ear heavenly father , I come to you with this very serious illness and virus asking you to do a healing miracle in my body, my family's bodies and every bodys who is affected, for your son Jesus said that everything is possible for one who believes. Help me overcome any vestiges of unbelief and purify my faith so that I lean in on you in firm confidence that you will heal me and others. To the glory of my savior, forever and ever Amen .

Got Covid back in June. Been almost 7 months and still no smell. It literally feels like a light switch turned off. I wouldn’t wish this upon my worst enemy, it’s pure torture. Is something burning? Is this food old in the fridge? Do I smell a gas leak? Do I smell after the gym? You never know how much something truly means to you until it’s gone. I’m staying positive it will return. Stay in the fight guys. ✊🏽✊🏾✊🏻✊🏿

I was not able to smell or taste anything for 2 weeks after I was tested positive for covid. During those two weeks, I did steaming daily and also took Vitamin C and Zinc tablets which were really effective. During the third week, I was able to smell strong smelling substances like deo, nail polish, camphor, etc and I got my smell and taste back gradually. It's been a month now and both my senses have been restored back to normal. I can smell and taste 100% now 😊 . Wishing everybody a speedy recovery 😁

I tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday. The only symptoms I'm having is loss of smell and let me say this: we as people reaaaaally take things for granted, and I'm not saying that in a cocky manner but we really don't value what we have until we lose them and this is extremely scary for me. I sympathize with all who has lost love ones or is going through this themselves. Please, prayer is needed, here. Thxs.

Then it went from my head to my chest. Thats when I got really sick. Like ER sick. Couldnt breath, fever, coughing. The whole 9. My body wash is also a very faint smell but I am seeing improvements. Keep doing the Olfactory training and when you take a sniff of something just relax and concentrate on that smell, meditate on it, picture the object in your mind. gently inhale through your nose and exhale gently through your mouth. don't over do it, spend about a minute or so doing this twice a day. Your smell is going to come back slowly not suddenly. It's a marathon not a sprint, this takes time and it will be hard to notice improvements day by day. but the fact that you can smell anything is proof that your nerves still work. Living without any smell is pure torture. Our sense of flavour is 90% our sense of smell. That is how we distinguish the different flavours of spices, and different foods in general. I can only feel the texture of the food I'm eating, and can tell whether its salty or sweet. Nothing else. No flavour or anything. I know its not nearly as bad as having difficulty breathing and all, but it is truly demoralising to have your favourite food in front of you and knowing you will not be able to feel any flavour when you eat it. Its been 14 days and no sense of smell yet. I'm holding strong and hoping hard that it comes back soon. I simply can't carry on without it.

I'm really happy to hear that as well! When this symptom of a SARS-CoV2 infection was first described, no one new for sure if it was permanent or temporary. The studies out of Harvard were encouraging since they found no evidence of neuronal injury or bulbar atrophy. The assumption that the senses would normalize when the support cells healed was congruent with anecdotal reports of a transient loss. However, with a lot of people on this channel reporting prolonged anosmia, parosmia and phantosmia, I was a little concerned that delayed rejuvenation of the glial cells would lead to eventual neuronal damage and possible permanent loss. Your case is very encouraging that, even after months of positive symptoms, recovery is still possible. Really appreciate you sharing! I'm sure it will be very encouraging for others looking for answers!! Stay well.

Hi there, first of all thanks for the video, it was a big help to me to understand what was going on inside my body. I lost my sense of smell for about 10 days, always had my sense of taste but as my sense of smell has started to recover I find that things also have more taste. To anyone watching the video, if you are going through this too, you have my sympathy but don't lose heart, I have read that the olfactory nerve system constantly regenerates itself and typically takes 6-8 weeks to complete a regeneration cycle. So there is plenty of hope for you to recover. My sense of smell started to come back 2 weeks ago, I could only smell a few things at first and very faintly and most things I still couldn't smell. Then the things I could smell got stronger and I could smell new things that the previous day I couldn't. My recovery has been gradual and is at about 80-85% now, and each day improving. I have been doing smell training for 2 weeks now with a specific kit of essential oils but, I also regularly smell things around the house as I have a reference to how they should smell. I have also been eating plenty of fruits and vegetables and making sure to get enough omega 3, ground flax, ground chia and walnuts everyday and making sure to get enough B12. On the recommendation of a doctor I have also been taking 600mg of Alpha Lipoic Acid each day as well. I don't know if any or all of this helped but I am very grateful that my sense of smell is returning and improving each day. I have noticed that it is not as strong in the morning but much stronger by the afternoon with certain scents, other scents seem less affected by this and have the same strength of odour, although these are the scents that I started to recover first, like mint, eucalyptus and citrus. Don't lose heart, I know it is difficult. Do your research and help yourself as much as you can with diet and smell training. I wish you all the best and a swift recovery.

I'm 18 years old, and I got a sore throat and felt dizzy within infection, and it prodominatly and substantially has taken away my smell, and my taste, they aren't all gone but my smell is way worse then my tasting, it's been about 3 months and gradually my smelling has became better, but it's still not to it's optimal self, and as to everyone going through this, just keep a positive outlook on things, I've had a very rough time mentally grasping this all, and I've really lost myself, but pick yourselves up and don't let it drag you down much love (and with the smell it's gotten better as in with soaps and dishsoap I can smell better, or if it's sauce like ketchup or acidic, like mayonnaise I can smell it, and peanut butter)

It’s like being in the twilight zone because smell and taste are 40% of sensory input. For me, it’s caused nausea (from phantom smells) and a level of anxiety (something I don’t normally struggle with) due to not being able to smell the world around me. What I’ve been using to gauge my sense of smell is numerous essential oils. I’ve been smelling them daily to 1. Stimulate my sense of smell and 2. Gauge if it’s getting any better. I could smell them a little stronger today, so I’m praying it’s a sign of recovery.

@@MaliEndz As of today, 2-8-21 I still do not have complete taste or smell. However, I have been getting my taste back slightly and very slowly but it's still not 100% maybe 50-60% at best. As for my smell, also not 100%. I can slightly smell things up close but if there was a fire in the house, I'd probably see the smoke first before I could smell it, sucks. I would say smell up close is about 50-60% also but smell far away and foul smells, I'm at maybe 45% for smells far away and like 30% for foul smells, don't mind that part too much because when I'm changing my new baby's diapers, I wont be able to smell it lol but I prefer to be back to normal either way. I've been taking Vitamin D3, Zinc, vitamin B, and C. Magnesium but not as consistently as I should be, hard to get into that routine everyday for me. Next step is going to be to the ENT Dr. To see if He/she has any recommendations and more emphasis on taking vitamins more frequently. At least I got a little bit of both back but I had Covid since January 1st and it's the 8th of Feb. so hopefully the end of this month it might be a little better because it's been pretty annoying so far.

@@MaliEndz Also forgot to add, my nose has been extremely dry throughout the process and probably a big reason my smell and taste aren't 100% yet, in my opinion. The inside feels like sandpaper more often than not and like I'm congested but the airways are completely open. Its weird, but that's starting to change slightly so I'm hoping after that feeling goes away, it'll mean my senses have completely returned.

Put 5-6 drops of each oil on water color paper and put the paper inside a brown or amber colored jar. Take short bursts of smell 2x/day for 20 seconds each time, for at least 4 months, and track the progress of your sense of smell. Hope this helps!

Imagine having caught CoVid-19 in October and still having troubles with smell and taste in march. That's what I experience, and it's starting to affect my ability to feel vividly. One of the characteristics of the olfactory bulbs is that a lot of smell is detected and processed only subconsciously. The detection are primarily linked to perceiving the surroundings, but also in a higher degree than any other sense connected to emotions and memories. I have this one odour and taste (the same), that I've never smelled before, and now suddenly it overrides almost any tastes and odours I detect, presumably both conc and subconc. I'd call it phantosmia, but it's not an odour I've ever experienced consciously. It's ruining taste-experiences for me, and the fact that the odour itself is appauling is not really helping me. Do someone educated have an answer as to how I can train it away?

It's different for everybody. Luckily, I never lost my taste, but did lose smell for a week completely. It went in and out for the next two days after. Try doing a sinus rinse and maybe take a really good hot shower or just turn on the water as hot as it can be and sit (create a sauna basically). Also, take something that usually has a very strong smell (garlic, rosemary, coffee, etc) and put it in a ziplock bag. Take a couple of sniffs throughout the day and start "training". same thing happened to me and my friend. I believe the foul tasting phase is a good thing cause your brain is trying to fix your smell.

Whether you can smell or not has no effects on how you get high, has nothing to do with it

I also had covid with mild symptoms, it been a month, and thankfully I tested negative even tho I am still losing the smell, I can only smell something that comes with a strong odor like soap, essential oil, or toothpaste, another thing that really annoyed me its whenever I eat its like someone pinching my nose, I can taste the sweet, sour, spicy, etc but just not the flavor of the food. I heard many ppl with this symptom come back within a few days, I am scared it could be permanent ==

As I wrote this comment a week ago and I found out about this olfactory treatment, I started to use the method and it works! Now I am around 70-80%. If you are suffering with loss of smell please try this.

understandable, however as in my case i recovered the ability to taste and smell but just barely and then started getting unbearable flavor and odor from certain foods specifically from poultry and dairy products unless the dairies were sour like yogurt and its been a while since i recovered so is this permanent?

I had Covid in early July and completely lost my taste and smell. That said I could tell if the food in my mouth was sweet, salty or spicy. It is now January 4th and there has been little improvement. My sense of smell is far better than my sense of taste. I can taste strong flavours like black licorice, garlic and root beer but that's about it. I'm in the process of following the smell retraining suggestion. I bought Rose, Lemon, Clove and Eucalyptus essential oils.

I'm going through the same thing. It's been 5 months and miss it. I smell cigarette smoke that ain't there and if I can smell it's extremely short lived. My husband smell like short bread when I can smell. I miss his scent, I miss the smell of coffee and my candles.
