Dear Baylee, So sorry for your loss, he looked like such a sweet little guy. I'm glad you had each other. Don't worry about what people say. I never trust anybody who doesn't love animals. You're a very caring and compassionate person. We have a Cairn right now and he's nine years old and we have to keep an eye on him because he keeps getting lumps, (so far they are benign.) I know if he comes down with cancer we will have him put to sleep when he starts to suffer. I especially would never let a dog go through cancer treatments because I've been through it myself. Last year and part of this year I was fighting esphogial cancer, and two years before that I started having a lot of pain that would come and go, and many other warnings which I didn't pick up on. I know how much pain there is from the cancer, and the chemo and radiation and the surgery and even after that. It was almost unbearable. Yes, I would never let my baby go through that. I think you did the right thing because he was just starting to suffer and it would only have gotten worse. We're probably old enough to be your parents and have had many pets through the years. I've lost almost all my family members and the only thing I know is that none of them died a peaceful painless death. For an animal to have that option I think is a blessing for them. When I was going through all my treatments I was just living from minute to minute, the pain was so unbearable. I'm glad I was able to make it through, but I never would put that on my little pet. He's my baby. You're such a sweet girl, both you and your baby will be in our prayers. Best wishes and hope you feel better soon.

This made me cry. Not too long ago I was one of those people who thought "It's sad that your dog died, but it's still just a dog" but a little over two years ago my family got our first dog, and this video was a reminder to love her continuously and to not just think of her as only a dog. I appreciate you telling us about your loss, because sharing our losses helps us to become closer and recover a little more quickly but that does not mean we will forget our loved ones, it only means we will live happily knowing they are never truly gone but with us in spirit...forever in our hearts.

Just remember, Ben can always be around you. His spirit will never be apart from yours.

i'm crying, crying got me thinking about my brother's cat Bountie. she wasn't sick, she had a stroke or something. she was a bit weak before but nothing crazy, i was with her 15 mins before and suddendly she started meowing really loud, falling, couldn't stand up, she peed herself and started to convulse. She died in front of my eyes. i was devastated. Not because of her death (it's not my cat) but because i saw it, because i couldn't do anything and because i kept thinking about my own baby who's 16 years old now and i'm afrais of loosing him every day. the day after, i cried for like 2 hours, talking to my cat and ... oh gosh hardest day ever. I lost my first cat when i was 13, he was just 5 years old and he got killed by a car or something, my mum found the body so she didn't know for sure but yeah; when she announced it to me, i mean .. the pain level is a non sense, it hurt me so much i couldn't breathe. I was locked in my room, yelling in a pillow, crying ...and for days i was a total wreck. People who say it's just a pet can't understand. My cat isn't a pet, he's my best friend and child combined. 2 months after my first cat died, we got a new kitten. Couldn't live without a cat. but the thing is, i love him much more, it's crazy. I miss him when i go out for the day. And i'm so so so scared of how he's going to go. I know euthanasia is quite hard as a decision but i still prefer that over watching him having a stroke or be in so much pain that he can't even be himself. I know my baby is old and that he can go anytime, which is why it's hard and i try to enjoy every moment. I truely understand your feelings, i've been through this as well. I can't tell if i would take the plane because i moved WITH my cat, i wouldn't leave him, he needs me. But if i was away and he stayed at my mum's place or something and i was in a different city, i would have travel for sure. Anyway that's a super long comment as always. I'm sorry for your loss, it's really hard when you don't expect it and it happens in such a short time :( I guess it's just a matter of time, focus on good memories and all his happy life and not how it ended. The last day isn't the most important, it's all days that happened before when he was just a happy dog. I remember the pain i felt for my fist cat death, still cristal clear in my mind, but i also remember all the good times and even if 5 years is really short, he had 5 years of happiness. Ben was lucky to be with you and your family

A month after this video, I lost one of my dogs, Mugsy. He was acting really strange, and he just was wandering around our house and yard. When I picked him up, he nipped at me. He was blind and partially deaf, but that didn't stop him from getting around. We put him in his cage, and then we went to church. When my dad and I got back, I heard a choking noise. We think that he had a seizure, threw up, and aspirated it. We couldn't do much, because he was so old. We put him down so he wouldn't suffer. This video helped me. Love you Mugsy.

Baylee, I'm so sorry for your loss. I also started crying as I lost my beloved hamster a year ago and I miss her so much. Don't worry though, I'm sure you'll manage to cope but I do know how it feels losing a beloved family member. She died either of old age (she was 4 years old) or because of diarrhea. It was such a hard time coming home from ballet and seeing her little limp body in her cage. Messy, I miss you so much and you are forever in our hearts.

My cat isn't just my cat. He's my big brother. My parents have had him before I was before, and he is still with is today. It makes me cry just thinking about the day when he goes...Although I won't fully understand how it feels yet, my heart goes out to you. Dear Ben I love you.....I miss you......

Was I the only one who held their dog/ cat super close to them while watching this?

I'm so sorry Baylee... I know how you feel.. My little hamster passed away 3 weeks ago in my arms due to an internal tumor/cancer. Watching your video made me really relate, and I feel the same way you do... I personally teared up a bit. Baylee, I am so sorry for your loss. He's in a better place now, and he's not in pain anymore. Just remember that it's not goodbye forever, as you'll see him again one day 💖 Best wishes Baylee.

It is not extreme to fly home for Ben. He was a member of your family and your actions were justified 100%. I commented that a similar situation happened to me to you on twitter, but I didn't know just how similar. My cat sam was almost 11. Orange tabby cat who was head honcho but a snuggle bug when no one was watching. He had been sticking his tongue out for a month or two and we just figured it was cat being silly. One day I saw drool from his mouth and a little blood in it so I made an appt for the vet. He told me that it was probably a tooth infection, to give him antibiotics and when it clears up to bring him in to remove the tooth. We gave him the medicine but he wasnt getting any better and had stopped eating so I brought him back a week later on a thursday. The vet told me that we had to schedule the surgery sooner and I did it for the following Monday since they had no open spots till then. My husband brought him in that morning and was told to come back at 6ish, so when he got off work he asked if I wanted to go with him to pick him up. Normally he would've just gone himself but for whatever reason we both went. The vet told us that they didn't do the surgery. As soon as they put him under for it, the vet found a large tumor in his right jaw bone and gave us three options. Let him live the rest of his life as comfortable as he could be at home, go through with an experimental surgery that would leave a tube in his stomach and it might give us 3 weeks to 3 months or it might not even work, plus it was crazy expensive, or stop his suffering humanely. We said our goodbyes and held him and petted him as the vet did his thing I 100% agree that it's so hard. It's the hardest thing in the world. Having to make the hardest damn choice in the entire world. It's been almost 6 months since it happened and I still cry about it. I still miss him. I always will. and I don't know if this will help you or if you'll even read the monolithic novel I've typed up, but please know it's ok to still be hurt by this in a month, ,and in a year etc. Don't let anyone tell you that you aren't allowed to grieve and miss him and cry about it for as long as you want. For us, our grieving process was sped by adopting a new kitten to distract us and fill the hole in our cat family, but everyone is different and no one way is wrong. Super sorry this is long, if you read this far thank you Baylee. We don't know each other (but I think we'd get along if we did!) but I just felt compelled to type this up and share. If you'd like I can link you to a girl who does pet portraits (for a crazy low price, ) and it's stylized but she can capture the quirks from just a paragraph and a few pictures and it's quite lovely. My deepest sympathies for your entire family.

I cried when I thought my baby kitty she is not just my kitty she's my younger sister was gone we got to a restaurant with karts and also u can plan parties while eating I saw a kitten that ooks like my kitty I was sad when we got home she was back then last April 7 2016 I saw her with new born kitties. She had babies in midnight under our dinner table. Also I'm so so so sorry for your loss

Re watching this 8months after I watched it before makes me so sad I lost my cat Tom-Tom in June he had kidney failure I had him 13years he vomited about 3times within 2months he vomited last week of May then first of June again we though it was just a fur ball as he used to get fur balls quite a lot then I thought about it and realised it was only about a week ago he vomited and I grew very concerned we were losing him the second week of June arrived the week end came and he stopped eating and drinking during the weekend after Thursday and Friday trying to get his urine for the vet he just went down hill Monday came still wasn't eating or drinking that night he had a seizure so Tuesday morning my mum rang the vet and made the appointment for him instead of taking our dog in and there was nothing they could do for him he was put to sleep my mum tried to buy some time for me to get in there but the vet said he wouldn't make it long enough he's too far gone,

I lost my kitty today. I feel so sorry. I know how much it just HURTS to have your best friend suddenly taken away from you. RIP.

So this certain night I went to sleep and my cat Toby died through the night. He started to pee on the sofa and my mum brought him outside to do it. Then he was dizzy and dropped onto the floor my brother came in to see Toby. But he slowly started to die in my mums arms and she woke me and my sister up and my brother said bye and we all said bye to our furry friend. And I care about animals so much I care about them very much, but I hope this doesn't happen to any of your family members. But I love watching your videos, and I am 8 and I really like drawing so I love your vids!

Hey Baylee, so sorry for your loss. I know it's difficult now but think of the good times you had with him. All my positive thoughts to you. As petowners we have the privilege to have them in our lives with all the love, laughter and argues. And you can argue with a dog - for shure. When the life of our beloved furry family member has to come to an end because of sickness it is our job to protected them from immense pain. This is our dammed duty. And cancer does immense pain. You took the right decision. This is fact. I know it awfully hurts now, but it will get better. Remember him as the joyful dog that he was.

I know that this is from a little while ago, but the same exact thing happened to my dog. She was also nine and had the same cancer. She passed 3 days after we found out that she had it. We ended up putting her down to minimalism her suffering. And i completely agree, Dogs are family and you need to love and treat them like they are. Im so sorry for your loss.RIP Ginger and RIP Ben

Thats so lovely but i have to be honest it made me cry because it just took me right back to losing my dog when she had cancer and i was there when she got euthanised and i just saw her little eyes close it just broke me

TheEnglishMuffin my rabbit's only six n....I never had pets growing up so she's my one n only, and.... constantly hearing things like "oh, bunnies...they never last long. they go quick. they go fast" so annoying. but I focus on the days that she's around. hope u find comfort in knowing they (our pets) had great lives under human care :)

I'm so sorry for your loss. We've all seen how close you two were and how much you loved Ben. I can't help but cry with you because I had pretty close to the same story happen to me. I had a Cairn Terrier who was almost 15 when she past away about a year and a half ago and she was my and my Mom's first dog. My Mom was working at a pet store and she was sick and all alone so kind of like your story with Ben. She had diabetes and she was blind and went on her own. I know it's hard and it feels like a piece of your life has been ripped away but i know they're in a better place than being here and in pain. Xoxo

I'm the same way with my dog. The love you get from a pet is special and don't let anyone tell you that what you're feeling is silly or wrong. Remember to be grateful for all of the days you did get with him and all of the love you shared. You will get through this, and although he's passed on, he's still in your heart and life forever. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I lost my cat, Peggy, maybe three years ago. It's painful. It really is. She just ran away because she was around 17, 18. She was so unwell in her last days, unable to walk, wetting herself on the spot, endless meowing, thinness. It's so painful seeing your baby being in pain but you know that letting them go is for the best, and we understand you.

I'm so sorry Baylee. I completely understand how you feel. We lost our 10 year old family dog Pancho back in 2010, on father's day. I miss him so much. He was more than a dog to us. He was my brother. People who think they are superior to animals see only a dog or a cat, but fail to realize that these creatures are people too. Your video made me tear up. I am crying watching your blog. I know how you are feeling and how Ben was part of your family. I have lost pets over the years and it hurts so much. I know that there are no words that I can say to make you feel better. You did the right thing by flying to Medicine Hat to see him. R.I.P Ben over the rainbow bridge. Oh Baylee, I'm so sorry for your loss. I know at this point that it's been a few months, but I know the pain is still there. I know how difficult it is to lose furry family. Last year I had my cat, who I'd had FOREVER, pass away. I understand the tears. I love your channels and watching you.

I am so sorry to hear that you have lost your fur baby I know how you feel as i felt the same when I lost my fur baby but try to remember the good times you had with him I lost my fur baby over 5 years and I still cry at the loss of my best friend but try and do something to help you all go through this hard time may be plant a tree or make a little garden where you can spend some time and think of the good times you had with him. this happened to both of my cats. straight away when she said the side effects of what Ben was having before going to the vet, instantly i was like CANCER. I started crying soo much because i had both of my cats photos in my room i feel sorry for her and everyone who has to lose a family member

Baylee I'm so so sorry for your loss. I know that it's probably hard. I have yet to loose one of mine, and I've never gone through it before. And the fact that I basically cried throughout this whole video I know it will be a struggle when that time comes and I do believe that you did the right thing and saved him from the pain.

Your vlog that I watched 1st, you talked about not vlogging a lot and being in a funk. Baylee I watched the funk one 1st and realize now after finding out about Ben. With that big loss, that explains why your having a hard time getting back into vlogging etc. Of course your in a funk girl. I've had pets in the past but... my two boxers that I have now are my children, best friends and well brother and sister. I love them to death...and I cannot imagine loosing them. I cry just thinking about it sometimes. I hope you know how much you are loved and appreciated. We know you feel like an underdog at youtube events but honestly... you seem like one of the nicest people ever. Not sure how to end this post but... sending my love your way!

I know you will hear this a lot but I am truly sorry for your loss. From what I've seen and know of Scotties, your little boy looked like a true champ. I have a 5 year old Scottish terrier called Radley and just watching this video really made me see and think of him in a different way. I know it's going to be hard but stay strong and remember the good and funny moments you had with him.

I knew I shouldn't have watched this video because of the title, even though I never met Ben I've been crying with you the whole video. I wish I could have hugged you. Stay strong, best wishes for you and your family. xx

I'm sorry Baylee. I know exactly what you are going through, I lost my dear Poffin last month and it still hurts so much. I miss him. We just have to stay strong and remember everything they taught us, every memory they shared with us.

I am sending you and your family love and hugs. We had to do the same with our dog. It was the hardest thing ever. Pets are part of the family. I am so sorry to see you going through such a hard time.
