Kairasu Yeah, but this is Metal Gear SOLID lore in a minute. Which would be possible if they had someone who actually thoroughly knew Metal Gear lore (Dodger was really not a good choice to write this, nothing against her) and also got someone who could talk really fast to narrate it (Caddicarus or Yahtzee for example) then this would have been at least serviceable. Oh and add to that it was released before Peace Walker and thus missing out the Boss' past among other important details. Metal Gear Solid lore in a minute would be impossible. I think even just having the key events in shorthand bulletpoints would amount to the length of a speedrun of one of the games

You forgot the Patriots, Les Enfants Terribles, the Big shell/Out Heaven, and guns of the Patriots events.

Let’s be fair here, the entire Metal Gear lore is... super duper dense and complicated with so many twists and turns. Honestly, I also have a hard time wrapping my head around the lore myself, considering the amount of things to talk about and how each thing connects with some other character/piece of lore

this is plot, not lore, and mgs has massive amounts of lore as noticeable by downloading the mgs database from the psn, also, the shagohod wasn't the prototype of the metal gear, the shagohod was a completely different thing(this shown wby that cutscene with the drunken russian guy talking about how awesome the metal gear is and how fucked up he is now that they haven't choose that to make a pprototype of.

Phantom Pain had more lore than this video.

MGSV The Phantom (game) Pain was supposed to be MUCH MUCH MUCH more because we would have had 5 frggin chapters and you were supposed to use battle gear in free roam but (ahem) KONAMI FREAKING MAKES KOJIMA RUSH THE GAME AND CUT EVERYTHING AND THEN HE GETS FIRED AND THEN...... *the game’s cut content is now all but just a phantom pain*

I'm totally fucking confused! So Snake is Snake but was killed by Snake? Maybe Kojima just invented that all to tell a story about a guy with shizophrenia sitting in a lonely cell thinking he is 30 characters at the same time? I don't wanna insult anyone, but how is someone to engage into this series where it takes a grade in rocket science (and probably theatrical drama) just to understand the basic occuring characters? Game of Thrones is like an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie compaired to MGS in terms of plot twists.

Snake is just a code name, they are not the same person. The origin of the code name snake is explained in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. They all have real names. The series has spanned out for well over 2 decades. There is an explanation for everything but you have to start from the first game and work your way up, just like any story. If you jump into any of the series in the middle your going to be more confused than someone who started from the beginning.

@@jeambeam3173 No thats what the SECOND mission is, the first mission is to rescue the scientist, and then The Boss defects, the plan was just for her to steal the legacy. Would've been fine to leave it at that if Volgin didn't use the nuke, but because he used that they had to create a whole new plan, which was to kill the boss and get the data.

The reason why Big Boss was angry with Cypher was because during a mission in 1970, he was knocked into a coma and Dr. Clark created three test clones as a means to help enact their interpretation of the Boss' will. Seeing that it was a violation of his rights, he created Outer Heaven as a way to combat this loss of personal liberty - a place where mercenaries can be. He then reclaimed control of a group he created in 1970 with comrade Roy Campbell, FOXHOUND, and used them to codify Outer Heaven

MGS3: Snake Eater (Story about the Naked Snake becoming "Big Boss") 2. MGS: Peace Walker 3. MGS: Ground Zeroes 4. MGSV: Phantom Pain 5. portable ops is considered canon by Kojima but not Konami. It contains some very important info, but also contradicts other things in the series.

Thanks, I haven't played MGS in ages so I forgot this full lore, I just remembered that they were essentially clones of Big Boss.

I can pretty much guess exactly when that epic Ding! Comes after watching three videos, and it is still lol.

I don't care what people say, this was a pretty damn serviceable attempt to bring people up to speed with events prior to MGS 1. Yes, you don't get the detail, but it covers (roughly) the events of MGS3, the first two MG games and the gist of the main protagonist's background. Were people expecting an essay? :p
