I just watched it a couple days ago, just because I was curious what people were saying about it. I found it sooooo boring. Ahsoka wasn't anything like what she was in the clone wars, they tried to make her 'stoic' but she's just so boring now. Obi Wan was a fun, charismatic character even in the A New Hope. Yoda was fun in ESB. Why is she so bland now? Also why did they cast a 45 year old woman in a role that requires so much physicality? So many of the characters just talk in like fortune cookies.

The 3d animated clone wars series did show fun Jedi but only because they weren't behaving like jedi. It's why the high Republic is boring and most fans seem to prefer old Republic before Jedi became boring

I've been interested in Star Wars since watching the original trilogy on VHS. As I aged, I've watched the prequels, watched the clone wars shows (two of them), read some comics, and played the video games that caught my eye. By the time Disney announced it's so called sequel trilogy, I wondered how it will play out. Sadly, they're disappointing to even think about. That, and the latest media Disney dished out is so messy that only a child who doesn't know better would understand. Am I sad at how Star Wars is now? Yes. Am I gonna throw my interest in it away because of that? Hell no. Disney Star Wars is dead, but the Legends and EU Star Wars will live on in our hearts. No matter what, I'm going to keep the memories of the good Star Wars stuff right where my brain and heart is, because those memories are a part of my childhood that I got left.

My core complain after the Acolyte is: it used to be very simple morality: Dark bad, Light good. It’s also fantastic for us to have more mature, morally complex stories, but to squeeze that into SW is stretching in original skin far more than ever intended, and it reframes (and imo devalues) the original movies. The OT and the Acolyte should be in the same genre, not the same story. Greed has devalued both. Of course, it’s fine if you have a different value-system, but does that at least help you “understand all the hate” a bit?

I tried very hard to like the Disney version, but I just kept getting more and more disappointed until I could not reconcile it all anymore. The introduction of a female clone in The Bad Batch show and turning Clone Force 99 into daddy daycare, finally killed my interest in Disney Star Wars. It is honestly sad that Disney has destroyed Star Wars, they have been a company which is canablizing itself for years. They killed their fairytale movies with the new live action movies and they killed the Marvel movies after Inifinty War, I'm not really surprised that this is happening to Star Wars as well because if they don't respect franchises that they created then how would they respect ones that they bought. I thought my feelings about Star Wars and the like was that I'd grown up and they were things that only appealed to my child self, but that is unture. The original movies had some issues but they still hold up even as I've grown, it was Disney who killed Star Wars. They murdered one of the greatest fictional works of the 20th century.

I often hear the saying: There are no new stories. Everything was tried at least once. Judging by my reading experience, I agree. This is why modern writers, the good ones, do not try to create an original story. They, more often, switch genres. Placing, for example, a typical fantasy story into a sci-fi environment. Or go deeper into a matter, exploring the usual tropes from a new Point of View. However, it takes skill and knowledge of existing material. It is not enough to wish to subvert expectations; you need to know what those expectations are and be capable of coming up with an alternative. This is where Andor succeeds. They took the worldbuilding of Star Wars and explored the implications. They dug deeper into the flimsy premise and created a human story everyone could enjoy. This is where Return of the Jedi fails. The movie looks like someone has thrown a bunch of plot points on the whiteboard, stuff they wanted to happen, and never bothered with connecting those and analysing if they make sense, particularly in the SW universe and for human viewership in general. They always avoided asking if the characters act according to their... well, character. Or occupation. This is why we got Luke, who is not Luke, and a Purple-haired Vice Admiral, who is not an admiral at all. This is also why most Star Wars shows and movies for Disney fail. I can agree or disagree with the direction in which they take the Star Wars universe. This is more or less irrelevant. But I expect them to take their freaking job seriously. I want to see an effort put into the creation that exceeds an average amateur writer on Royal Roads. How could it be that I know fanfics with better stories, written with infinitely better understanding? They have budgets for hiring a team of development editors and fact-checkers, which would stay under the catering allowance for their productions. I expect professionalism from people earning per project more than I earn in a lifetime cranking out computer code.

I don’t know. The OT and PT generations grew up more or less the same way: movie theaters, video games, TV, books, comics, and going outside with your friends, VHS. No social media. Now, all interactions are made through a PC: Steam, Twitch streams; you name them. Also, streamers and youtubers are taking the place that belonged to Hollywood stars in the past decades. They know the names of their favourite content creators, but i doubt they know who Harrison Ford is (the younger people i mean) Everything changed. They don’t held cinema in the same regard as past generations. They tend to forget quickly content they saw recently once it is finished. We, Millenials and Genxers, are the last generations that used to held things in high regard for decades.

Anyway just as Disney tossed all the great canon they had to work with, I tossed this stuff and went back to the original canon. I know George never put his blessing on all the books or anything, but they at least have so much more respect for the source material. I’m holding out hope that fans will eventually make fully fleshed out versions of the Thrawn Trilogy, individuals on KZread have already taken a good crack at it.

Rogue One could have gone from a good film to an excellent film with better character progression from a few extra scenes. It also gave us the masterpiece that is Andor. Solo was fun but not great.

@DentEdits I guess I just didn't buy into it? Visually it was good but, especially Vader's hallway scene. I'd often try and watch it before bed but it was just never compelling enough to make it all the way through in one sitting 😅

The moment kylo ren got introduced it was over for me, the originals is where its at the rest is a political shit fest of tantrum child like men and injected female power pushing

Do you think we are your therapist? I don't want to know another man's 'feelings'. Analysis, insights, make connections, deepen our appreciation for a work of art. Most Star Wars whiners have nothing useful to say, and you too the cake. Get useful, or get lost!
