    Its' great to see the shop with an online presence, BC shaver has been a fixture it Vic for so long! Good idea for a shootout, thanks for the effort of putting this video together. I have the DB Pro (very similar to the lazernut) and am really impressed with the handling and durability.

    Thanks! I definitely agree with that choice - the Ryft is very capable on the rocks, but it's just too fast for its own good. The Lasernut is a much better all-around vehicle out of the box.

    Great video on both vehicles. The best way I've found to limit the twisting under hard acceleration on the Ryft is to put another set of shockies in the rear. The bolt holes are already there so it's a symbol installation

    Mine is really top heavy and wants to flip if turning even at lower speeds. The “550” size motor seems really skinny and long but maybe it’s just the size of the thing that makes it seem that way. The body is cool but I wish it would lock up. Maybe it does and I just haven’t figured it out yet. My option for what it’s worth. I love the light bars because after work when I usually get time to break it out it’s dark so that’s cool.

    The Rock Rey isn't quite a baby. It's the best of both worlds packed into one. So I bought an Axial Bomber 2.0 last summer but just started driving it couple months ago after slowly upgrading parts on it(Incision links, aluminum rear trailing arms, additional piggyback rear shocks, Currie sway bar and a cool aluminum bead lock wheels) After all that I thing I'm very disappointed in it, it looks cool though but not fast. I think I have to upgrade to brushless for it. I can take it crawling along with my TRX-4 Defender in my channel here but it won't keep up with my Arrma Senton. So my question is...should I keep the Bomber and spend more upgrading it or sell it and get the Lasernut. I like the buggy style and independent suspensions, the Ryft doesn't appeal to me that much it's what the Bomber should have been. Thanks let me know what you think.

  • @bchobbies

    @bchobbies

    3 жыл бұрын

    If you're planning on driving it fast, I would get the Lasernut. I haven't driven a brushless Bomber, but it seems to me like it would drive a lot like the Ryft, since it has live-axle suspension and a relatively high center of gravity. There isn't really any good way to make a live-axle vehicle handle well at speed - that's what independent suspension is for. The Lasernut has a lower center of gravity (and sway bars), is a breeze to drive at high speed, and still has enough articulation to keep up with most crawlers. The braking issue can be fixed by changing the ESC settings. (According to the manual, it's only set to 25% from the factory.) It's up to you, of course, but it sounds like the Lasernut is closer to what you want than a further upgraded Bomber. Just my 2 cents. :)

    @@bchobbies Thanks that helps a lot, good advice from a fellow Vancouver Islander like you(I'm from Nanaimo)...tonight I'm listing my Axial Bomber for sale, looking it it looks cool with my upgrades but I like my TRX-4 for crawling and my Summit is great at crawling too sometimes better than my Defender. Once the Bomber is sold I'll buy the Lasernut and drive with my Senton. Thanks again.

    Both the TT Pro and the Lasernut are based on the same platform, and use most of the same internal parts. Driving performance between them should be very similar. Which one you get will mostly depend on whether you prefer the look of a short course truck or an open-wheel buggy.

    Lol old comment but they drive so so different. The TT is a racer, is very planted great on a track. The Lasernut sits higher and will traction roll and doesn't handle as well as the TT coz it's made for a different application.

    The breaks are incredibly easy to adjust. From factory it has 25% power, one level up you get 50% which is already way more then needed. I actually wish this thing had a 35%-40% ration. In any case, reviewer, do a propper job and RTFM next time, it's on page 3.

    In a way, they are, but there's definitely some overlap. I'd say they're more like two different approaches to the same end goal, a vehicle that's fast but can also crawl. The Lasernut definitely leans more towards the speed end of that spectrum, though, while the Ryft is more optimized for crawling.

    I feel this isn't very accurate as I have seen and rode in the 1-1 lazernut and went to a bouncer race the rift is supposed to go up steep hills with a lot of speed while the lazernut is built to crawl and go fast on the more flat areas if you want to see this stuff in person the lazernut races at the king of the hammers it is a big event with many races and is a good deal of fun

    I'm guessing the R/C Lasernut differs a bit from the real thing because it's based on Losi's existing Tenacity buggy platform. It wouldn't surprise me if it's better at going fast on the rocks (and worse at low-speed crawling) than its full-size counterpart.

    Hmm.. That Ryft must be from a later batch, since nothing seems to have broken, while other people broke the front axle on the slightest provocation.. And the omission of a swaybar makes the Ryft absolutely terrible at anything resembling speed. Booh, Axial! With a rear sway It becomes quite a bit more controllable. Also lowering the stance by placing ca. 1.5cm springs or tubing under the pistons helps immensely ,and doesn't really influence its exellent climbing ability.
