Como sera q ennlo personal he re descubierto a Babasonicos despues de maratones de Spinetta, Las Pelotas, Los Redondos y Fandermole (la cuarentena para mi es muy provechosa) Estoy mas q feliz xq ahora valoro sobremanera haberlo hecho cronologicamente x disco. Bien eclecticos, distintivos, raros, y lo disfruto, sobre todo cuando distingo la "mano" y el oadrinazgo artistico de Cerati
I saw Los Fabulosos Cadillacs in San Francisco at The Warfield.. I think it was the late 80's. Fantastic band to see live, the whole theater was dancing and sweating to the music and energy of the band playing live on stage.

this song was really an anthem for the young people of that time, despite its rhythm, the lyrics are very eloquent of what happened years before of this song , the rhythm gives hope of freedom and the lyrics convey the truth of a dark time of two countries in latin America

This was a massive hit in México Whe i Was teenager and the song started to sound people just get up and dance. We didn't care about the líryrcs but the name Víctor jara got stuck in my head and i found out about more about him thanks to this song and also was my begining of following forever a Los Fabulosos Cadillcas
Matador is about a revolutionary that is catched and killed by the police, is a part of a trilogy with Manuel Santilla, el Leon and Mal Bicho, another two songs by the Cadillacs. This one the most iconic Latin song in the 90s, it was released in 1993. The video was filmed in 1994. Los Fabulosos Cadillacs also sound great live, that's is amazing because their are a very large band, with many musicians.
You could react this band live on Madison Square Garden, it's a wonderful show, it's like 20 years after this vídeo, and they sound excellent still

During the video we see the funeral march for the revolutionary(el matador) and the people celebrating him and his life, while we see shots of him hiding in is room after the corrupt cops and corrupt government is looking for him to kill him, so he stops exposing them. we see them open the curtains revealing his corpse when he says "this is what I got for fighting for a better world" the song also mentions Victor Jara, a real singer, songwriter and freedom fighter who dissapeeared and was killed(presumably by the government to silence him)

Fabulosos Cadillacs, ésta canción suena super de fiesta y alegre, pero en realidad, es una canción de protesta política super fuerte, a las dictaduras militares latinoamericanas, especialmente las del Cono Sur, por ejemplo, menciona a Víctor Jara, el cantautor chileno asesinado por el General Augusto Pinochet, durante su dictadura en Chile, también menciona al León Santillán. La cana es la policía, que junto al ejército, perseguía a los opositores de las dictaduras y los asesinaban o los desaparecían. De hecho, en una parte del vídeo muestran al criminal de lesa humanidad, General Pinochet. Entonces el "Matador", representa a todas las víctimas de las dictaduras, que querían "matar" las dictaduras, pero terminaron ellos muertos por ellas.
