I beat it too! I bought this game initially because I saw it in GameStation for £5! Best fiver I spent on a game I knew zero about before! They showed in a gaming mag that number 2 of this game was in the work but, obviously very sadly it just didn't happen. 😔

Today I finished this game for the first time. The truth is that I do not understand how it is not a more recognized game. It is very good, with an excellent story, really challenging fights, endearing characters and a soundtrack that will resonate in your head for a long time. I want Lost Odyssey 2, Microsoft.

I think with Lost Odyssey it's really the case of simply don't having a well established name to carry it. It's not really fair but that's how it works. Part of me thinks that if this game had come out three years later, when everyone was dissapointed with FF13 and fed up Square Enix, this game might have gained a lot more popularity. Being exclusive to a console that, despite having quite a good amount of awesome JRPGs, wasn't exactly the first choice for fans of the JRPG genre. But no matter the reasons, it is a shame that this game flew under the radar so hard. I first played it in 2013 and this game reminded me so much of what I used to love about JRPGs but without relying solely on nostalgia.. To me, this will always be the true Final Fantasy 13.

The biggest reason for it being so underrated is the fact that it was an Xbox 360 exclusive, and this console wasn't very popular with JRPG fans. Most people would expect the PS3 would have all the great JRPGs.

Games are unique in that they can draw from any number of sources for musical inspiration and even contain a large variety of types of different musics, carrying different moods that are then attempted to be conveyed to you throughout the game. This variety and diversity is crucial to making you feel like they think you should feel for the experience.

This and Xenoblade have some of the most epic music in an RPG.

People want to say Dancing Mad is Uematsu’s masterpiece. And that’s fine. But this song is haunting in the first half and straight up trolling you in the second half. I love every second of it

The very beginning of this song is the same exact chord progression as the World of Ruin from FF6. Interesting stuff.

So true! To me, Lost Odyssey is like a combination of all the things, I've been missing from newer Final Fantasy games. Awesome music, powerful looking spells and interesting characters. Also, I like the lack of palette-swapped enemies. Sure, there are some but at least you're not fighting the same five or six monsters over and over again, only with different color schemes. Why FFX had to reintroduce that trend is beyond me.

Clesarie Ever heard of the Tales series? It's really good though the most recent entry was terribly underwhelming. Next one comes out early next year and it's called Tales of Berseria. There's also FFXV coming out though we'll have to see whether it's any good or not =P

1:00 - 4:56 my favorite part. The other part is still good though.

This game teach you a lot about the value of death and life. I really enjoyed reading Kaim memories, they are pretty well written and the background sound effects and music always fit.

Epic song, I stood there doing nothing for a bit during this fight just to listen to the song. And I'll be honest, I was such a fangirl for Kaim for a while haha that's why I was annoyed with Sarah for a while XD But now I'm happy for them, both are great characters, especially Kaim. He changed so much throughout the game, I loved it all. And ya know...I hated Jansen or a while, but now I'm sooo glad he was there

I bought this game the day it came out and cannot praise it enough. Its a damn shame its only on xbox. Theres so much to the story its unreal.

epic music, especially when the japanese guy came in, was amazing and fit the awsome battle so well ;)

Also at 3:22 it is FF7 Boss Battle theme, it's clear as day in the background.

Now to comment on the song itself, I love the rap that begins to take place at 3:23, somehow it is cryptic and adds to the mood of the theme. It's pretty nuts to say the least, I gotta hand it to Uematsu in that regard, he really went all out with this theme. It's that rap though, it's cryptic as hell, I am certain it's in Japanese, but the guy just did a great job of actually adding to the atmosphere with the driving guitar, to me that's the best part of this awesome theme.

I just came back to this game after a year and beat it a couple days ago. I'm really glad I got bored enough to come back to it. I should've beaten it sooner. It may not have all the bells and whistles of the current final fantasy, but it's a really good game with a great story. Too bad it's probably gonna be one of the most underrated rpgs in recent years. Maybe one of the most underrated ever.

The beginning sounds exactly like when you first get into the world of ruin in FF6

Has to be one of the greatest RPG's I've ever had the pleasure of playing, the story and the characters are flushed out and not rushed and it's really does have an emotional impact on you. Certainly more than deserving of a sequel and much more coverage than it originally got. Though FF12 will always be my favourite RPG and I love FF13, Lost Odyssey would have made a great FF13; but then when I think about it, I'm glad it isn't tainted by Square Enix's hands and it's, it's own game and hopefully it's own series soon? Microsoft don't let this one fall into the darkness, it's a great final fantasy rival and in many respects it tells a much more satisfying and immersive story. Especially in this last battle, couldn't help but feel epic fighting the final boss and how it all played out in the end.

This is one of the best J-RPGs that I've played. Jansen makes me laugh :L He sort of reminds me of Magoichi Saika from Samurai Warriors in terms of his flirtatious personality xD
