I just started getting into the famed sitcom "Modern Family" not too long ago. Having initially avoided the show out of fear of being similar to "The Office" (but with a traditional family sitcom overlay), I finally decided to give it legitimate chance. The series may not be on my top 10 (or even top 20), it's still an extremely solid show with gut busting humor and loveable characters. So naturally, because I'm interested in the series, I delve into some of the secrets and fun facts. While searching, I stumbled across a forbidden clip that served as a "test pilot" for a potential shift in tone for "Modern Family". Needless to say, they went with it. That's why the series went from straight forward comedy to an odd mixture of melodrama and subpar humor by seasons 6-8. Sadly, this was the norm until the show's end last year (yes it lasted that long). Despite the pilot going over very well with the writing team, the pilot was kept in Fox's archives for years. That was until almost 40 seconds of footage resurfaced. It may not be good, and definitely set up the "beginning of the end", the scene was still an interesting find on my part. Hopefully this can bring some new attention to the series and create a better understanding of what went wrong with "Modern Family".
