Any scenes with Ben talking to either Jack or John are always riveting. Over a decade later, I still cannot get enough of this show!

@@p-forest 100%. My love and appreciation of every aspect of the show only intensifies with every re-watch. And all the John/Jack interactions are pure gold. As is the John/Ben dynamic. Of the 3 pairings, I would probably say the Jack/Ben one is the 'weakest', but it's still far from weak.

First of all, I absolutely LOVE your reactions! Fun fact - what Jack is playing on the piano is his theme in the show. Matthew Fox learned to play it for this scene.

Ben and John are the best interactions on the show IMO. GREAT reaction Mike!

Alex is a great group B character. Much better then I remembered and glad you shine the light on her and Rousseau. Most reaction channels have not. Like it! LOL, the man from Tallahassee ending was another classic, LOST zinger.

One of the biggest questions has now been answered; how did John wind up in that wheelchair? Though, a nw question arises from that answer...how TF did he survive that fall?!

The box is an interesting concept that the writers confirmed was partly borrowed from one of the first postmodern novels: O'Brien/O'Nolan's 'The Third Policeman'. In it there is e.g. an underground shelter with weird readings, strange light effects of the sky changing and stuff called omnium, anything you want, plus a box that can provide anything you like. The sale of the book skyrocketed back in 2005 or so because of Lost. The books are very thematic in the show, smb even said that as there are so many references to books, Lost is really about making all of us read more. But also comics - my first time starting Lost began by noticing that the Tintin comic 'Flight 714 to Sydney' must be a starting point, crashing on an island. And this was also confirmed, the 'Flight 815 from Sydney' was a clear reference.

Think of “The Box” more metaphorically than an actual box. But it’s interesting, John worked for a box company. 🤔

I think it's fair to say that, at this point, it wasn't completely clear whether there was an actual magic box or not. Edit: Because even when Ben says it's a metaphor, this obviously doesn't mean that he's telling the truth 😉 I was still keeping all my 'options' open about the box at this point.

I love how LOST sets the trap for future events that in reality have already happened in the past. Sure the writers could have revealed how Anthony Cooper got there prior to John opening that door to the "magic box". But what fun would that be, right? Mike you are spot on about the Ben and Locke dialogue. I coukd watch those 2 S&M their way to verbal copulation abuse all day long. So many great lines in this one. Hamster wheel, don't have a code for......daughter in closet....but we should....your in a wheelchair....I'm in a wheelchair..., did it hurt John, you know a little something about boxes don't you John...and on and on...this episode is a masterclass in story telling, that never ever gets old.
