I don’t know if most people think about finding personal relics. Yeah, I’d love to find gold coins or maybe a Lord Baltimore coin, the reality of metal detecting is that we find stuff. Rings are my personal favorite because of the intimacy of the item with the owner, they wore it everyday. Buttons are rarely decorated unless it’s a bored creative colonist with a knife and hammer. Those buttons followed the owner through their day to day lives and I’ll take buttons over pull tabs or shotgun shells

Buttons and rings are two of my favorite finds as well for the same reason.

Your videos are very interesting to me because that period in history was so fast paced and violent. White men pushing the natives farther west. Indian raids on settlers. Three countries fighting for the land and trade with the natives.I find it amazing that you can find those very small pieces of history seemingly all over in the woods. Are there other detectorists in your area doing the same thing? I think it is fascinating, the things you recover. Keep up the good work.

Thank you, that is the very same reason I hunt these relics. I love the history of this time period. Also, There are more detectorists that hunt this era in the same area as me. I try to stay one step ahead through research and diligent cataloging of my sites. Thank you for watching.

That plug is so wierd ,hey? I have a place in NE Wisco. Gotta cut thru a layer of plant roots, then theres pure sand. Its strange.

That is strange. I find the natives liked the sand. Was easier to dwell in I would guess.

Really enjoying your videos after getting recommended on my feed. Subscribed. I’m based out of Indiana and would love to learn out to find similar sites down here. Anything you consider must know when it comes to research strategies?

Welcome to the channel. I start by researching Archeological web sites and books on old native village sites as well as look for old maps to identify potential trading posts or fort locations. Once I have a general area I try to look for natural features such as points, springs, rivers etc.
