The receiver controls everything, and with the corrosion problems you’ve had, changing out the receiver seems like a no brainer at this point. Having a runaway takes all the fun out of it. Looking forward to the final fix.

I thought a runaway adds to the excitement! =) But yes I suspect the receiver being it didn't seem to trigger any failsafes. I have same kill switch as Earl and just played around with it started the engine and pulled the plug of the receiver battery granted it didn't move the servos to my set positions but it did kill the engine. I'm wondering if a servo or something got wet and corroded some connections and is intermittantly shorting out or something and killing the power to the servos which will lock them in last position and possibly the receiver doesn't trip the failsafe cause either it can't or "thinks" its fine. Hopefullly if not already he has found the issue.

I think you're right. Maybe receiver. That would make sense. The failsafe would of cut off if it was a communication or power issue. The receiver must be freaking out over something. I used panty hose for my outerwear on my 5T. cut the feet part off and rubber band them. Sucks she's being difficult. I've heard sending me the basherqueen limitless would improve your day. I know I would greatly appreciate it!!

Earl, that’s scary having a run away! I work in Cummins and a run away is dangerous! It could be the receiver. I’m shocked the technology isn’t better. You’ll figure it out, WOW! Good luck. Keep us posted. That definitely shouldn’t be doing that.

I know your thinking the receiver is the next thing to try and switch, if it happens again with a different receiver maybe it is getting interference from the ignition (mag) , I know my drag car would make TV's go crazy with its high energy ignition box and that was like 100 feet away, and the receiver is close to the mag on this RC .. just a thought I had for what its worth :)

Damn that sucks all that work for nothing! I just bought the dbxl-e 2.0 and have had to basically rebuild almost everything right out of the box. Not a single screw had loc-tight both front cvd’s fell apart on my first run almost lost all my motor mount screws. The spektrum radio and receiver is incredibly glitchy so much so that I just bought the rugged to bind to it and about every other pack comes unbound then I have to rebind and reset up avc. I’ve got it running pretty good now but have an extra 500 into it that wasn’t planned 🤬 Earl I’ll tell ya losi quality isn’t the same as it used to be and I have no faith in the spektrum radios or receiver’s. I guess I’ll be sticking with my trusty 7pxr from now on and probably stay away from losi as well. I wish horizon would get there sh** together!!!!

i had that trouble with a new GT5 transmitter, the receiver kept losing signal anything over 15 ft away ,it would either just stop and nothing would work or it would just run away ,luckily only on a tenth scale electric buggy and on a closed field, but when its on 3s and brushless and is on its own going across a field towards a steel gate it gets the heart rate up , i just changed the receiver and that cured it ..

You need a killer rc -super bee kill switch , the latest version has a 5 second kill on the ignition spark, if the car gets erratic it will automatically shut down, if you have a 3rd channel on your radio use the third channel for your cutoff Butten , when you hit that Butten the super bee kill switch will cut off the ignition for 5 seconds ,this is useful when using any spectrum radio which will try to cancel out your kill switch signal , i had that problem with my spectrum radio until i switched to the super bee kill switch.

  • @earlmoorhead5555

When the receiver fails internally no kill switch can stop the rc at all in the end we found the spectrum receiver failed threw this series that why it would just take off signal was never lost it was failing on the power output to the throttle servo 💯

Some parts are phantom compatible as we’ve all learned. I don’t even use failsafes anymore because vehicles just don’t run away like they used to and second I would just do away with that system , put in new system and be done with it and then if you find out it’s not the receiver and radio problem then you look at the worthless fail safe. Make sure you set the reciever to its failsafe positions for when it goes into failsafe (for now I have mine set turn the steering left and 70% brakes and kill engine I'm suspecting you don't have the failsafe set on your AUX channel) You can confirm its working by just turning the radio off and the light should go out for the kill switch. Also I would confirm the kill switch is actually stopping the engine another youtuber had that switch and it didn't stop the engine and ended up being defective. I'd check the wiring seems weird when you killed the motor that LED should of went out but its still lit. oh and the DBXL v2 has just as many clips! =) tis a pain to open.

My DBXL 2.0 is almost as bad to take the body up. It has 8 clips. It acts like the fail safe on the receiver is kicking in. The battery can drop a couple volts if you are on the throttle and steering at the same time if the battery isn't freshly charged, or getting old, causing the failsafe to kick on. That won't trigger the kill switch, and will lock everything up for a second causing a runaway. I had the same issue with my Rampage. If the fail safe isn't set up correctly, it will just lock. You have to set the channels to what you want them to do when that happens. Like full break, steer full left, and you can set the aux channel to trigger to kill the engine. Depending on the receiver, it is usually done at the bind process, I would guess you have the SR315 or SR215 in there?

ok, I had a chance to watch the fill video and read the comments. I can tell you the situation. From my own research, do not use the HORIZON kill switch, only use the KILLER RC model. Also many people reference a situation with the horizon kill switch and the use of a spectrum with AVC radio system,. You're hitting both of the BAD points here. The logic is that somehow that particular radio system is not compatible with the kill-switch setup, that's why you're getting intermittent issues.

But it did the exact same thing with the stock radio that’s why I’m going threw all this and I am running this older DX5C radio with my 5t with no issue and I made sure not to get a receiver with avc now as I’m changing the receiver & servo now since that all that left to replace 🤷🏻‍♂️ I really want to know what causing this issue? Appreciate the help 💯💯

@@earlmoorhead5555 OK, I see you have done your homework on this issue so far. I highly recommend you try the killer RC kill switch instead of this horizon one. I know it seems unlikely, but in my experiences it's always that issue. BTW the killer RC models come a very loud BUZZER and bright external LED lights, so you always know if you system is on or off.

30lbs gas powered rc has a runaway and the first thing you do is point it straight at your nice BMW🤔either dumb or very smart. That rc can do some real damage when up to speed with that kind of weight, I've been hit with my dbxle2 while not going very fast and I would have much rather been hit with a 1/10 at full send
