I think in order to play this correctly, you would have to shout out " can you smell what the Rocco is cookin" before you tutor for creatures each time.

Look into Niv mizzet parun decks! Very budget friendly with 3-5 combo pieces depending if you want to pick up body of knowledge, Jace, and laboratory maniac on top of the standard curiosity/ophidian eye and tandem lookout! Run a bunch of low cost draw, you'll have a great time. Budget tutors like merchant scroll, dizzy spell, and muddle the mixture are great pickups too.

Find out their preferences through basic combat, try some token generators like Cathars call for ease of use, turn 3 so they learn when to spend(easy to learn within the first 3 turns, dont give em costly cards), it spawns the token at the end of turn so they learn when things can attack, and it's a solid defence method early or late, to block big swingers without trample

@@MrHocotateFreight I totally agree with you. Within my play group we lend our decks to new players and, if they’d like, we guide them through plays/ideas during their turns. Thing is that one of them was convinced that a combo deck MUST be expensive! And I actually built the exact same deck from this video and BRO IT WORKS MIRACLES

I sold my collection awhile back and have considered trying to find a cheap fun commander deck to play. I might look into getting this and then make a few upgrades once in awhile but still keeping it cheap for when I want to play again. Kind of reminds me of my old Selvala deck. Used a bunch of mana dorks, along with all the tutors, fetches, duals, etc, and would kill in a variety of ways like Walking Balista, Overrun powered up creatures, etc.

cant wait to see this become a protean hulk combo lol. imagine only casting a commander once with a bunch of fast mana and win

The cards do indeed cost under $15 but when you add up all the shipping costs because half the cards are all from different sellers making the deck almost $60

Amazing deck. I just built it and playtested it against my son's Runo Stromkirk deck! We had to go best 3 out of 5 and he won 3 with your budget Runo deck! Minor rules detail question for when Devoted Druid's -1/-1 counter untap activated ability triggers Vizier of Remedies. Is Vizier of Remedies' ability a replacement effect, and therefore no -1/-1 counters go on Devoted Druid? Or does the -1/-1 counter go on, then is removed because of the literal "minus one" effect? If it's the former, then we can't get the flood of mana for Valakut Evoker?

Love it! I'm working on a Selvala, Explorer Returned deck and I think a lot of this would work well there too :)

Another great idea with wirewood symbiote is turning it into an elf, then you can return it to your hand, untap a dork that taps for two, then use 1 to recast it, and you're up one mana

While I love your videos I wish you did a numbers breakdown at the end to help us fit the deck into our collection or mod it out. Something like: 15 mana dork, 10 recursion, 10 bounce, 40 land. I get that there are some specific combo pieces, but the rest is interchangeable.

I'm really surprised there weren't any red creatures to give haste. A deck like this would benefit quite a bit from having haste (and maybe some draw power like a Beast Whisperer effect) to really flood the board and dig for answers.

I haven't even watched and I'm already thinking about my Kambal, Consul of Allocation deck. I spent almost no money building it and proceeded to casually grind my pod out the first game I shuffled it up. Then we went again, it turned straight to archenemy with everyone trying to kill me, and I won with a higher life total than the first time. Then Kambal got banned from my playgroup. Task failed successfully.

checked out a shopping wizard from mkm: cards value: 6,83 € shipping costs: 18,60 € so, the shipping is much more expensive than the deck itself xD

Can you guys please start uploading versions of your decklist without the lands? I go to click “Buy this deck” but then it costs a significant amount more in cost and shipping to send thirty lands. I want to use your guys’s links, but I dont want to shell out an extra $10 for mountains that I have 500 of.

Wirewood Symbiote is most of the budget lol. I love budget decks. I miss when the Maralen of the Mornsong combo deck only cost $5 and that was just for the Ad Nauseum. Now those two cards alone equal $30. smh.

You'd have to do a lot of optimizing and single searching to find the cheapest ones. Pretty sure the prices are pre shipping as well, I also remove the lands from the deck as I already have them. Cheapest I found this deck + shipping for was $27.

He's not counting lands probably. Additionally there's other places to shop than TCGplayer. A deck this cheap might also assume some previous ownership of some of the cards, but that's not exactly fair to call it $11 but w/e. Still dirt cheap.

If I make this deck I'm going to put my Esper Sentinel in just for fun.

I'm probably a minority but I will miss these lower pitch-Mitch videos. :) Awesome content anyways but some people prefer some sorts of voices.

Have you ever considered, for future deck techs, perhaps listing the price of the cards below the graphic for each specific card you talk about, so that we can better conceptualize the affordability of the deck? I think having the price of the cards you are showcasing can help players understand the pricing better. Love your videos either way!

Do you follow the deck list link he puts in the description? You can follow that to TCG player and it loads all the cards in the video for you, you can look through the prices afterwards. Don't forget to optimize your cart.

He used to do this in the past, my guess is that because the prices change so much that the prices would not be accurate after a month or so. The video will probably age better without “current” prices listed.
