Wonderful. There's no one like the marvelous Ian Carmichael.

His only regret in playing the role was that he never got to play the part in any of the stories with Harriet Vane. He narrates the audio books and he is wonderful, especially in "Busman's Honeymoon." In addition to embodying the role, he was also a big fan.

Thank you, Ian Carmichael, for your wonderful work as Lord Peter. You always seemed to play the role with Sayers' own description of Whimsey's conscience in mind: "My hobby is getting men hanged".

I can`t believe those many views and yet only 290 Thumb Ups. I guess nowadays, even clicking a little "Thank you" button is asking too much.

@Le Chat I generally don't click "like" because I'm not sure how it will affect the way KZread displays videos on my Home page. I wish there was a better search engine on this site so I could filter better. I feel like I'm prisoner of algorithms. I've even had videos on topics related to words in emails from my friends.

I had a hard time following this series at times. In the first episode there were 2 party scenes where I couldn't hear the dialog due to background voices. Halfway through the 3rd episode it finally got interesting for me.

Unless you sign in and let KZread know who you are, you cannot hit the thumbs up or leave a comment. You have to be signed in. Many people don’t want to be tracked by KZread and Google, so they watch without signing in and therefore cannot leave a thumbs up. That could very well be why there are so many views compared to likes.

Ok, these characters are cold-blooded, turning a blind eye and sanctioning suicide or murder of the guilty party! Co- worker dead, no probs, there's cake in the break room, husband gets beat up in the stairwell, oh well, silly ducky, I have children to put to bed 😂 loved the series though, early. 70s Brit dramas are the best. Thanks for posting.

@@lauragranger9813 Remake them? You mean a new series with new actors? That would be great! Now, who would be the best person to play Peter Wimsey? Somebody young (or at any rate a great deal younger than Ian Carmichael) and aristocratic looking. And silly, but in an intelligent and unaffected way.

It is a much cleaner solution ... because a trial would "taint" a lot of people who werent involved, like the wife and child in this case or the niece in the Bellona Club. Sadly too many people dont care about that kind of "damage avoidance" anymore nowadays ... because they themselves would never "do the decent thing", even if they were guilty of the most horrible thing. There are LOADS of people nowadays who are actively ruining the lives of their own children ... or - as a Police Officer - do NOT do their duty to prevent crimes committed against children; many of them SHOULD consider this solution ... but they dont because they are too selfish and have no moral compass anymore.

@@Muck006 While suicide is the "manly" solution, it is ultimately inadequate to jurisprudence which determines who, how, when, why the crime was done--all for the public record; suicide just shows how rich people escape justice.

+1 Did you know that on February the 21st 2009 Dorothy L. Sayers's Murder must advertise got listed on the Guardian's List of 1000 Books must read? Also Who's Body got entered in that List the same Day. * Your Uploads on this Channel made me order all Novells of Dorothy L. Sayers. I must read them. I also will contact Netflix. They have made a Lot of Success with Lupin a Series based on Maurice Leblsnc's Ariane Lupin Novells. I will ask them if they are interessieren to make a Lord Peter Wimsey Series and let the Novells play today, somehow. As Netflix might be interessted to make at Least two Seasons they might need Autors that write new Lord Peter Wimsey Stories after they released all existing Novells. I would like to write Scripts with new Lord Peter Wimsey Stories for that. What is your Opinion on my Idea? Maybe I will need a Lot of People to support my Idea by writing Tweets to Netflix UK and Netflix Germany, massively.
