I think it was "stay away" as if it cut out the first part. I also remember them spoiling the ending in the promo which pissed me off lol.

The scene of young Ben getting abused always breaks my heart. Sterling Beaumon did a terrific job.

Sayid's character arc is just so brutal through this series... finds redemption in the early seasons and it just goes downhill from there... I think an element which people overlook also is that, while Sayid is manipulated by Ben into killing all those people, Sayid still chooses to do so out of his anger and need for vengeance for someone who he loved perhaps WAY too much. S1x21 'The Greater Good' explores this same theme of how much Sayid was willing to do anything for Nadia, and how it also drove him to similarly poor choices. And how, in a mirror situation, Sayid chose the better decision to put the lives of others before his own love for someone - in that case he put the good of the group and Locke's life over his love for Shannon and her desire for vengeance for Boone's death. He really loved Shannon, but NEVER to the detriment of himself or others around him. Sayid's love for Nadia is sweet, but it's its intensity which is what drove him to make poor choices... This episode really highlights that and it definitively is the low of all his lows... but nonetheless still a great episode!

I think his feelings for Shannon were similar, we see him fall to similar old habits after her death. He's fine with having tortured Henry Gale. I think the difference is that Sayid's actions with Nadia, similar to Shannon, is something he justified to himself, in both cases it was to protect those he cared about. Him torturing Sawyer, to help Shannon, is him justifying his actions with the service of helping someone.

I know this season is crazy with the time jumping but I really think this season is really solid overall, and it is really underrated.

lol ben didnt kill the dharma people, in season 4 ben said it wasnt his call, because he wasnt the leader. it was either join the others or die with the dharma.

Honestly, they could've just said that Sayid was part of their crew back when they came to Darmaville and that he had been lost in the jungle on the hostiles' turf for 3 years or something. Or Sawyer could've just came clean and convinced them he was a good guy. There were a bunch of ways to do this that lead to not torturing him possibly making him spill the beans on Sawyer and the rest and putting them in more danger than if they just came clean.

It was Sayid's fault for being a dumbass. All he had to do was join the Dharma Initiate and follow Sawyer's plan. He kept refusing and being laid back about everything, leading to this chain of events.

@Lesley Yeah true. I don't know why he would automatically just call him a hostile like that other than to make some sort of problem for the plot. He was so aggressive to the guy before, but now he is afraid to just tell him that he was part of their crew or something. He could've just said to him that he thought he was dead all this time. Sayid is a good enough liar to play along too. Oh well I love Lost anyways.

Gotta give credit where credit is due. Suraj show uncharacteristic restraint through most of this viewing. For the most part, he was able to curb his instinct to mansplain things. 10:23 Here, he even went as far as asking if his mansplanation was necessary. Of course, Rana effectively said "no" and he tried to mumble some mansplanation anyway. And 11:33 here, when Nikki was merely asking about the nature of that drug they injected Sayid with, Suraj decided to mansplain something she wasn't even asking about and started giving the "history" between the "hostiles" and the Dharma Initiative. But overall, he was much, much better and against his "better" instincts, more respectful to the first-time viewers.

Are there a lot of Arabs that really don't like Arab/Islamic society? Rana looked like she had some rage in her about it. Unlike the right-wing in America, I don't judge each individual Muslim, or person from the Middle East. But, also - unlike my fellow progressives - I find it hard to defend Islamic culture as it seems antithetical the liberal values. But that's also how I feel about Judaism and Evangelical Christians and conservative Catholics. What irritates me about my fellow Christians, they aren't very Christlike. Although, as I understand it, when it comes to taking care of the poor and the sick... Muslims are of the same mind as Jews, and true Christians.

The only scenes they didn't film in Hawaii were Widmore's in London in season 4 (and the season 5 premiere I think) and some street and hospital scenes in LA in the s3 finale (Jack's flashforwards). The rest including this episode were all filmed in Hawaii.

Oldham is played by veteran character actor Willian Sanderson from Bladerunner (1982) and Deadwood series. He was also Larry, of Larry, Darryl and the other brother Darryl of the Newhart series.

That line, repeated every episode, and the very awesome series finale is all I really remember. But the actor also played the Sheriff of Bon Temps on True Blood for a few seasons. Then the show diverged significantly from the books, and he ended up becoming a season villain. I hear they're working on a reboot. True Blood's series finale was really awful, in hindsight. Just like the last 3 seasons. Lost is still my favorite series finale.

Just spent my whole night after getting home from work watching you guys watching lost so cool love you guys especially rana thank u Suraj wish I could follow you guys but I only got Facebook no Instagram Evangeline Lilly is a incredible person.

Lol why did they immediately assumed Ben was dead? Like, how many times in this show people got shot and survived? And why did the girl in the middle start talking about a new timeline being created or Ben dissapearing in the future when up to this point the show has already established that there's only one timeline and you can go foward and backwards but never create another one??? And also, "what happened, happened" and it CANT be changed, so all of this had already happened in the past of adult Ben and so did the events from the rest of the characters future. Meaning that nothing they do during time travel can affect any of that. How is that so hard to understand? :/

I really don't like Sayid after Seasons 5 and 6. He used to be one my favorites in earlier seasons but the way the writing handles him is just... Not good. He turns into an unlikable and unreasonable asshat for most of the remainder of the series, for absolutely no reason. None of his calm/cold attitutde in face of dire situations, no concern for his companions which was one of his defining traits, and honestly none of his brains either. That said this is still a great episode with a great ending.
