WhenI watched Lost In Space while I was in 5th, 6th, and 7th grade. Every episode was exciting. I never scrutinized an episode. But now, it still brings back great memories, but I scrutinize many mistakes and inconsistencies. I loved the show.

One thing about Lost in Space was that there was absolute no CONTINUITY at all. Each epsiode was totally disjointed from any others. That being said I loved Lost in Space.

The creatures that escaped from the keeper were still on the loose in next episode about him. When it said to be continued next week same time same channel they generally continued with last week as you recall and then go from there.

The odd thing about their visit to Earth in 1947 is that they never actually showed them returning to the present. It was by accident they wound up back then, so it would seem they would have to recreate that accident perfectly to get back. As I'm sure we've figured out, continuity wasn't a priority here so I think we're to assume they got back to their present somehow. On the other hand, it would have been interesting to think that they continued their journey from that point onward in the past and eventually found Alpha Centauri before the date on which they would take off. It might explain how there was so much other stuff from Earth so far out in space when we were given the impression at the beginning that the Robinsons were trailblazers.

I find it amazing that, as many times that the ship CRASH LANDS,,, ITS EXTERIOR HULL IS NEVER DAMAGED, AND NOTHING INSIDE IS DAMAGED, OR THROWN OUT OF PLACE, MUST BE SOME EXTREMELY TOUGH METAL, TO SURVIVE ALL THOSE CRASH LANDINGS, AND IF THE POWER CORE IS APPARENTLY UNDER GROUND NOW, HOW DO THEY STILL ACHIEVE LIFT OFF???🤔🤔🤔

What is a bit funny is whenever they encounter an alien(s), they often react as if it is perfectly normal to meet a totally new alien race. While eating dinner, Will says something like: "Oh, by the way Dad, I met this alien while exploring. He wants to meet you". Dr Robinson: "It is getting late son, so tomorrow we will go see what he wants".... Even as kid I would role my eyes.

I remember when Will name dropped Priplanus and I had to go back and check the prior episodes to see where that came from because I assumed I missed something. Apparently it came from nowhere. I wonder if there was an actual origin for the name but either the scene was never filmed or it was and wound up getting cut. Yes, the origin of that name has bothered me for decades.

The Junk Planet was the last episode, was it? Hmmm.... I remember once, speculating on where the Robinsons might have wound up when the *_Jupiter 2_* would finally fly no longer. In the early 1980s, I imagined one of those cast-reunion films, which would have depicted them having settled down with a friendly humanoid culture, complete with interspecies romances for Will and Penny (Judy married Don, obviously). The film would have concluded with a hyperspace radio contact with Earth, telling them that the *_Jupiter 2_* had not been lost, that they had survived. Told that Earth had given up sending ships to the stars after losing the *_Jupiter 3,_* he begs them to try again, because the universe is filled with wonders, and it is also filled with life, some of it hostile but much of it friendly, and humanity has a destiny among the stars. He makes an impassioned plea that goes on for a couple of minutes, until the operators of the link tell him that the signal has been lost - they're not sure at what point.

My favorite episode was when the Jupiter 2 landed on Earth in 1947. I always loved it because of the almost, full scale mock up of the ship. I knew Bill Mumy in the late 80’s. He once asked if I still watched the show. I had to admit that I didn’t because I wasn’t lucky enough to have cable back then. About a month later, a package arrived in the mail at my house. It was a VHS tape, and autographed 8x10. He wrote “have fun John”. He had dubbed onto the tape, the pilot, my favorite episode, “Visit to a Hostile Planet”, and his favorite episode, the one where he returns to Earth in Hatfield Corners. We lost touch in the 90’s, but I still have the tape with his handwriting, noting the title of each episode. It was a treat to get to know my childhood hero, and I’ll always appreciate how kind he was to me.

in the mid 80’s, I was working at a high end restaurant in metro Detroit. One afternoon, the owner mentioned his brother in law was coming in for dinner that evening. I knew the owners sister lived in California, so I asked what his brother in law was in town for. He answered, “He’s in town for some kind of convention. He used to be an actor when he was very young. Maybe you’ve heard of him, his name is Bill Mumy. I thought I was going to pass out. I asked “You mean Billy Mumy from “Lost in Space”?”. “Yes, that’s him, but he doesn’t like to be called Billy anymore”. I couldn’t believe I was going to meet my childhood hero. I was given his table that night. I never called him by his name, and let him be a normal person for the evening. I met many celebrities where I worked, and I never called them by name, or asked for an autograph. I had repeat clientele because of how I conducted myself on the floor. Bill came into town several other times, we became friendly, on a first name basis, and I was always flattered when he asked for me to wait on him. He was always very friendly, and thoughtful. As if him sending me the tape wasn’t enough, he once asked what I was doing that Sunday. He invited me to come to his hotel, have brunch with him, and go with him to the convention as his guest. He said he was staying at the Ritz Carlton and was being picked up by a limousine. “You can come to the hotel, we can get something to eat. Come to the convention with me and hang out while I sign autographs”. I was excited, but I had a private party to work, and the owner wouldn’t let me go. He didn’t want staff to get too chummy with his famous brother in law. Since my mom wouldn’t let me watch LIS when I was young, getting to know Bill for the time I worked at the restaurant made up for not getting to spend the day with him. Of course when I told my mom who I had met, she had no idea who he was. Those few years, I’ll always remember with a smile on my face.

Charles, thanks for the share here and your other posts. Wow, you went deep with detail! I made similar lists and almost made a slide of them for the vid but got impatient to finish and just did the short overview about it. I took a similar approach with comparing how the prod and air dates would translate to planet count, and much favored the prod order since any attempt at continuity was there. Especially with the Pod being properly introduced in Hunter’s Moon instead of inserting Kidnapped in Space ahead of that where Smith just sneaks into it on a lark. Land of the Giants suffered even more from the air date reshuffling on early continuity. I made a few adjustments to prod order that better matched shown planet landings with the order. So my count of 15 would have been 14 with the air date order, 16 with the prod order. This was my fantasy order if curious. Most Logical Order (production numbers) 1 2 3 8 9 4 5 6 7 10 11 12 13 14 15 17 16 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 Most Logical Order (air date numbers) 1 4 5 6 7 11 2 3 8 9 10 15 14 12 13 22 16 18 17 19 23 20 21 24

Well done sir! The Lost In Space movie sucked! The TV show is okay. The men are too goofy though. There never had an episode about Maureen in the original series. The Anti Matter Man episode was originally supposed to be about Don. They never showed where Don slept! The first season had some good episodes....The Keeper, His Majesty Smith, Mirror Mirror, Mr Nobody and Follow The Leader were really good. The second season Trip through the Robot may have been the best directed episode. Season three episodes that I really liked were Space Creature, Space Destructors and Anti Matter Man.

Season one felt a little like the Twilight Zone, very spooky and atmospheric at times. Lots of first season episodes have night scenes. Then the 2nd season comes and it's an entirely different look and feel. Now they are competing with William Selfs' other production, Batman. Bright colors, goofy costumes and ridiculous characters abound. Ratings slip and critics complain the show is a joke. 3rd season comes along and they try to make some improvements. Fewer stories surrounding Smith, Will and the Robot, less comedy and more planets. Make it more like Star Trek, someone probably said.
