Absolutely insane approach with BABA.

One missing analysis of Alibaba is the risk associated with the current geopolitical environment, which may last for many years to come -The price of Chinese stock will continue to be depressed.

He reminds me of when i entered the casino for the first time, and i asked a gambler standing next to me what should i bet. He said if i just stepped in for the first time, i should leave the casino now and don't get started. I asked him then why is he still here, he said he has already reached the point where he can't help it also. I think Master Leong seems like the investing equivalent of this man.

@frontbattles8090 unless there is a clear, true edge/advantage (real/true positive expectancy, not based on faith, hope, optimism, etc) and proper risk management (ie, kelly criterion, optimal F, etc) the difference between trading, investing, and gambling is mainly the time frame of losing. And master leong's all-in approach to "investing"in baba could very well turn out to be worst because of so-called "long term".

This is a good example of what NOT to do. This guy paid the price so you don't have to....

Best don't look at the market and walk away. Enjoy life. Let the stock market run it's course. When the bull comes one day, which it will, then the share price of Alibaba will reach new high. Most important is never go on leverage.

Leverage can work very well, but margin debt is a bad form of leverage. Warren Buffett figured it out with insurance float. Long-term cheap leverage with no chance of being called upon. That's what you need to roughly look for. A way to maintain leverage over a long period of time with a low borrowing cost and no call provisions. Easier said than done. Some people can do it through lines of credit on their house. You can do it with options you intend to exercise up to 3 years out -- though generally, this is very expensive. I'm sure there are many other creative forms of leverage that meet the above criteria.

I saw Master Leong's video about S-REITs and he mentioned that returns on S-REITs aren't as attractive as other stocks. That might be too optimistic about the sort of returns you can get elsewhere. Honestly, even getting 6-7% consistently isn't that easy for most seasoned investors.

i used to run a dividend portfolio like bank reits telco but i feel the returns too low and i believe that i can make 20-30% via focused value investing but end up i got train wrecked on alibaba haha but a lot of lessons learnt and I am okay to make mistakes so hopefully going forward i can do better kekekeke thanks for watching my reit video ^^

Hold BABA; you'll be just fine in a year or two. The fundamentals on the company are insane. It's clearly undervalued and will come back with enough time.

Hi Chi Keng, it seems that you are making less videos on BABA now, and has lesser allocation to it based on percentage. Is it because you came to realise that the BABA story isnt as great anymore?

I love ML's hyper-aggressive strategy. If you don't take big risks, you will never make big profits. Go ML...

delisting risk is a major concern for sure that's why alibaba will be going for primary listing in hk this year end or next year ali cloud will also be hk listed safer to just hold the hk 9988 as its the same shares as what the mainlanders are holding, no need fear of delisting risk BABA got delisting risk but if your position is not big not a worry

Time to do an update on total losses for you guys

Might wish to diversify across asset classes to grow sustainably. Seems to fall very deeply into sunk cost fallacy. At every timestep t, how your portfolio is structured should never be based on what price you paid. But rather your future expected return at t. Unfortunate..hope he doesn't carry this mentality to the next few decades.

paid 5% in tiger for 2 years already 6.8% on moo for 2 years also long term I am okay paying margin interest if my position can compound at 10% or 20% or higher the asset grow faster than liability but in this case the asset not growing instead decline gg

Not to say you are wrong in believing in china stocks … current china internal economy is not good .. as long as you can hold on long term you will profits . Perhaps getting diversified portfolio like s&p 500 or global stock is much safer than stock picking

The main problem is uncertainty of the politics and the leaders to businesses.

Forget buying single Chinese stocks. Just drip buy KWEB, CWEB and YINN. 60%, 30% and 10% respectively. Own the whole market but in different variations of leverage (different form of leveraged play talked about here). Not 100% of your portfolio, just how you break up your China investment. Invest in US stocks for the majority of your portfolio, 100% in China is wildin, don't do that.

sorry i mistaken i meant 20 years plus ago, i when to USA at age 15 which is about 25 years ago that time 1.8 or 2.0 like that kekekekeke but the thinking is that USD losing value over time and eventually will become 1 to 1 against sgd i feel kekekeke

I bought Baba stock when it was HKD85. I sold it when it was traded at HKD91. Then the stock price went down to HKD83. I bought back Baba stock and still holding now. Hopefully Baba stock will be in an uptrend soon.

Alibaba is still a retailer, 96% of your portfolio in alibaba is nuts! .

Would you do an analysis of it? Ticker simbol IMAB (Nasdaq), its founder is from mainland China

I actually made a lot of money cause I entered the market of chinese tech when alibaba was around $60. I miss the top to sell, but I hugely leveraged and bought at the next lowest dip. I am significantly in the green now. I think I more than doubled my assets in the last 7 months via numerous trades. I am still super bullish and I believe not just BABA but all the time Chinese tech will see significant rise over the next few months.
