The original maintains that era’s obsession with the darkest subject manner shined up with a coat of bubblegum pop. I find it a bit more disconcerting. This cover has the music fit the lyrics which has its own merits, but it can seem too heavy handed.

In the upbeat version, I can interpret it as being hypnotized by the rules and stuff, as if you're trapped by them and no matter how much wrong it can be, for your brainwashed mind it is upbeating and echoing as if everything is fine and ever will be, which makes the original version pretty haunting if you think about it This cover version is likely when you're free and awake from the trap and then being able to see the subject the way it really is, with no jokes or happy sounds

This song explains so much about the movie Catching fire and even the movie wouldn't exist I'll still love it! omg just omg.

I love that the original version of this song sounds like an epic trailer edit.

Didn't even know she did a cover of this song. I saw Tears for Fears live about a month ago and they opened the show by playing part of this song and then led it into their original version. Great way to open an awesome show!
