Another thing I find quite useful in the prawn (and to use up a slot) is the jump jet upgrade. Take the stuff for it and once you get crystalline Sulfur from the lost river you will be able to make it. It makes moving with the prawn quicker through use of grappling the ground in front of you and then using the jump jets

I know this video is over a year old but I missed the chance to say thank you for all the guides, from taking me from collecting my first piece of the sea moth to having the prawn suit decked out in upgrades and the cyclops (still working on the upgrades) and just casually walking in and out of the lost river and sometimes venturing into the lava zones. Thank you, Landis, for all of your help in my adventure.

Kept going unprepared and dying to warpers or getting my Cyclops destroyed by ghost leviathans, which made me stop for a while. Your guides have helped me all the way from finding my first diamond all the way to beating the game. Hey, the base in the jellyshroom caves has power cell charger fragments. You can take stuff from the caves and make a laser cutter. Use the laser cutter to cut into the southwest grassy plateau wreck, which has battery charger fragments.

I would call the Prawn's Grapple, not quite essential, but pretty dang important, and very entertaining to boot. If you shoot the grapple out, then jump and detach while it's pulling you in, you can maintain your momentum and travel ridiculously fast. You can even straight up outrun a Ghost Leviathan chasing you.

I have watched this video like 15 or 20 times just to memorize your tips. You are so helpful.

I would watch you just for the voice but these tutorials are the best I’ve seen. Not just about Subnautica but I’m general. Covers everything needed Right to the point No BS Short and simple

A note about placing storage containers inside your Cyclops You need to be careful about destroying the little lava larvas on your haul because you can and WILL destroy your storage and everything in it. This just happened to me on my stream and I had to quit and reload because I lost everything

My base in the lost river would have creepvines with seed clusters on them and acid mushrooms, with mostly storage, a moon pool and a power cell charger and a battery charger. I would also recommend putting marblemelons/lantern fruit in the base and cyclops for food.

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED TYSM

I decided to take my Cyclops with the PRAWN suit onboard down the SW Blood Kelp entrance. Went from there around the chamber with the south Ghost Leviathan, hugging the left wall. Didn't see it. Then to the crossroads to set up a base and another in the Tree Cove.

To be honest I put the fabricator, Medkit generator and other useful things in the front of the cyclops as I find it’s more convenient and then put the “crew quarters” in the section right behind the bridge as it look better in my opinion.

Each to their own, important thing is we have them

I bring all the materials to build a moonpool, growbed, power cell charger, upgrade console, and thermal plant so I can build a temporary outpost to charge my prawn and cyclops and to upgrade the prawn. You can deconstruct and store in the cyclops and redeploy whenever you need to.

I do like the power cell chargers in the cyclops, but that's with the thermal upgrade module. Because once you make it down to the lava zone, there's no other way to charge it up unless you have enough power cells to make it back to the surface. Also, bring extra power cells, food, water and med kits. I also have built a moonpool base near the alien gun, and left a seamoth there before taking the cyclops and prawn suit down into the lava zone. It makes it going back and forth easier, especially for the thermal upgrade for the prawn suit. That has to be made in the moonpool with a vehicle modification station.

One caveat to power cell chargers. you can have them in the cyclops if you're running the thermal reactor module, just park on top of a volcanic vent for awhile when you need to charge things.

i see everything, and i believe i tried it, was fun and only a tester but I'm not overly convinced on the merit of doing it currently (vid should be on the channel somewhere)

Is it okay to swap the cyclops sonar upgrade with engine efficiency? Since on my gameplay I can see through the cave just fine, or is there a better purpose for the sonar?

YES !!! power cells for sure !!!! that last slot on the cyclops FIRE putter outter ;) I found that out the hard way ... turns out if you are running from something in flank speed ... well she likes to burn you up and take all you stuff :) by the way got any power cells ?

I avoid the fires by flanking sparingly, but there is plenty of spare slots and not many good modules so plenty of free choice.

Actually I have found the only item I can't build and place in a Cyclops is the Vehicle Bay Module, everything else you can place. I also place an indoor grow bed with Marble Melons inside for food also.

the engine efficiency module can be found in the aurora

In a base that’s up pretty shallow a bed is useful, but all the way down in the lost river, dies it even make a difference between day and night?

This is really hard to do bc when i want to make those stuff i always need 1 more magnetite or 1 more copper or 1 more of that bla bla bla but i already have been down there at the lava zone 1253m down and my max was 1300m down but now i have a mk2 for prawn suit and mk3 for cyclops/seamoth so if i go down there i will be safe with your guide thanks man (:

I know this is really late but you can fit at least four large lockers in the back on one side of the walk way :)

I tend to use the drill and grapple tbh, if anything aggro’s a quick tickle with the drill will normally send them running.

Landis definitely, for me personally going down there I’ll probably end up setting an outpost with possibly unnecessary things in it, and there’s how I’m not sure if I’ll build a bioreactor down there too, or not.

This was quite helpful, well i wont lie, it was holy helpful. but i think you forgot one important detail about the prawn depth module mk2: in order to make it you also require the mk1 module. so assuming you don't have a the first one AND you got almost all of the materials required for it (2 rubies and plasteel ingot) and get to find the 3 nickel ores left to make it (which in this point you should already be located somewhere in the lost river), where are you suppose to fabricate it? you need a vehicle upgrade console and you can't build one in the cyclops. so bringin a big load of more materials to make a base, a moonpool and the vehicle upgrade console in order to get that depht module is kind of a pain in the ass.

That is a good point I missed, I suppose my work around would be to use the atp teleport, but taking mats for a thermal gen and a moonpool with console is a better idea.

Guys, once down in the Lost river (and after obtaining nickel) how do you build the prawnsuit upgrades in order to then hop out the cyclops at deeper depths to drill the kyonite?? There's no prawnsuit fabricator in the cyclops.

For mk2 module for prawn you need modification centre not fabrivcator For mk1 module you need fabricator And before going in lost river mk1 module for prawn suit is recommended you cant go there without it

Actually you can recharge the power cells from your cyclops quicker than they use it. Like if you charge them in the cyclops then you'll have infinate power. Just dont let it go too low

The micromanagement involved is heavy, I just always park mine in thermal vents or the lava zone, so recharging with the chargers is always easy

QEP = 3 (can get away with 2 if you use the moonpool entrance) Caches = 3 (1 for each) DRT = 1 ATP = 2 For a total of 8, which is handy since the game only gives you 7 👊

Yeah there’s tons of magnetite in the glowing mushroom place, especially once you get the prawn with a drill. If I’m remembering correctly you can also get it from shale. Only thing you’ll really have to worry about are the snake things, but they aren’t that bad

You forgot to mention that modification station.

I all ways hold at least hold 2 med-kits on me at all times

It can have that effect on people, that’s what makes it special I believe, almost everywhere looks beautiful but deadly. My advice for people struggling to adventure out (especially in new areas) is to build a small base, with windows and a scanner room, so you can get used to the sounds (and enemies don’t attack the base) so you can slowly adventure out and acclimatise to the area. Dealing with reapers comes with practice but I have a guide on that.
