Not a trained expert by any means but living with one until I was 18 was where my main education came from...and was in therapy for it off and on over the years.

@@ruthdevisser6632in a legal sense when you’re pleading “not guilty bc of mental insanity,” yes. But plenty of mentally ill people know what they’re doing. Mental illness doesn’t only look like being helpless, delusional and in a straitjacket.

I have a sister who is kind of like Lori. My sister didn't kill anyone that I know of, but what is noticeable is that she is never wrong, never apologizes but expects others to bow and scrape before her. My reaction now is to cut off all communications with her. I pray for her but I do not allow her to abuse me any longer.

Unfortunately, we can’t pick our sisters! We are stuck with them. If they are toxic then let go and find your own way. You will never be happy trying to make it work. It shouldn’t be painful to have a loving relationship with a sibling. That should be obvious. Take care of yourself!

I think it’s so remarkable how Lori’s, Chads and Charles families have united during this horrific situation. They have all been through hell and have still stepped up and supported each other. It must’ve been really hard to do that.

I feel like Lori's statement at the trial was her last podcast. She took the platform and preformed one last time. No remorse, acting above and superior of us all.

Rex, those of us who have followed this tragedy from the beginning and have listened to interviews of family members and podcasts genuinely wish restoration and healing for all the family to the greatest extent possible. We understand that Lori is beyond hope for those purposes, but the rest can still improve relations with one another. Best wishes

I’m glad he said mental Illness isn’t an excuse. Personality disorder is not a mental illness as well. She’s trying to play crazy and she tried it up to the very end. Talk to the inmates who have come across her, they’ll tell you she doesn’t have a disconnect with reality. I don’t believe she ever did. I believe like the judge said, that she used the bizarre religious stuff to justify her actions.

What blow's my mind is she actually believes after everything thats happened, after everything thats been exposed, what she has to say holds value. She still think's she can manipulate and dupe people. That's how big her ego is. Lori's narcissism and ego still push her to try and convince people she is spiritually superior. I believe she actually thinks people are falling for her lies like they did before. Mind blowing!

& only bc you asked, and I'm not at all defending her (As if!) But implying they may have died other ways besides being murdered has nothing to do with what happened to the bodies after the fact. Just like the girl that threw her baby in the hospital trash. Whether the baby was stillborn or born alive & she murdered it, no one's denying she put it in the trash. Death/Murder and disposal of a body are 2 different things.

The family thinking that 'hurting Joseph Ryan' was acceptable is disgusting. At what point does the law not mean anything? This Cox family is shocking, and they had many years to protect everyone around Lori, it did not start with Chad. Yes it's disgusting and to think she would have said anything less cruel to her victims families, is not at all a surprise. The judge needed to hear it.

@@politicallyincorrect5802None, the Court appointed a psychologist to interact with Tylee, the psychologist conclusion was that Tylee was being coached by her mom which really mad Lori furious. I truly believe Lori was always a bad mom to those poor kids unlike what the family are saying. Charles own sons’ told their mom that Lori was giving the kids a green substance at nights that knocked them out - does that sound like the perfect mom? Well not to me but I suppose some people especially family members want to believe that Lori was a good mom but I don’t believe Charles exwife thought that on the stories her boys told her.

I agree. She should’ve got the death penalty as she as a mother killed her own babies.

There has been speculation that their relationship was perhaps more than it should have been, ie inappropriate. That's the hold she had over him. But it's only speculation. No family members have spoken about that as far as I know.

I was enraged when I heard her bring religion into it and saying all the reasons they could have died then justifying their death saying how hard their life was was so disgusting I hope she gets prison justice

I have so much respect for these families and the dignity and goodness they keep up in the face of the evil they have encountered through Lori and Chad. Colby' s claims of s.a. were proven impossible and Tylee never claim s a. I was so sad and angry for what Lori was allowed to put out to the world, people will hear without the reality/ truth to it.

I agree with other posts. She is a full-blown narcissist, not delusional at all. Narcissist never admit they are wrong , can be covert because they socially need everyone to get on board with their campaign whatever it is. She was always a narcissist. Narcissists go to great lengths to get their way, whatever that may be. You see this with spouses who kill their partners because they are leaving. She is not only a narcissist she is malignant, meaning once Charles died, she needed to feed off someone, and Chad was a malignant narcissist too. It's really no surprise that she killed everyone for money because Chad was trying to feed off her, like he had done for years with Tammi. Two malignant narcissists who left their feeding grounds and needed food sources to do that. Predators, really.

Personality Disorders, which both Lori and Alex had, develop in childhood. Something is very off with their parents and their upbringing.

Narcissists are masterful at playing the victim and savior at the same time. Lori isn’t mentally ill. She took measured steps to methodically isolate Tylee and JJ - to use them as pawns to achieve her plans of biblical domination. For Summer to tarnish Joe in her statement was irresponsible. Lori manipulated every situation involving her wants and needs especially to control the narrative that she’s the ultimate victim. How do we know that these bouts of pancreatitis weren’t brought on by Lori? How better to fulfill your God complex than a sick victimized child? I think it makes everyone feel better to attach mental illness to these murders, easier to understand if we frame it in such context. But this isn’t that. In fact labeling evil as an illness is an attempt to make sense of it all. But there’s nothing that’s going to make it make sense. Lori killed everyone in her way then wrapped it in the guise of religion. Until everyone stops calling these violent acts mental illness - Lori gets a pass for committing murder. Stop. It’s a disservice to everyone especially Tylee, JJ, Tammy and Charles. Give them peace.

When my BIL and nephew were murdered, the killers mother publicly apologized to our entire family. She didn't have to do it, but she was so devastated by the fact that her son could have committed such a horrendous act, she felt it was her place! It showed us her true contempt for his act! I am yet to hear this from the Coxes! It's not their place, but it would go a long way in healing for so many people. Instead they write books and start podcasts.

I mean I do too don't get me wrong but she was litterally suppose to be committed, Arizona cops failed them, Charlie's reached out to everyone in her family, they ignored him, (exception to her uncle and one of her brothers they did try to intervene), he dies admittedly at the hands of Alex, no one on her side asks questions, she lied about how he died, to many people, got caught in those lies by some of them and again no one on her side asked questions. Their were so many red flags, they heard the nonsense she was spewing no one did anything, Chad's sister inlaw went to the church to tell them what was happening in the group they had and they did nothing, so many many people in her family over looked red flags, intentionally ignored them. I feel for them and not to victim blame, but damn this could have went different if anyone took it seriously

How do the family feel towards melanie p now? Knowing she was into all this and that she had pretty much agreed to kill at least one of her own kids from text messages between her and Lori....???!! Or have they brushed that under the carpet as well until she does something horrific at some point?!?

He said, “she’s consciously aware of right & wrong”. She absolutely is! The judge said during his sentencing how well Lori has behaved in prison never having caused any problem or had any disciplinary problems. If she can follow the rules in jail she can follow the law & know MURDERING her CHILDREN is UNACCEPTABLE!!

I think all of America was disgusted by her statement. I can only imagine how her victims felt. It was one shockingly disgusting sentence after another. From her quoting Scripture to calling Tammy her friend. Lori thought she would get the last word, but thankfully Judge Boyce had the last word.

Although Summer is greatly affected by the actions of Lori, there is something about her dismissiveness, an odd haughtiness and a constant throwing shade at others who cannot defend themselves. Lori, Mel P, Janice and Summer have this odd way of expressing themselves that I find most disingenuous and haughty. You can fool some of the people some of the time but you can NOT fool all of the people all of the time. When the finger pointing stops, blaming others stops, then a true healing and new peace will result. You can’t put smoke back into a cigarette….it is futile. Lori opened Pandora’s box.

Rex is absolutely right, Lori will continue to stick to her belief system, that’s why she keeps smiling and saying the things she does. I’m a member of the LDS faith living in Germany and I have been following the trial and of course the sentencing this week. How anyone can distort the faith so much, especially while going to the temple, is pure evil! My heart breaks for these two beautiful children, for Tammy and for Charles. I’m sure there is more to come in the Arizona trials, until everything is said and done there will be no closure.

She was definitely on a path to become a cult leader. Her statement to the court about the wild ideas concerning religion, the spirt world, and talking to her dead children's spirits are a glimpse into that.

A logical stepping stone when you WILLINGLY embrace spiritual deception.

I didn't feel anything for her because I don't take her seriously at all. I place as much value of what she says as I do the dust on the floor. I am elated that she is being held accountable. A life sentence has to be worse than the death penalty. Plus her peers are going to want to kill her.

Remember a Narcissist knows exactly what they are doing it’s a choice they make. She was obsessed with the greed she thought she had a million dollars coming too her after Charles died. When that failed she moved on to collect from her children.

Well yeah Rex is the uncle,,,,,,and I’m not impressed. Wants to “help” others heal. What a pathetic joke. This whole tribe should be institutionalized in a Tibetan monestary. This podcast turned me off just as Lori’s 2 bits worth of demonic little girl voice did. Big mistake Justin. Poor Kay, asking us to pray for the dead yesterday. I tell you this religion is NOT from God.

It’s interesting that the loved ones statements had to be accurate. But Lori statement could be whatever craziness she wanted to say. No rejection by the court on her statement.
