BESTIE! Box dye is NOT meant for hair like yours, that has been bleached repeatedly. Your mid lengths and ends were super porous and had no pigment, so the ash in the dye showed up gray. Closer to your root the hair had been bleached less and at the root it was your natural color so it came out more golden. Typically box dyes at a level 9 are only supposed to be used on level 8 or higher VIRGIN hair. I’m not yelling at you. You are a good person. Just stick to bleach and t18, queen! ❤❤❤❤

⁠@@Vikki089t18 is meant for level 10 hair or higher. It is to fix yellow tones. If you’re a level 9 it may work but a level 8 is Orangey yellow brassy tones… t 18 is not going to work, it will more than likely do nothing Tons of people use it and sometimes it works somehow someway but it is made for level 10 and higher

Violet corrects gold tone .ash is blue it corrects orange, tones. Then you have to look at the level of your natural colour and the existing colour tone to get your hair how you want it.

L'oreal Paris has been my go to all of my life 😂 back in the day when I would dye my hair black blue I used the L'oreal Paris one. Then when I went bleached blonde, which was obviously a professional service process, although it wasn't too horrific as I had my long black hair all cut off in one go and my colourist bleached me and his salon products at the time were L'oreal Professional. Then I relocated for work, so my colourist taught me how to do my colour myself so that I could do that whilst I lived a hectic professional life and I initially went for Blondies by L'oreal that I'd get from a hair supplies stockist and that was a special trip to get to them, and my colourist told me that back in those days the L'oreal Super Blonde Bleach was basically the same product as Blondies, so I''d just buy that and I've stayed with it ever since and that's coming up 27 years! I'm still friends with my original colourist, although he doesn't do hair now, he went into finance, property and investing. Sorry for the epic tale lol 🤣

I think the reason it turns dark, is because it's reacting to all the other products that are still in your hair.

Actually I think the ends were a pretty silver... Ash blondes are great for women going gray and looking for a good transition color when the roots grow back. Revlon color silk has these new bright pastel colors. The blue is definitely a baby blue. ❤

I stopped using box dye some time back and use professional bleach/developer/pigment. Never looked back.

I use that brand, but a different shade of blonde, thankfully I’ve not had that happen, I’m sorry it didn’t turn out the way you wanted. I would love to see it dry though. Love ya Bestie❤

I know you said it won’t look different dry but I actually like it on you Bestie! I don't know...I think the color looks pretty good! It's very ash and has a way more cooler tone than what's on the box. I wish you had shown us what it looked like completely dry. I'm getting tired of bleaching my hair and the work involved and may try this shade.

I've only used 12n clairol on bleached hair I usually use a toner

Heyy girly!! I agree the elf concealer is really good I love how big the applicator is. Only thing I'll say is it separates at the bottom sometime. Heat it for a few seconds real quick with a hair dryer! Also, I only say this because I care about you, and your hair. Be careful bleaching those short parts, if you split your hair down to the root, sometimes it doesn't go back. I have met a few clients that have done this. Finally if you ever want to try black, try manic panic. I was scared to commit, so I put conditioner in mine, and made it dark grey. I loved it. Also try some pink shampoos girl. You might love the pearlescent blonde. I know I do! 💜

I always use ash blondes box dyes and they leave my hair so dark almost brown but after washing out alot with baking soda and shampoo. It goes away and leave my hair so pretty and ashy. ☺

Love your personality! You had me cracking up! I'm pretty sure that box dye doesn't work on previously colored hair. Color doesn't lift color. I watch Hair Budah and he says that repeatedly. I think it only works on virgin hair. I could be wrong though.

Have you ever tried iced coffee? There are so many variations with different flavors, maybe there's one for you? About that box dye: L'Oreal has very strong and potent pigments. Their colors usually work pretty well when you freshly bleached your roots and they didn't lift as light and pale as you wanted them to and you need a bit more lift and also toning. These colors are high-lift, meaning they actually can do that (but are also more damaging than many others). When you put them on hair that is already as pale and blonde as yours the pigment will basically overly tone that and make it look grey, green or purple (depending on the color of the added pigments). A regular toner isn't as potent as those colors and also not as damaging. Good to know: these visible pigments also fade pretty quickly. Funny though: The numbers on the boxes are different in Germany. The same color has 9.1 (level 9, which is extra light blonde, with an ash tone). And no, one box is never enough. I have an actual pixie cut which is very short and it's usually barely enough to cover my roots. Even though I have low-medium density and rather fine hair. (Not the thinnest, not the finest, but definitely nowhere near your level of density.) And those colors are very runny, imagine they were a thicker, creamy consistency. Spreading it throughout your hair would be even harder. If you think about it, the amount you need to properly cover your hair doesn't make the box dye so cheap anymore, right? I actually feel like professional products can actually be cheaper on the long run, but I dunno the prices range where you're at...

@LawnBunny777 Well, I'm a natural blonde. I wouldn't say i have dark hair. With age, it has definitely gotten darker, though. I'd say my natural is probably a level 8. This product is NO GOOD! Unless u wany orange hair 😂

box dye never has been a favorite, but i think a few things going on, especially for box dye maybe a filler first, like a light gold filler for something for the dye to grab onto, without an underlying tone and for porosity it will just grab the icky colors, with that said not really sure if would make a difference but as you say I would never try box dye again lol well you took one for the team

I purchased a L’Oréal Paris Féria black hair dye and every time I was my hair wash my hair the shampoo bubbles are foaming black. Permanent color my ass. Permanent color isn’t supposed to wash out. I’ll never use their brand again!

Box colors never match the swatch on the box. I always pick a darker shade because that’s the look I like. , I’ve never liked loreal hair color especially the blonde toned ones. My go to is revlon if I use box color.

Professional colors aren’t that pricey, a tube usually lasts me at least 3 sessions of coloring my hair and I have very long hair, so for under $20-25 you get three coloring sessions! And it’s so just h better for your hair :) some brands I use are Kenra, guy tang has an amazing lightener, chi, joico, really almost anything on Brighton beauty online :)

Yeahhhh L'Oreal sucks. I bought a natural black dye and it didn't do anything but lightened my natural blonde roots and pulled color from the rest of my hair which I had just a semi permanent black (shade by Strawberry Leopard) that faded to a beautiful dark blue.

Your hair should be clean no product in it and dry before application. If you have had your hair colored at a salon prior the stress may not be compatible as well. I use it all the time with no issues at all. Love loreal products. Sorry you had bad luck with it.
