I had lunch with Marta Kristen and Mark Goddard once. It was at Motor City Comic Con back in around 2002. When my friend was getting an autograph he mentioned that I was a teacher at the time at a foster care facility to Marta Kristen and she called over Mark Goddard. Goddard was teaching at a similar facility in Philadelphia at the time. We all struck up a conversation about working with kids and Marta Kristen invited my friend and I to go have lunch with them. Both were really nice and down to earth. It was weird for me talking shop with the pilot of the Jupiter 2.

Thank you. I loved the show as a kid. The joy never leaves. I got a red Remco B9 robot for Christmas. I was real happy. I always wanted it to do more and be gray but it still is a great memory. 2 D batteries inside the tracks and behind the mouth was a standard flashlight bulb. It steered with a single wheel attached to and "arm." The arms had a squeeze control and popped back with an internal spring. It didn't say anything that I remember but boy I sure wish it did.

I’m slightly younger. I think in 1970 I was looking through the 1968 Montgomery Ward catalog (my mother let me have outdated catalogs) and wanted the Robot so bad. I even called them to try and order one, but they no longer carried them. When I grew up, sort of, I tried finding one on eBay. They were like $400 and rare. I’ve purchased newer releases of B9 and Robbie that were probably much better. But I envy you actually getting one at the time. I have one that’s like 18”-24” tall with remote control.

This is odd- the Robot turned up in discount stores and could be seen for sale as late as 1970 !! Then , I have even seen ones with " 50 cents" written on the box - they were at garage sales too! My situation was unique: My cousins were moving in 1974: they had some toys they no longer cared for - they gifted me their Lost in Space Robot ! (barely working, no box) but I had a BLAST with it! @@kenkoehler594

Marta Kristin is so hot! Legs to die for! Had I known about that convention I would have been there, but it was pre-internet, so living in Detroit meant I had no clue. At least I have had the chance to get autographs from Bill, Marta, Angela and Mark at local shows over the years. Sad to hear Mark passed away in October. Thanks for another great vid.

2015/2016 I was facebook friends with Bill Mumy. I would catch him at late hours 2-3AM Playing guitar, responding to facebook communications & doing goofy stuff. We struck up a dialogue several times & discussed music mostly. Mumy is a cool dude and is the one and only thing I miss about facebook - deleted in 2017.

Attended both days at the Bayside LIS reunion. Such warmth and happiness filled the air . All around were smiles and laughter. Basking in the glow of seeing our old television friends. Lucky enough to catch Bob May on the side and asked if he would go around the side of the red curtain where the Robot stood and have my picture taken with him. He did not think twice and said sure! Got a picture for a lifetime of he and I on either side of our mechanical friend. Unreal!

As a kid, my brother and two sisters would line up on the floor in front of our new RCA TV at 8 PM and watch Lost in Space; what a great time that was. Mom had one rule and that was all home work and any required study for test be complete B$ the set could be turned on. After LIS, we quickly took our time sequenced baths and went to bed. Thanks so much for bringing all of the neat stuff out regarding this series. Looking back it was really hoaky but from my 8-year old eyes then, it was a blast into the future and an amazing time.

Another great video, Dan. When the question came up about the movie, I thought it was notable that they all said "No"...except Bill Mumy. Ironic because when the 1998 movie came out, June Lockhart, Mark Goddard and Marta Kristen were in it and Mumy was not. BTW, when I saw the film version in '98 I couldn't have been the only one who expected Mumy to show up as old/future Will. To paraphrase you..."How COOL would THAT have been?!?!?". Thanks again for the great content, man!

When I was a kid, I always laughed like everyone else at Dr. Smiths complaint about his back. Now that I am older, I have diagnosed his troubles as kidney stones. I have had them and have had two surgically removed. If they stay in your kidney, they can provide back pain at the most inopportune time but it can fade. With pain killers, you can get through it. But it is debilitating. Would love to hear Will Mumy's thoughts on this interpretation. Thoughts from a urologist would be interesting too. (You heard it hear first. Or please point me to another reference. I'd be curious if anyone else thought the same.)

As a kid you never noticed it was a spoof. The one that sticks in my mind is the one with the silver space lady that Dr Smith kept seeing at the window. PS. If you ever go on location with a prop robot of any kind, the sight of crew struggling to carry an ungainly torso will bring back smiles.

I believe she was green, not silver. (Floating and "singing", right ?) Even as a child I knew that many of the b+w episodes were "scarier" My favorite is the one where Debbie pushes Penny through a magic mirror, into a dimension inhabited by Michael Pollard. Tragic ending, I still think of it occasionally when looking into a mirror.

There was so much MORE to the show ! What about the GREAT episode with the Frozen Ship of Prisoners ? That was almost on par with a Star Trek episode! On a side note: I am also a HUGE fan of the Mary Tyler Moore Show and let me tell you ; Chuckles the Clown (his death) is the Carrot Man of the MTM show !

I wouldn't say "Condemned of Space" is on par with a Star Trek episode. Well, maybe "Spock's Brain" or "Turnabout Intruder". Episodes on par with Star Trek would be like "Invaders from the Fifth Dimension" or "The Keeper".

The "Lost In Space" movie was pretty terrible. I've never seen a more tonally jarring movie in my life. BUT the theme music by Apollo 440 was the best reworking of a them I've ever heard. It was outrageously kick ass but kept all of the elements we love so much about the original. They included the majestic trumpet section in all it's glory. It was my most important music when I went running for many years. If you can get your hands on it and you run or walk, play it and just TRY to slow down!

With the budgets for TV shows back in the 1980's, I think it's probably a good thing that Lost in Space didn't get revived to see them come home. I personally don't want to see a repeat of anything like Galactica 1980, where it seemed like the network was so incredibly cheap. Then again, back in the late 1960's, the budget for Batman Season 3 had been cut so much that--more or less--ruined the show. (Added) Heck, due to cheap networks, we couldn't even see the full potential of The Powers of Matthew Star.
