Losi Baja Rey Ford Raptor REVIEW | Performance, Durability, & Best Upgrades? | LVC RC

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I review the 1/10th Losi Baja Rey Ford Raptor after a few months of owning it and discuss my overall thoughts on the vehicle. I also share some advice for both new and future Baja Rey owners. Overall, I feel that the Baja Rey is an excellent vehicle for the money and a very solid option for those looking to purchase an RC desert/trophy truck.

To fix the front diff from blowing or after it blows out (which is fairly common ..the little screws holding the ring gear to the carrier sheer off) get an aluminum carrier from Hot racing or there’s cheap Chinese brands that work also. Takes about 10 minutes to get the front diff out and about 10 screws. About a 45 minute job total to replace the carrier…adding thicker diff oil in the front helps tires from ballooning also.

Awesome review and awesome edit. Love how you explain the Baja Rey is best driven to scale. It’s a beautiful machine to watch/drive in its element.

PRO TIP: i believe only 12 screws are keeping the whole lexan body with the cage to the actual car! meaning you dont have to disassemble everything to get to the main components. ugh i learned it the hard way taking of so many screws to get to the servo or other parts! but only certain screws and you should be able to remove the body. ive beat the crap out of mine and only have replaced the front bumper (broke the same way as in the vid) and got the same rpm one. the servo was working fine but i replaced it and only have had certain parts pop out like the suspension and servo disconnecting, overall very capable truck

What a great review and video overall. so good! i have a baja rey for 3 years now, definitly bumper needs to be changed ASAP, Losi SCT mud flaps easily mount (cage have screw holes for them) and add bit of scale coolnes. I run mine on 2s and it's fast enough. tires holds forever. a very low maintenance rig.

Thanks! Gotta love mud flaps! 🤘😄 I was excited to see that they included a spot to mount them. Great to hear that you're having fun with your Baja Rey. 👏

great review! I totally agree with every comment you had! Mine is currently going under the knife! I actually swapped the wheel and tire package for some 2.2's as Ill be running min in a more u4 style. I did buy lockers for both center and rear, im about to install those, im not sold however on the center being locked, but I figured encountering the rocks it would help. I also swapped out the power train for a Holmes hobbies puller pro 4100kv and a castle mamba x. wow its soooo smooth now but it still wants to get hot! im definitely looking for a trim I have next month to get this rig in the sand with some paddles and do some shredding! great job as always!

Thanks Pablo! 👊 I appreciate it. Happy to hear that you enjoyed watching and are having fun with your Baja Rey. Those lockers should help out a lot on the rocks, especially in the center. The Holmes/CC combos are always a great choice too, bummer that it's still heating up quick. Throwing paddles on it will be crazy! Sounds awesome. 👏

I don't have the 1/10 scale, but if I was to buy a new 1/10 scale, I wouldn't hesitate to buy this truck. I really like all the suspension travel and action. My favorite RC to run hard is my SBR2.0 (just a bigger version) I beat the stuff out of it (not high ramp jumps or anything like that), just like to run fast on 8S on uneven terrain, and the only weak spot that breaks, is the front bumper just like the 1/10 scale. I wish RPM made one for the SBR2.0 I've gone through a few stock bumpers, but have to admit, I've run through the winter in below zero F on ice and snow. The only problem is you have to keep the radio warm or it goes into runsafe mode and stops. I've made some mods like made suspension limiting straps for the rear suspension, rear cage brace re-inforcement (a must do), stainless steel front skid plate and shoe goo/fiberglass taped 1 to 3 layers on the whole body. It has held up well and this truck has taken a beating through several sets of tires, probably a couple hundred battery cycles or more. I've rebuilt the shocks a couple times. Great review!

Really good review and great driving🤙. Couple years back this Baja Rey 1/10 is the truck I first chose to come out of a 20 years🤣. -so awesome. Seriously beat the snot outa this thing for two years, though it is upgraded with gearbox case, 3rd member from SSD, hot racing/Losi shock mounts, carbon fiber top plate, servo, rod ends, suspension straps, gpm axle caps, 16t gear, heatsink. Some of these really are not necessary if you don't do 15+ft jumps and drop offs😂 - I treat it the same as my Mojave! What a thing💥💪❤️

Late to the game but I would recommend a waterproof receiver box or some other mod to stop water/dampness getting into the receiver. I know some people have siliconed their receiver to stop this. Personal experience is damp grass killed my receiver. I actually put a Arrma box into key LBR.

I've got both the Baja 1/10 and the Super Baja 1/6 first version. both have crappy tyres that just blow out after a few times you run it, if just you want to take fun running them roughly. I bought a second set of tyres for the super baja (200 $) and one blew up the first time I run the new set. So, changed the hex into 17mm and bought a set from proline, now it's running fine and rough as before. Yes, the front bumper brake immediately, I had to add a cooler to the motor because it was heating too much, the baloon of the tyres was really bad and I decided to cut off part of the from body of the 1/10 and remove the rear part of the body to avoid the problem (before I decided to change the hex into 17mm as written before). The connector of the battery melted and I had to use a screwer to remove it, with all the risks. I changed the connector twice because of the heat. These cars are really fun to drive but not built strongly enough to support all that power. If you want to use them and avoid spending too much money just lower down the top of the speed in the setup sothat you keep them safer. But then where is all the fun? Well I have a traxxas and it's quite more durable and stronger when I want to drive roughly. By the way, the original tyres have too much grip, the car just looses control if you drive high speed, those tyres are just crap but expensive. Losi doesn't seem my brand, I want to buy from serious factories that respect their customers without the wish to earn a lot from the replacement parts, because they know that each one who buys one of their vehicles will have to buy lots of replacement parts and they're too expensive for the quality. Oh yes, the drive shaft is another issue, but I just stop it here. Thanks for the review.

I hate my Baja Rey Raptor, Tire rubbing in the fender well, not just the outer fender. Tire ballooning like crazy. The AVC makes the truck wobbling at higher speed. I tried belted tires, no ballooning, but they are 3-4mm wider and it's destroying the fenders. There's no parts to adjust the camber to avoid rubbing. Extreme nose diving. I played with the shock oil weight and there's nothing that makes it better. The truck never go straight …. And the list goes on. It's only good at tumbling and scrapping. I regret buying this RC and putting that much money (400$ extra) to make it run right. I ended up buying a Vorteks 3S 4x4 and it's freaking awesome. Avoid this truck guys
