Lost Places Near Berlin | Discovering Former Nazi Bunkers and an Abandoned Hospital

A tour through old Wehrmacht bunkers, barracks, and a dilapidated hospital: Explore lost places in Brandenburg with DW reporter Lukas Stege!
Just a few kilometers from Berlin, you can let their morbid charm work its magic. Wünsdorf, the site of the Wehrmacht High Command during World War II, and the former sanatoriums in Beelitz have an eerie ambience and a fascinating history that stretches back to the Nazi era and beyond.

We lived in Hanau from 72 to 96. We had the same things on American bases. Libraries, theater, bowling alley, gyms, schools and stores. Playgrounds by the military housing and outside schools and churches.

The 19th century is in the 1800's... Because after the year 1800, 1801 is the beginning of the 19th century. Until the year 1900, when 1901 became the 20th century

@@tobiasburen8340 my point is that he called it the 18th century. It's not the 18th century. Anything after 1801 is the 19th century.

@@Xero-Hero In some languages "the 19th century" is less commonly used. Meaning when translating "the 1900's" to English they (including myself) tend to make this error. If using Swedish as an example; You don't really say "Det 19e århundradet". Instead you use "19-hundratalet". It has numbers and a word behind it while century are seen as a period of 100 years regardless of when it starts, and if you put 19 in front of it its just seen as the 1900's.

Interesting to see how the bunkers and sanitorium were used in WW2 and then by the Soviet Army. Thank you, Lukas, for sharing your video. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

In diesem Bunker wurden Zwiebeln versteckt, um sie von den Franzosen fernzuhalten. Die meisten Zwiebeln waren im Mai 1945 völlig verfault.

I was on a plane going to Arizona. I sat next to some college students that didn't know that there was a wall around East Germany and that both parts of Germany were separated. When I said something online about it people told me I was wrong and I should apologize to the students because there never was a wall around Germany. Crazy what they don't teach in schools.

strictly speaking there was no wall around east Germany. there was a wall , built by East Germany, which entirely surrounded west berlin. and there was a series of defences , the 'inner German border' , built by East Germany to separate west from east.

Wunsdorf. Group Soviet Forces (later called Western Group of Forces) in the former DDR. Zossen is near there too I believe. Lots of WW2 and earlier German military history in that area.

I can't help but wonder how young German people relate to the horrors their recent ancestors put the world through. It used to be forgive and forget. Then it was just forget. With all this visible history, though, it must be hard to ignore...

Lost Places Near Berlin - the Fascination of Abandoned Buildings 1402pm 22.10.22 urban exploring has caught on... and now after yerv arrested those who indulged the passion for documenting the lost... and sabotaged and discredited the lives (and life) of those who kinnda looked like that's what they'd be up to ie: exploring urban environments... you can now allow the safe and reasonable media agencies to make a concerted effort to be a forerunner to all things explorative... kindda stinks, dont you think? kindda how things work, though.

I wanna come visit! I notice that people have clearly forgotten the horrors though of WW2 and history is repeating in the form of Russia attacking Ukraine. :( This is why people should visit, to understand what happened in WW2 to be aware of how any normal person can be influenced by psychology to do terrible things.

People I don’t know put hidden cameras in my apartment and they talk to me from the street every day. There are cameras even in the toilet. Sometimes they let the children speak. I moved to another part of the country, the same people do the same. They are harassing my colleagues at work behind my back. The police don't interfere. I living is israel 25 years.I came from Azerbaijan.the Jews want to drive me to suicide. They talk to me all the time, when I go outside they leave. The neighbors never called the police. They call trying to kill me mastery.
