Whether people turn to other sources for light, like religion or self help books, LOTR is a common ground for all. If any individual, regardless of background, truly wants what is right taught to them in the power of cinema it is taught in this beautifully crafted and in my opinion, perfect film trilogy.

@@yasha886 Galadriel never trusted Sauron. In fact, when he first began to put his plan into motion in Eregion, she was one of the first to voice her suspicions about him. He too knew that she would be his chief obstacle, and that he would have to be careful not to incur her wrath if he wanted his plan to go as intended. Being presumably the oldest and wisest Elf left in Middle Earth at that point, Sauron feared her most of all. She is always written as having one of the strongest gifts of insight of any of the Elves, as far back as when she lived in Aman, she could see through the deceits of Morgoth whereas her kin fell under his sway. She also never trusted Fëanor, and only followed him into Middle Earth because of her desire to rule a realm of her own. She did not care about his motives, and hated him all the more for leading the fight against the Teleri, her mother's people. She never _asked_ Sauron for one of the rings, it was entrusted to her by Celebrimbor for safe keeping due to her power and significance. When Sauron put the One Ring on, she was presumably the first to sense his presence and remove her ring. In the chapter "The Mirror of Galadriel", she states that even without him wearing or even possessing the ring, she can perceive the mind of Sauron, and knows that he sees her as one of his chief adversaries. She goes on to say that he tries to perceive her mind from afar as well, but that "the door is closed." She didn't survive for this long (when all her kin perished) by being a reckless person and trusting in those that she shouldn't, she is far too wise.

@@yasha886 she was the main one who always saw through him and kept an eye on him and could read the maiar’s mind without him ever knowing and he could never read hers. Not to mention she could read his mind while he attempted to read hers without him knowing at all. And her banishing hun from dom goldur in the books and how they filmed it in the hobbit gives off Beren and Lùthien vibes. Rescuing Gandalf in the same manner and the banishment was a full circle to what Sauron did to her brother Finrod Felagund and banishing the necromancer literally was a nice full circle of poetically repeating the story a little bit whilst getting revenge etc! Men of the west and nerd if the rings gave a full history as well as other channels that go deeper. A living testament to the elder days and her wisdom and power grew through the ages and this is why her and those who dwell in her company have become enlightened and they no longer continue the infighting that happened alot between different clans of elves, some of them even survived through a few a few ages thenselves and some are almost as old as she is. So they’ve changed and they regret a lot and the thing is though: even the long lament song of beren and luthien isn’t even the full song. It’s almost become taboo and also out of respect to not tell the whole story as it stays within the memory of the Eldar. Perhaps the story lived in through the company of Prince Imrahil along with Aragorn and his son and daughters. Lives on through Eledan and Elrohir for sure. There is much anguish in the past of the elves. Crazy stuff happened nonstop!

Who brings to us this token of doom, The darkness shall now come, Our love for this land, Is as deep as the depths of the sea. Ela i ca, Nenya sina Corma uhatima, I haryanye. Behold the light, Nenya is this, Ring unbreakable, That I possess. . The Lady of the Light, Galadriel, spoke these words when a Company, such as never seen before, entered the woods of Lothlorien and Caras Galadhon; the last stronghold of Elves that truly resembled the First Age. It was a place where time seemed to be expelled. Emotions were older and deeper. Some of the smallest of the Company said, 'more magical' - whatever they meant by that. We knew the coming of this company meant our fate had at last been sealed with that of the Weapon of the Enemy. A greater evil had not been felt in Lothlorien, yet it was but a glimpse of what would come, should the Ring Bearer fail. They had the favour of the Lady however, and as such the favour of all Elves and Men and other Free Peoples of Middle Earth that withstood the darkness that was at hand. So we gifted them with whatever they could use along their journey. All gifts fitting for their stature and quality. All but for one. A Dwarf, one of the more noble line of Durin, with whom we had not had any dealings for many years as reckoned by men. His request to the Lady was extraordinary; three threads of her golden hair, declaring that all gold and riches of the Earth fell utterly short of her beauty. Such words we never expected to hear from any, least of all from a Dwarf. Surely there must be more to Dwarves than we have yet understood. And this, however small, is a hopeful thought. If Dwarves can be so noble, then perhaps such small a Ring Bearer such as the Halfling could accomplish the impossible. Our prayers are with them. May Eru bless their quest, for the sake of all Free Peoples of Arda.

Lothlorien lacks Diversity!! It's White Elf Privilege!! SJW's demand that you let in lots of Orcs!! After all, as the argument goes, those Orcs are only "fleeing the violence" in Mordor, so the Lothlorien elves have to let them in! Right?

  • @theexile6605

@Cliven Longsight Well isn't that the standard current libtard belief, that "Diversity is our strength?" So why shouldn't the Elves just let the Orcs (not to mention all the other races of men, dwarves, halflings) come right in? Anything else would be "Racist!!" What's the problem, finding it hard to reconcile the internal contradictions in your beliefs?? Ha. Enjoy! Of course, then it wouldn't be Lothlorien anymore, would it? Cheers.

@Cliven Longsight We disagree. I've been over this before on other threads, but my main point is that uncontrolled mass immigration ineluctably leads to a debasement of whatever culture and society exists in a given nation, whether it is Hungary, Egypt, Switzerland, Japan, etc.. As an example, I have a high regard for Hungarians and a high regard for the Swiss, but I wouldn't want to see millions of Hungarians flood into Switzerland or vice-versa. As for my "lack of higher intelligence," my SAT and GRE test scores place me in the top 1% nationwide (I qualify easily for Mensa with either score), I graduated Stuyvesant H.S. in NYC and Columbia University, plus the best graduate program in the nation for my field. Can you say the same? As for the issue of "tribalism," it is you libtards who hate conservatives with a passion rarely surpassed in all of human history. Whether you are assaulting conservative speakers on campus or just people wearing Trump hats, you not only hate but are unable to control your hatred sufficiently to behave within legal boundaries. Disgraceful and contemptible. Moreover, in America it is the leftists who have pushed identity politics and tribalism in all its forms for 50 years. It was bound to cause a reaction of some kind. Lastly, materialism is hardly a right-wing concept, it is often associated with the left and Marxists. For all you know, I could be an Idealist. Many conservatives are.

@@moonlight_scribe I'm not saying that *any* race is innately evil, it's only an analogy of sorts to make a point. However, you also might like to look at the murder rates in Mexico and Central America to get a better idea of what we're dealing with. Leaping lizards! The last time I checked, the TOTAL number of annual murders in small Hispanic countries like El Salvador or Honduras is *each* higher than the TOTAL number of annual murders in China! *China* , with over 1.4 BILLION people!! Not to mention the amazingly high levels of all kinds of other crimes that go on south of our border.

I won’t be able to for a good while. But maybe, soon, I can return home. Where I belong. The place that felt it was made for me. But seriously, sometimes I REALLY want to leave this world for Middle Earth. I want to leave the drama of social media and corruption of government. I want to leave technology for magic, presidents and prime ministers for kings and queens, guns for bows and arrows, comfort zone for adventures, life for a better one. All I have with me are books, and that could be enough. Edit (Six Months Later): I’m finally back. I just arrived at Rohan with Gandalf, Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas. It’s been so long, but I’m glad to be home.

you know of course, that the elves intertwining with humans is something very real to certain cultures in this world? Those with elven blood have the chance at returning to Álfheimr, the elven homeworld upon death of their mortal bodies. In some circles of Norse and Finnic spirituality at least. And if ever I return to the smithies of my home, it shall be set in imperishable crystal to be an heirloom to my house, and a pledge of good will between the Mountain and the Wood until the end of days." I love the subtle piece of lore from one of the other books about Fëanor in the first age begging three separate times for just a single strand of her golden hair and being denied. The world has changed. I feel it in the water. I feel it in the earth. I smell it in the air. Much that once was is lost, for none now live who remember it. It began with the forging of the Great Rings. Three were given to the Elves...immortal, wisest, and fairest of all beings. Seven to the Dwarf Lords...great miners and craftsmen of the mountain halls. And nine...nine rings were gifted to the race of Men, who above all else desire power. For within these rings was bound the strength and will to govern each race, but they were all of them deceived for another Ring was made. In the land of Mordor, in the fires of Mount Doom, the Dark Lord Sauron forged in secret a Master Ring to control all others. And into this Ring, he poured his cruelty, his malice, and his will to dominate all life. One Ring to rule them all. One by one, the free lands of Middle Earth fell to the power of the Ring. But there were some who resisted. A Last Alliance of Men and Elves marched against the armies of Mordor, and on the slopes of Mount Doom, they fought for the freedom of Middle Earth. Victory was near, but the power of the Ring could not be undone. It was in this moment when all hope had faded, that Isildur son of the king took up his father's sword. Sauron, the enemy of the free peoples of Middle Earth was defeated. The Ring passed to Isildur, who had this one chance to destroy evil forever. But the hearts of Men are easily corrupted, and the Ring of Power has a will of its own. It betrayed Isildur to his death, and some things that should not have been forgotten were lost. History became legend...legend became myth...and for two and a half thousand years, the Ring passed out of all knowledge until when chance came, it ensnared a new bearer. The Ring came to the creature Gollum, who took it deep into the tunnels of the Misty Mountains...and there, it consumed him. The Ring brought to Gollum unnatural long life. For five hundred years it poisoned his mind, and in the gloom of Gollum's cave, it waited. Darkness crept back into the forests of the world. Rumor grew of a shadow in the East...whispers of a nameless fear, and the Ring of Power percieved its time had now come. It abandoned Gollum. But something happened that the Ring did not intend. It was picked up by the most unlikely creature imaginable: a Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins of the Shire. For the time will soon come when Hobbits will shape the fortunes of all.
