I'm a massive hardline fan, but 2 years in a row they have built 2 jumps which have caused accidents (Bernard and Jim) I think they need to bring in big jump specialists such as Sam Reynolds or CDog or others

"Loser vibes" sums the feeling up so well! For me its a mix of imposter syndrome & general anxiety that comes about occassionally, usually after a run of success or good times. Really enjoyed the chat and openness about it (as well as the great MTB chat as always) - hope you're going better now Davi!

Gee Ath. wanted to go ahead with the modified jump in the competition. Red Bull and Bernard among others wanted a safety net for the comp. They were not able to get the safety net in time so they had to take the gap out of the comp.

@@TheRideCompanion certainly not with that first box jump lip:) Did I hear they say 8ft radius in one of the vlogs? If so, that would be suitable for a skatepark box jump. Imagine launching 70ft off a skatepark box... With a modified lip and enough traction/distance to stop before the takeoff if you mess up the run-in, I think they could have kept it in and still avoided any helicopter rides.

My personal opinion is it’s a culmination of getting older, life changes and in a lot of cases the stresses and anxieties that come with running a business. Either way, it’s ok to have them at times and like all ‘vibes’ they come and go… Slide into the DM’s if you ever need to chat homie

Seems like everyone agrees that the canyon gap wasn’t built right. If it could be rebuilt so that anyone could just roll in and send it much like the road gap then that’s different. But after the first test it was clear that without massive modifications it was a death trap. In Rampage the riders build and pick their own lines. Hardline is a race, one course, with no waiting for the right wind or pauses. . Appreciate that armchair 2024 cancel commenters were looking out for rider safety, rather than calling the riders sissies for jumping it.

Couldn't agree more. Of course (some) of the riders wanted to do it. That does not mean it was a good idea. Approaching that jump towards the end of a race with the associated fatigue and a potential for a mechanical was a recipe for a fatality.

They actually already changed the take off from an 8m radius to a 12m radius since the testing. It was ready to go!

Ups and downs - funny how it’s like a switch on and off though

I think for the Lehmann (myself included) the hardline gap didn't look like a career ender or disfigurer if you got it wrong, like the poor chap suffered in Tasmania, rather it looked like a life ender. I read somewhere the real reason it got cancelled was that they couldn't get planning permission for the substantial safety net in time for the race. Not sure I believe that though. Just to clarify; I did not contribute to the hysteria 😮

I have loser vibes every Friday when I realise I haven't done half of the things I should have done in the week as a business owner. It's totally normal if you set high goals for yourself. You are probably a time optimist like me and set yourself unreasonable targets. I think a business advisor will help. I actually took on a business partner to help relieve some pressure and give me direction.

I thought it was awesome and was gutted when they took it out 😂😂 did think it needed a safety net tho , but then I’m a net maker and think everything should be netted 😆

I love hardline but i cant help but think that sooner or later there is going to be a massive crash in the race that will make people question whether its worth the race.

Personally I think comparing the TAS creek gap to the Wales canyon gap is a bit stupid. The consequences for failure are, in my view, vastly more significant with the canyon gap. Not to mention there was literally ZERO options of backing out once you dropped into the run in. At least in TAS you could stop on the run in if you weren’t feeling it…

Loser vibes spring from having a vision (collection of goals) and then comparing yourself to them. You want to climb that mountain, then half way through the year, you feel like you've just left base camp. A biz coach might be a good idea but they'd need a solid framework and lots of experience. Also useful if they rode bikes all their life, worked with other athletes in business and didn't charge like a wounded rhino. Ahem...

That jump was obviously built wrong. We could all see the suspension compression would nail everyone. Two made it , Kerr only just and the third was exactly what you could visualise just looking at it
