Excellent work on finding the cemetery! The next time you visit, you should be able to get up there, you can add a marker on Google Maps. Because your descendants, cousins, may want to find it some day!

I have a cemetery in Jackson County that was very similar. Once abandoned over a feud and my grandpa pushed my dad to find it. Once we did we had to get the two men who were feuding to make amends after many years. After that was resolved it took a lot of work getting overgrowth cleared out and the road drivable just so we can constantly maintain it. Now I am the only who keeps it maintained but we have distant relatives from all over who have much interest in genealogy that will randomly come by and visit.

@@familytreenutshistorygenealogy It definitely is. I’m in my 30’s and often the youngest to show up to their family reunions. I adore how excited they get hearing about how it’s being maintained and not forgotten.

Im trying to find my family who was in Kentucky and on the site. I see a dna last name Maupin and Thompson on this site. We were also attached to the Cushenberrys and Quesinberry. I wanted to take a trip to bring my grandmother who just turned 99, but the virus has stopped us. Amanda Cushenberry was a slave born in or around 1831, she was the owners daughter. Wow, this is something.

Maupin & Thompson definitely is a popular name for over 200 years in the area. I do know of a Quesinberry Lane very near hear too, in the vicinity of “Lisletown”.

I hope this cemetery has been recorded on Findagrave. And you can add the GPS coordinates to the cemetery information on their website, and photos taken of the tombstones that remain to create memorials. A fellow who lives over in the next county (Montgomery) found a tombstone sticking up out of the ground in one of his cow pastures and I helped him create the cemetery on Findagrave. He took photos of the tombstones, he sent them to me and I recorded the cemetery. Turned out it was some of my Fletcher relatives! 😊

I would have liked to see some grave markers of some kind. I had relatives in Zionsville In where I used to deer hunt. There was a very old lost cemetery there. Maybe a half mile from SR 421 or Michigan rd. which is the oldest road in indiana, used to be a wagon trail.. I always assumed they were people who died on the trail.

There is a cemetery in the park across Western State Hospital, not far from the old (torn down) mental institution. The grave stones were bricks with numbers overgrown with weeds and grass. I walked thru the old institution before it was torn down. A couple of the chains and shackles still hung on the wall. Also, there were large rooms with rows of broken beds.

Nothing like finding your ancestors, it's like they've come home, their your blood. I started working on mine, before a computer was even a household item, I had to use the mail, so many twists, and turns in these families, but it's been fun.
