Lost Angel: The Genius of Judee Sill (Official Teaser Trailer)
LOST ANGEL: THE GENIUS OF JUDEE SILL is an intimate documentary portrait of a one-of-a-kind singer-songwriter from 1970s LA - Judee Sill. It charts her life from a troubled adolescence of addiction, armed robbery and prison through her meteoric rise in the music world and early tragic death.
In two years, Judee went from living in a car to a deal with Asylum Records and the cover of Rolling Stone. As told by David Geffen, Linda Ronstadt, JD Souther, Jackson Browne and Graham Nash -- along with Judee herself -- the film explores Judee’s unique musical style and the inspiring recent rediscovery of her singular music fostered by Shawn Colvin, Robin Pecknold of Fleet Foxes, Adrianne Lenker and Buck Meek of Big Thief, and Weyes Blood.
World Premiere at #DOCNYC 8PM November 13, 2022 SVA Theater

I have been a Judee Sill fan since i first heard Lady -O, I recently purchased the "Lost Angel" DVD and it sent so many emotions threw my soul. I have to admit I cried alot watching it as im sure alot of people will do. 5 minutes before the ending they showed some comments on KZread made by some people and mine was there[Canarsie56} now i am forever connected with one of the greatest songwriters of all time and yes it gave me the chills and more tears-God bless this beautiful woman
A few weeks ago I had Crayon Angels just start playing on my phone in the middle of the night. I had never heard it before. I was going through a difficult couple of weeks and the lyrics spoke directly to me. I’m on a deep spiritual path and when looking into her later I was shocked to learn the song was from 1971. The esoteric references seem so modern. I’m absolutely in love with eclectic music like hers and I’m sure I was guided to find her music. I’m very interested is seeing this.

That is so beautiful… how you came to discover her… or how she came to you! My body is covered with goosebumps right now. I found her on the radio by accident, listening to the NPR special on her. It instantly hit a nerve with me and I only listened to her music for months after that and I continue to love her so much. That spiritual connection of her coming to you like that…absolutely blows me away!
Ive been waiting for YEARS for something like this, or just one damn book about Judee. Will this be coming out on Blu-ray/dvd? Please don't let it go to a streaming service. She truly was a glorious, melodic genius, and the production on her albums...beautiful. Her LIve in London the one I love to play the most. Even her speaking voice was sublime. Just a word to all those future fans...please don't say she was under-rated when what you really mean is over-looked.

Since I discovered her I have been intensely fascinated with her, such an amazing and unique songwriter, with a biography as unique as her music. it was about time that her story had to be told
So fucking excited for this. Judee is one of the most inspirational artists I've ever had the honor of listening to. Finding her changed my life and I am so forever grateful that she brought what she did to the world. Love you so much Judee.

I feel that way too ! I do think it is a good thing people are covering her music and keeping it alive 50 years after it was written, but I don't think anyone can come close to how good the originals were... she was THAT special
Briefly considered spending $250 on a virtual pass to the Sarasota Film Festival just to see this. Surely can't be too long before it's released on streaming? Please?
if you don't luv judee ......can't wait to see this docu!!!!!!

Beautiful. I can’t wait to watch this. Legendary artist.
Great documentary feature film about an amazing, unique talent. Incredible archival footage by researcher Wyatt Stone. I am so happy to be introduced to Ms. Sill's body of work.
C'mon, blu-ray please!
WORLD OF PUSH AND SHOVE 😢❤😢
incredible, I can't wait!! the first time I ever heard Adrianne Lenker or any of Judee Sill's music was when she played The Kiss as their first song, opening for Frankie Cosmos in like 2015. It made me weep. I'd never heard Big Thief before either, but I was so blown away I barely paid attention to the main act. I could never remember the name of the song, only that it had been one of the most beautiful pieces of music I'd ever heard. A few years ago I was telling someone how I only ever wanted to listen to Elliott Smith, and that nobody came close to him for me. They recommended Judee and I've been so in love ever since, and so glad to finally find that song again after so many years! While I don't think her style of music is really similar to Elliott, she's one of very few people I'd put on par with him in terms of the combination of beautiful and haunting melodies, insanely evocative lyrics, and just an uncanny ability to hit me where few things can. I'm really looking forward to learning more about her in this film, would love to know where I can buy a copy when it comes out!
