Lost TREASURES and FOSSILS found on Florida River Diving Adventure

Спорт

This was a great two day fossil diving adventure in North Florida. Recent floodwaters, made our underwater hunt challenging. We recovered Ice Age fossils, shark teeth and lost modern treasures. With each fossil hunt I always experience a new situation with wildlife and the raw nature within the beautiful Sunshine State.

Glad that you explain that every trip isn’t epic. It’s crazy how so many of my dives i’ll find so little then others i’ll find one thing that makes it all worth it! Great vid as usual 😎

Thank you for watching, I appreciate your feedback. Finds can definitely run slim on many of the trips while other adventures turn out to be epic. The best part is always the hunt.

I was surprised by their size but I have seen them super far up different rivers in the past. They happily remain in fresh water for long periods of time.

Why do you think they pass laws where you cant take a bottle out of the water or anything over 50 years old?

  • @EpicFossils

The catalyst of these laws that currently keep us from removing old man made objects was to prevent the public from collecting anything over 50 years in age that could be considered historically important.... i.e. Native American, Civil War and other cultural artifacts. Because these laws are all encompassing, they prevent responsible removal of garbage, including soda bottles from as recently as the early 1970's.

The law about leaving anything man-made more than 50 years old is a dumb Law! That doesn't make any sense whatsoever. You would think they would want to let people clean up the waterways of old stuff. So a 50 year old tire in a river is a good thing?! I don't get it!

You are preaching to the choir. I couldn't agree more. The laws changed in Florida back in 2004. Hopefully, future lawmakers will enact new policies that will allow the public to once again responsibly collect and remove these objects from the river bottom.
