Weary, hopeless, and disease ridden travelers from far and wide undertake the long journey to the forgotten city of Yharnam searching for the great universal medical cure that will heal their illnesses.
The ancient city is a center of medical knowledge once run by the Healing Church. Long ago, a place now called Old Yharnam was cursed with an endemic illness known as the plague of beasts. The afflicted mutated into bloodthirsty monsters and as the plague spread, the deranged townspeople began to hunt these creatures for they, too, have been unknowingly afflicted with the feverish desire to kill beasts and outsiders alike. In response, the Healing Church blocked off all entrances to the Cathedral Ward and burned Old Yharnam to the ground.
Naturally, you find it necessary to enter Yharnam and unravel its mystery. Upon arrival, you find Iosefka's Clinic and undergo a blood transfusion, becoming infected with Yharnam blood that makes you both more than human and human no more. Now unable to distinguish between reality and nightmare, you take up your weapons as a Hunter to discover the secrets of Yharnam and the Healing Church while dealing with crazed mobs and savage beasts.
