Interesting story. My first thought based on the incredible slow progress and going 30 years is they were scamming the group of followers and maybe others. That said 30 years is a long time. You would think a scam would fall apart much sooner. The man possibly truly believed. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the comment. I agree. I thought it was crazy, but putting all of that work into it he must have truly believed he was going to find that treasure. I told my wife about the story and she asked me if he was schizophrenic. Valid question.

what i think is lame about todays society and modern culture is this - 100 years ago anyone could go dig, now in todays day and age people cant. why? because some one else? the new generation is ruled by people from the past... i hate old people

Steven In England and some of europe you have to legally report finds of old coins etc and maybe an archeologist comes, but the government COMPENSATES you. In the U.S. if you find something out west the government just takes it and says thank you for supporting endless wars and you’re left with nothing. Europe has much more reasonable laws then the U.S. Like the saying goes show me the incentivizes and I’ll show you the outcome

@@koltoncrane3099 You forgot about the threatened prison sentences handed out to treasure hunters finding the actual treasure. If the U.S. has this attitude, then the treasure hunter finding treasure has no choice but to secretly sell the treasure on the "black market" without paying taxes on it, so if the government found out it will add felonies on top of the original felony for finding the treasure in the first place. Maybe, taking the found treasure out of the country with finding a non extradition country for new residency.
