    Women's basketball is some of the purest basketball you'll ever see. Because they can't rely solely on athleticism like the NBA, they're some of the best all around players you'll see. Pretty much 1-5 can shoot, pass, dribble somewhat, and their IQ to get open shots is extremely underrated. You got elite shooters like Kelsey Plum and Sabrina Ionescu, A'ja with her elite footwork at her size, and Breanna Stewart's straight up bucket getting ability. The WNBA is lit!!!

    Settle down. It was a struggle for me at first watching the WNBA. But I will say Stewart is the best player I've watched so far. A great 2'way player. Can shoot the 3, hit the mid range jumper, take it to the rim and plays great aggressive defense. Her stat line in today's game was impressive.

  • @MrArrow54

    @MrArrow54

    13 күн бұрын

    Your joking the defense is nearly nonexistent and the tactics like picks and rolls are barely there. You don't see many charges being drawn or stiff offensive picks that take people out. I saw plenty of possessions with no one guarding the perimeter. Most teams do run and gun probably cause there's no defense to stop them. But this results in every team having nearly identical play styles. And the lack of athleticism is worse then i had expected. Everything happens so far below the rim even layups and jump shots are more hops then actual jumps. Probably because of the lack of height you don't see many fades or circus shots. There's also less coordination between players its a lot of iso ball if its not a quick shot/layup. Lacks the coordination seen in the nba.

  • @MrArrow54

    @MrArrow54

    13 күн бұрын

    I should add that they have great ball handling skills and are very good shooters so its not all negative.

  • @who.is.kswervo

    @@MrArrow54 If we're being real, the defense in the NBA is pretty non existent as well. Teams average 120-130 points per game so there's that. And the WNBA is a completely different game than the NBA BECAUSE of the difference in size, which in turn decreases the level of athleticism. Idk if you're expecting some woman to go out there and windmill on a fast break, but sorry to let you know that's just not gonna happen. And the average size of a woman in the W is between what 5'7-6'5, anything above 6'5 is an outlier. In the NBA 6'4-6'7 you're a 1 or 2 guard, so we're talking apples and oranges when it comes to the difference in size and athleticism in the two leagues. And that affects everything from spacing, how they run fast breaks, layups, defense, literally everything. Which was my original point, players in the WNBA are more sound fundamentally in my opinion, they have to be more efficient in how they score because they're not gonna outrun you, or jump outta the gym like players in the NBA. There are sooo many players who are on an NBA roster that can jump out of the gym, but can't make a free throw, like make that make sense lol.

  • @MrArrow54

    @MrArrow54

    13 күн бұрын

    @@who.is.kswervo True they have way better fundamentals on average but they lack the excitement from having specialists. You mentioned the guys who can jump but can't shoot that's because you need high-flyers to play at the rim. To dunk, block or get touches on shots to redirect them. They aren't the best at the basics but their athleticism is required to defend certain plays and it excites the crowds which is the point of entertaining sports. Having a team of players with different specialties is more fun to watch then a team full of generalists who can do it all well. The wnba is pretty much position-less outside the pg and the center and even those seem pretty flexible. It's probably the height thing you mentioned but it just seems like a squad of guards with one big.

    Kate Martin must have earned the coach's trust as she had her in there for a large portion of the game and in crunch time. These are quality minutes which will pay off later in the season. She played well and I hope that with confidence she starts looking for her shot as well as dishing the ball. She is a great story. I like Brink too. I am sure that she will admit that she didn't play her best. I thought there were many times down low that they should have gotten the ball to her.

The Aces felt her presence, in fact the Aces didn't get their first points in the paint until late in the first quarter. When Brink learn to play defense better with her feet, she'll easily be DPOY in the future. But boy is A' ja a load to deal with and Young playing the way she did, the Aces are a tough out. Oh and shout out to Hamby too, I see you.

    Dearica Hamby has an opportunity to truly shine on the Sparks. She is playing at a high level and the best player currently on that team. So far she is playing like a candidate for MVP, MIP & DPOY with 24.5 PTS / 11.5 RBS / 2 AST / 2.5 STL / 61.3 FG%! With that being said let’s go Aces!

    Sooo excited to see KATE MARTIN play an ample amount of time! Her example was exemplary in how someone can hustle from start to finish and remain at tough defense the whole time. Sometimes we need to deflect and not always look at the superstars in the limelight but look at those very HUNGRY athletes like Kate that cherishes each moment allotted on the court and proves to be a force to reckon with! I have great respect for their coach because she has the “it” factor that sees way ahead of time and knows how to develop athletes and most importantly fosters a sense of CONFIDENCE in the entire team players. Where Kate may have looked at herself as “just a support” I hope when given more chance to play that she will know she too can shoot the ball when open near the paint! “Never second class” seems to be how Becky allows all teammates to feel. They are all worth their salt and may the recent sponsorship prove to each of them that those coming off the bench will play with fire in their bones…and great confidence. Kudos KATE MARTIN, I so saw and appreciated your intensity and was glad you had the playing time you did. Coach Becky has a great backup so she can rest other players in view of the rigors of the schedule at hand. Love you all but just happy to see the rookies shine in the spotlight.❤❤

    Notes from the sparks Rough game offensively for brink, but she was still herself defensively, and against wilson, that says alot. Rickea had her coming out game tonight, she isnt gonna let CC, AR, and Brink hog all the rookie spotlights, save some for her lol. If Hamby keeps playing like this? yea all star and all wnba selections incoming. Notes for the aces I mean... what can you say. They got first stint lebron out there in Wilson. Too strong, too big, too tall, too fast, too agile. The perfect wnba body matched with extreme skill. Except instead of having the lame supporting cast lebron had she got 3 all wnba players with her. They're just unfair lmao. At this point, CC, Brink and AR gonna have to team up to beat them smh. Also great showing from Kate Martin. As she is now, she's a great rotational role player, 8-10th woman in the lineup who will do the little things to keep the game moving in the right direction. Her ceiling could be 6th woman of the year which is so crazy considering no one really expected her to get drafted.

    Something is off with the Aces. I don’t know what it is, but there’s something off. There’s no ball movement and a lot of players are going iso. Last year when the aces went up by 20, they’d win by 20 or more. Now they can’t hold a lead anymore and the perimeter defense has been atrocious. Just not something I saw last year. What’s really going on here?
