Kyosho MP9 tki4 v2 is a buggy to consider too with adjustable metal turnbuckles instead of fixed plastic ones, aluminum threaded shocks with colored springs instead of plastic shocks that don’t look as good. And only a $30 difference between the two currently

Nice ride, if a bit dated. I voted for the Kyosho Inferno MP9 TKI4, much better spec and with a race pedigree, a solid performer on the track 👍 Thanks for the review.

The community as spoken😊 Great option! Always wanted to 8ight nitro but ended up getting the 8ight-T. Looking forward to this run. You got some great locals to blast this around.

I got one of these a few years ago when they were cheap. Bought the electric conversion kit when I got tired of the nitro. I think there pretty good buggies even on a track.

It actually runs really well on the track. I have taken mine to the Amain track and it was really planted and in turns and really balance in the air. Lap times were close to my X/E 2.0 after some changes and adjustable links and book tires. The engine is a little under-gunned but it kinda helped be consistent turning laps where I had some crashes with my XE/2.0 running a Protek Samurai 3 port .21 cause it's too fast for my skill l level.

Dude please get any 1/8 scale Serpent, you will not regret it! The new truggy is my next Serpent.i have the pro E-buggy, and the 811 Etruggy highly upgraded and modified and the evo nitro buggy. The new truggy is a beast, a few friends have them and they love them and RC Car Addict has a bruggy body mod video if you wanna use the bruggy style, which has been highly successful for my friend's. I also upgraded my 811 te truggy. Thanks for the losi video but should have got the serpent 🐍 lol

I think the original 8ight came out in 2007, there was no previous generation 1/8 scale buggy platform other than the SportWerks vehicles, but those weren’t really for racing. Losi drivers at the time like Adam Drake were using Jammin X1-CR’s or other brand 1/8 vehicles. The RTR you have is based on the 8ight 3.0, and everything starting with the ‘X’ kits have been fully metric.

Nice! The engines in both the truggy and buggy versions are actually pretty decent for RTR engines. The carb is of a "long low speed needle" design so the engine tunes differently than say, your Traxxas.

Driveshafts are thin so they are light. Rotational mass is very important when you start racing.

I have the rtr truggy on my bench now ready to break in the motor, I'm also built the kit 4.0 I saved and decided to build I'm not sure if I'm probably going make one electric . The only I don't like about rtr only is the diffs only have 2 gears and one cross bar instead of 4 , why I'm going use the kit instead of the rtr to be electric . For the nitro power it's fine . Agree about the sae screws . I didn't realize made in Taiwan, they definitely have better quality control , I wonder if it's what you stated or just to keep quality behind the losi brand. Traxxas is made there also .

@@RazorRC when it was released my mount went loose and killed the clutch bell and it was disconnected a year before it was released. They were building them with old stock. The manual wasn’t even correct on the parts. The clutch bell was a couple more teeth then what was listed. I ended up getting around that by using the smaller spur gear from the electric but you have to get the drive cups that go with it or it will not work. So that helps a little but kills the top speed significantly. Also they are only 2 spiders gear diffs so I went through a few of them before I just started using TLR diffs at $75 each. I wasn’t to thrilled about horizon hobby on this one. I called to see if they had any clutch bells laying around because 25 mph just isn’t fast these days lol. They offered to send the wrong size one and couldn’t give me an explanation of why they are selling things they never even had parts for. They did admit that’s what they are doing. Hopefully in the last couple years they made it better but I doubt that with horizon. I eventually just put an electric conversion kit on it with an arrma 6s system.

The market is ruled by bashers and a Nitro vehicle doesn't really fit the bill. However, if anything, I'd say nitro is on the rise especially at tracks, where many have a Nitro class 👍
