Lost Place: The remains of the WW2 REICHSBAHN fleet found in the woods (OVER 50 Steam TRAINS!!!)
Located near Poland's border, the remains of the complete WW2 Reichsbahn fleet that survived the war are rusting away on an old and forgotten train station. Some of them survived in an amazing condition in a locomotive shed while others are exposed to the elements.
The steam trains are mostly belonging to the so-called Baureihe 52 and 50 (the so-called Kriegslokomotiven) because they were built in large numbers during the war in a standardized production process in several plants in Europe. Over 7000 were built and were used until the 1980s.

It`s not lost, it`s not forgotten and certainly not "found". It all belongs to a private collection. (Dampfloksammlung Falkenberg).

Visiting the Hamburg railway station, as a 10-year-old in 1967, the east Germans were still running steam locomotives, the fireman inviting me up into the cab what a thrill it was! Mom had to drag me away from the locomotive.

Hamburg was in West Germany and the West Germans were still running steam locos at that time. I travelled through Germany by train in 1969 and remember a steam locomotive on a turntable at Wasserbillig, near Luxembourg.
The rusty locos are Reko BR 52s, rebuilt in the DDR. They were în the forme fleet of locomotives of The DDR before being retired. Great footage.
This has to be Museum cuz there is no way the ones inside that shed or still in that good for being 70 years old and are still all together plus the one where it was just the boiler assembly that looked freshly painted a paint from the forties would not look that well-preserved
@BrettonFerguson
The paint is probably from the 1990s when they stopped using them after the USSR collapsed.. They use durable paint on trains, if it is in a shed it could still look like this. There are still five WWII german trains in use hauling coal today in 2022 in Bosnia.
it's amazing how many of the technologies that we consider extinct can be found literally right next to us! a while ago I myself came across something like this on the top floor of the building where I worked - a room with the emptied remains of huge metal cabinets, still lined up along the walls. it turned out to be an old telephone exchange! who would have guessed that this thing was sitting forgotten above our heads?! 😊
Somebody will fix them someday.

This looks like a Railway Steam Preservation site rebuilding scrap steam loco's. A lot of British preserved Steam Railways like the SVR, KVR, and many other lines had lines of scrap stem locos like these from Barry and are now all rebuilt and running

@@cf1925 Asbestos was used as a heat resistant insulation. It was not used in a way with cement (like for roof panels), but it was made like a sort of textile. You can find it around the boiler, and around some steam pipes. At 0:25 you can see this insulation hanging around.

PS.: Auch andere Museen bieten solche „Verlassene“ Loks...

I was just wondering if this locomotive ‘dump’ still exists and where it can be found? I assume it’s in the former East Germany

Sadly, most are simply too rusted beyond repair that even moving them is just dangerous. Although the Soviet kept them in good conditions 'till the 90s, so there's still hope.
