Here is a rough list of all the unlocks for the lost pack: 5 armor paintjobs per class 6 sets of pickaxe accessories (Bug, Carven, Incorruptible, Hammer, Jagged, Pneumatic) 7 parts per set (Front blade, Rear blade, Head, Handle, Pomel, Shaft, and Paintjob) 4 additional Rear blades in addition to the ones from the sets There are a total of 66 unique rewards from the lost pack event. After you have collected all the cosmetics from the equipment, the event will no longer give you rewards for interacting with the pack. This may change at some point to reward additional minerals, the way it does for cargo crates or blank cores.

sm0kie420 yea the event should still be in the game, I believe it’s probably a permanent event for missions drg. The likelihood of having a helmet spawn is pretty low though so just keep an eye out.

Sandblasted Corridors is the best of the biomes for finding packs/crates/machine events since it tends to have the largest and most open caves.

I quite like the occasional reward of finding a crate or pack, unlocking random cosmetic stuff through gameplay feels like just a nice lil bonus that i wouldn't want to hurry through

Note: for lost packs and cargo crates there is one way to lose the reward. That is if you lose internet connection and get removed from the game from it before any form of completing the mission is done. This is mentioned in the wiki so if I’m wrong blame the wiki not me 😂

Probably the dwarf was fighting for his life and parts of his armor were damaged and his helmet got knocked off or he threw it away and then went to hide in a small hole either bleeding out or any other death due to the ground being blown up.

last week someone activated the drop pod. halway on running back i heard the beeping sound and found the lost helmet. took alot of dodging to find the lost equipement but i did it xD the rest of my team looked at me like wtf dude. so much risk for a cosmetic. yes ofcourse XD :D they did not want to leave the drop pod because it was safe. but hey. your loss lol

headphones are by far the best way to increase your chance of noticing the helmets. Great for finding cargo crate batteries, too.

Fun fact: if you join a match and someone has already found the helmet and scanned it, you will not be able to collect any reward from the backpack.

Operating at the efficiency of 5 minutes per mission, you can do 12 missions in an hour (not taking into account loading times). Selecting only missions with length 3, the probability of finding a lost pack is 1/3 per mission (per the wiki). On average, in an hour, in 12 missions, a player will find 4 lost packs. There are, in total, 60 cosmetics to be obtained through his event (20 Armor paintjobs, 40 pickaxe parts). Theoretically, one could obtain everything in 15 hours. With the same logic, one could obtain all 156 cosmetics from cargo crates in 39 hours. None of this, of course, takes into account loading times or missions where a helmet spawns but the player misses it. Playing 5 hours a day, a heavily motivated player could finish these two events in roughly 8 days.

I think with the latest season update they made it so that the higher the hazard be more likely there is to spawn these. I say this because I was playing a lot of hazard three and four for getting promotions and weekly hunts. And then, I go and hazard 5 to finish things with a bang (like usual) but I get two or three different submissions on every other mission I go on. Either this was some extreme luck, or they made hazard 5. Very lucky for overclocks and battery chests and this.

Ok so this video is kinda old and this fact might be well known but batteries for cargo crates beep relative to your distance from the cargo crate. Whereas the helmet is basically just a distress call beep from a dead dwarf. I love this fact and it just adds to atmosphere and lore of the caves!

I thought for the longest time that scanning the helmet lets you automatically get the full layout of the cavern, since they only say that the terrain scanner was updated. sooooo many missed packs...

I've encountered a lot of helmets but I never knew It was about this, I thought it was just giving you the complete tunnel map.

I hypothesize that all dwarf helmets and even armor has an internal power supply that is recharged on the rig itself due to the shield regen. When the dwarf wearing it falls in combat or to a hazard the armor itself self-destructs the shields to keep the rivals from getting their hands on the shield tech however the pack must be recovered and so it starts broadcasting an distress signal. The pack and helmet are likely linked since we find the helmet and likely glyphids dragged the body away thinking its food. The helmet comes off while being dragged off seperating the helmet from the pack and so it enters low power mode but still broadcasts the signal. Again its just my hypothesis.

My favorite pack recovery was waaay up in the middle of the ceiling. I eyeballed a supply drop right through the middle of the pack cave (the first try was a ranging shot)

This is just my personal experience, but any mission that has linearity tends to have the lost pack generate near the start of the mission (ie; where the pod dropped us in).

Yea that would work, should be roughly the same. Length 3 refining can have enormous caves, just keep that in mind.

Great Guide, though I personally would not recommend playing this game that way. I really love finding helmets while playing and this method takes that fun away, I am personally not really interested in 100%ing the cosmetics, so I would rather have the fun and adventure of finding them, while playing the game the normal way. But that is just my opinion :) Good job anyway :)

The wiki states 1 mission length is 1/10 2 mission length is 1/6 And 3 mission length is 1/3 chance for a lost pack to spawn.

Yes, im gonna go ahead and look and see the rough amount of all the possible awards to be capped for the event. after you've claimed everything, you get no reward from the lost equipment, which i believe is different from cargo crates and machine events which give minerals im pretty sure. I will pin a comment that has the breakdown so you can check but if you aren't getting anything, you have finished getting all the rewards.

According to the wiki chances to find one are no longer related to the mission length. It's always 16.66% chance. Maybe you should add a note to the video. Great video though!

@@milligin I backed the big Warpath Kickstarter they ran years ago. Then the local tabletop gaming crowd died off. Either way; there's also a sibling game called Dreadball. It's the same sort of thing as Blood Bowl (being a violent sports board game using the races and factions from a wargame) but plays entirely differently. And, unlike Blood Bowl, is actually set in the same universe as the wargame, rather than being an alternate universe.

Those events are rolled separately. You can have a matrix core event, a Prospector, and a pack in the same mission

I tried this guide, but have had little success. If I have a 1/3 independently rolled chance of either event spawning on a length 3 mission, I should be seeing one in 56% of my attempts, but I only find something maybe 1/5 of the time. I check the caves both dark and illuminated so I really don't think I'm missing more than half the events, especially the cargo crates. Are these chances rolled once for each named mission or each time playing that mission? Have you guys had good luck farming?

the generation happens every time you play a mission, it doesn't have to be a unique mission. you can play the same named mission over and over and get different things generated in the cave. I dont think this guide says what the % chance is for them to spawn, im sure you can find that number somewhere though i would encourage you to be critical of the source. I didn't include information here because it is subject to change (and has). I think if you temper your expectation on how often you will find them you may be more enthusiastic about the results.

​@@milligin Thanks for the quick reply man. I had gotten several strings of very good and very bad luck that made me think that there was some process under the hood I was missing. I am pleased to report that lost packs are now empty for me, but I still have a long way to go on the cargo crates. I found what worked best for me was to go very fast ~1:30 per mission and rely primarily on visual cues. I kept burning out when I didn't have anything to listen to in the background or I wasted too much time searching side tunnels.

@@LordDratsab I hadn't considered how monotonous it would be to grind these out as i only did it enough to understand the mechanics and made the video. There are significantly more cosmetics to unlock now than there were at the time. The suggestion to just use visuals and do a general sweep is a great idea for maintaining a good mentality while farming. just out of curiousity, how far along would you say you are with the overclock grind? typically people have finished all cargo crates and helmets long before they finish getting all the cosmetic cores but i'm interested in where you may be with it.

​@@milligin I've only forged 19 cosmetic matrix cores and 33 weapon overclocks. That means I'll have to wait 15 weeks to get all my overclocks and that's before season 2 adds 4 new weapons. I don't actually care about cosmetic cores since all my dwarves wear helmets and I use some combination of MegaCorp, Fourth Relic and Scale Brigade with the Cosmetic Restriction Remover mod to obtain the look I want. I have many more cargo crates to find but my pickaxes are looking pretty sweet. If you were wondering about my specific time investment, I got the game about a month ago and have 250 hours in it, with I think about 5-10 of those being farming. Its really hard to tell since I only did two or three >1hour farming sessions and generally just took it as an alternative way to play when I was waking up in the morning or waiting for the mission timer to tick over when I didn't like the current assortment. I only started farming when I passed level 100 and completed the season pass.

But how do you unlock the helmet as a headgear

Mf I've been interacting with the helmets and the whole time I thought it just showed more of the map 😭

I dont have enough sample size to confidently say that it does/doesn't but I logged my own results and it there are strong correlations to mission length. If you have unpacked the game or have some strong evidence that it doesnt, i would be very interested in the spawning mechanics.

Depends on the length of the mission. Iirc, length 1 missions have around a 15 % chance, length 2 around 25% and length 3 around 35%. This is of course a separate chance from chests.

So how to I get the helmet itself?

If the lost pack is above a cave then Step 1: spend 5 mins using radar Step 2: resupply

For the specific helmet, if your talking about the lost pack helmet, it’s also referred to as the Corporate Marine helmet which is able to be purchased from the shop.

I no longer think they are guaranteed on long missions. I tried 4... Can anyone else confirm?

They are not guaranteed, they never were. they are not even very likely to show up as they are low percentage chance to spawn. The more missions you do the more chances you have to find them so prioritize doing fast missions if you are hunting for this or any event.
