Fun fact: opium poppies can grow almost anywhere where a flower can grow.. they're actually harder to grow in jungle type regions as they like a drier type soil, it's why they grow so well in Afghanistan.. I'm pretty positive they'd grow in all 50 states.. especially thrive where tobacco and cotton grow.. but they'll grow almost anywhere..

If I was Thai or Lao or any kind of ethnic Tai speaking people I would have fought along side Khun Sa and the Shan people against the Burmese aggressors but I am a Farang so the entire conflict is just entertainment to me.
