the jug must be a little bit older too. Kind regards from an antique-lover from the Netherlands.

In the world of vintage Barbie (and other antique doll clothing and linens) restoration using denture tabs is the best way to salvage any vintage item! Add more tabs and a bit more water. I used this method for years, works great! Great find my friend!💕🕊
