As a former carpenter who built homes, I am still fascinated by the skill and the work that went into buildings like this; with all the different levels and rooms, it is incredible.

Yep! And obviously trespassing! Who do these dudes think they are?
I can’t get over all the rooms and hallways. How you lads didn’t get lost I’ll never know. I don’t think I could live in a place like this, it gives me the creeps. But I’m very interested to look inside and explore. Thank you so much for this.

I am with you on that point. How could anyone really feel "at home" in a something this huge?
Lord Nelson didn't live there, it was bought after the battle by the Crown and presented to his brother with an annual pension of £9,000 (a lot then !) It is Grade 1 listed so I hope it will be sympathetically restored and wasn't just bought by an Oligarch or similar on a whim. It would be interesting to know who owns it now.

Me to. This video inspired me to look into the ownership of that property. I came across other videos of explorers that had gone through Trafalgar Park and were contacted by the Police. HOW RIDICULOUS! The owners are just trying to cover their backs for allowing a GRADE I property to sink into the shape it has. I have discovered that the current owners live in the South WIng and have just allowed the rest of the property to disinagrate. According to other videos I have seen about this property it has now been sealed and secured. WHICH it should have been done in the first place. The House is associated with Lord Nelson, whom is on the same level as The Duke of Marlborough and the Duke of Wellington. Both of those men's homes are attractions because of the honor they brought to the United KIngdom. If the current owner can not afford it then they should look at sellling to the National Trust and not fussing when people access a home that should be a museum. to Lord Nelson. That house will always be associeted with Horatio Nelson as Blenheim Palace is with the Duke of Marlborough. The current owners are simple custodians of a property that is bigger then them. I wish someone would start a Friends of Trafalgar Park and try and get the Princes Tust involved to preserve the home that was designed to preserve the memory of Lord Nelson.

@@cjmcl3460 How exactly was I rude? I'm entitled to my opinion as well. I think you should concentrate on America's conservation as you guys like to tear down historical monuments/buildings left, right & centre.
Admiral Nelson also has a castle in Bronte Sicily called Nelson Castle or Nelson Dukedom given to him by Queen Margerhita of Spain.. A former 17th century abbey. He never lived in it. The Italian gov took over the castle, I wish they would restore it. One of the Dukes gave the surrounding lands to farmers. My family was one of those who inherited the land.
I lived in Downton and used to run past the chapel every morning. I had no idea the house was that beautiful or accessible. You've made me realise just what I missed out on. Well done and thank you for that insight.
Great deal of cooking in basement. Bread kiln, meat hooks, root cellar, well and a cook fireplace. Kept the heat down and it was cooler.

It was never Viscount Nelson's home, but given to his family after his death
The most recent owner had allowed various films shot there including "28 Days', 'Sense and Sensibility' , and 'Amazing Grace' as per Wiki. Also a place for board retreat meetings. Hopefully the restoration of the entire building goes smoothly. In the cellar, brick the stone stairs have ramped edges for probably beer or wine barrels to roll on. At least the roof seems to be intact (in contrast to the old Widener Estate outside of Philadelphia where the neglected roof has allowed rain and snow in for 60 years.). I am sure a lot of volunteers would be happy to help out with the small bits (and leave the intricate plastering, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, structural, masonry, etc..to the profressionals.) It is a massive project given all the rooms. Hopefully one day it can be turned into a complete home, and events/conference center, or an exclusive B&B for Royal Navy and Marines families. The surrounding countryside of ancient Standlynch is brilliant and lush. That music room (painted by Cipriani) is very elegant. England needs more professional restorers and should push for better support and tax breaks. IT careers get boring quick.
Amazing explore, can imagine the dances that would have been held in that ballroom xx
This place is actually in a pretty decent shape, considering the age of it. Absolutely amazing explore and great you got through it, without being caught 👏👏👏

Whoever did the restoration in the Grand rooms has done fantastic job~wonder if they're available to decorate my lounge 🤣🤣
So happy the property is secured. The idea anyone would consider stealing or damaging that gorgeous property, removing such valuable contents is unthinkable. It is magnificent and astounding it could be abandoned without being completely secured. That is utterly unbelievable.
Oh my gosh the architecture and paintings were incredible! What a beautiful beautiful palace? Absolutely stunning! Thank you so much. Cheers from California😎💜🤟🏻🇺🇸
It goes to show how the rich lived in passed times . Next to that place , I live in a corner cupboard with no candle or secret sink in the bedroom . All I can say is WOW !!! Thanks for the exclusive look round You did a fine job of videoing that exclusive manor . Stuart in Canada ..
It amazes me how many huge houses or mansions are left not secure or not checked when someone breaks in.
Huge Nelson fan here. Thanks for the tour! (US)
Didn't think I'd ever see inside here so thanks guys. Really enjoyed imagining all those rooms full of life at one time, a long long time ago ! I'm amazed it's not alarmed but glad or we'd never have seen this today 😊👌👍

I think I have enough to do with my place, but oh my gosh, that place, I wouldn't even start!! Our US Navy adopted a black neck tie at the time of Nelson's death out of respect, and never discontinued it's wearing.
Millions of quid worth of art just left without guards, the Nelson Heritage are utterly reckless to have left all of those valuables abandoned in the middle of nowhere rather than storing them. You guys basically got full run of a museum for the day.

STUNNING video STUNNING location, STUNNING KZread CHANNEL 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍
Maybe they were given permission? I just can't believe that they went in illegally and got away with it. I just can't. Thieves would be on to this. Maybe they should notify the owners to let them know that anyone can get in and ransack the place. It's only right.
Beautiful place, but it's obviously not abandoned.
What a lovely eloquent building , great find , Thank you 💜

Think you did a brilliant job in stealth exploring and not being caught - you managed to show us all the best bits in the short time you had. Your drone footage is awesome. Thanks Alex 👍👍
Absolutely beautiful! Thanks for sharing! Love your videos!
Thankyou guys really enjoyed that 😊absolutely amazing ❤ love watching your videos. Definitely my favourite to watch. Thankyou x
bautiful house , I think Rays paranoia was through the roof ,,,,,lol The historic home, built in 1733 and originally known as Standlynch Park, was acquired by Act of Parliament and given to Nelson's family to commemorate the Battle of Trafalgar victory of 1805. Aside from its architecture, the property's most impressive feature is perhaps the Music Room. The walls are hand-painted by 18th century Italian painter, Giovanni Battista Cipriani.
I have a hard time keeping up my 1500 square foot home. I can't imagine the work needed to restore and keep this place in good condition.
That was amazing guys. Loved every minute of it. Thankyou so much for sharing this. It was just WOW.

House was used in both Sense and sensibility and 28 days later movies 😀
Even the grounds, the way they used to plant trees such as cedars or oak next to the mansion is so amazing, it gives the property a sense of privacy.
Brilliant! Thanks for the tour of this beautiful and stately home guys.
Guys, this was the most interesting & riveting break in (explore) I've ever watched. I like that it was quick moving & we saw such a lot. I'll watch this again & again. Thanks!

Wonderful! Thank you! To bad you couldn't get to see it entirely . What a Great place! Be safe.
You would think that England should honor lord Nelson’s home, after all he did for his country. England has allowed the Nelson family home to fall into disrepair. It would be a great tourist attraction. It is a truly sad sight
@michaelpatterson5811
Жыл бұрын
Firstly, Patricia, it was never Nelson's home - sorry if you were misled by the video. It is just one of many property investments purchased years after his death, by his elder brother, Rev. William Nelson, who received the benefit of of all the pensions and other payments that a grateful country bestowed upon Horatio both before and after his death. Nor is the house in disrepair. It's called Trafalgar House, near Downton in the Wiltshire Avon valley, and was undergoing major refurbishment when these local lads broke in to make their video. It's now on the market, for sale, fully refurbished, through Strutt & Parker, if you'd like to make an offer! 😇 If you are interested in Nelson's story, we are having a good exchange at the top of this thread. Best wishes, Michael.
Wow amazing explore Alex, loved this what a beautiful building, can't believe it's sat empty, thanks for sharing 👍 great video, and great team, luv Eddie and ray 👍💖xx
Amazing place. Why is this beautiful mansion not lived in, I hope it is going through restoration. The wall paper is beautiful and the paintings. Surely this place will not go to ruin, thanks guys for showing this place I loved it
Thank you for showing 😘🇨🇦
Did you notice on the cellar steps that on both sides there was a smooth ramp running down ? It’s to roll the barrels down without carry them to the wine store 👍
That was amazing guy’s thank you for this great explanation!
Such a shame that you had to rush but really enjoyed seeing what we could. Thanks for sharing x
George Vanderput who died in 1800 was an admiral in Nelson navy so there’s another naval link 😀
thanks for the tour guys. I really enjoyed it!
❤ that was a spectacular old home. I very much enjoyed seeing it.
It’s kinda sad that the navy has not acquired this building for suitable purpose like a veterans home or therapy care for those with ptsd
Considering the age of this home, it's in really good condition, it should be lived in by a family or a museum, amazing place with such history, imagine if those walls could talk,
I’m glad you love to explore all these place I wish I could but too old now so I love watching all your videos thanks very much
Hope it gets 🙏 turned into a museum, so everyone can enjoy it 😊 it's beautiful

Hi I am new to your channel and loved this explore- I have liked and subscribed!😆 The part where you quickly ran down to see with the stairs going down and a “well “ would most likely have been an ice store . You actually commented that it was nice and cool there ! The well was obviously for drainage of the room! Each side of the stairs was a ramp which would have allowed the person collecting the ice to have a wheeled cart - very clever design! These ice houses were generally housed outside underground! What an absolute incredible explore, thanks for sharing!

Joolz guides of London had mentioned in his video series near the regency canal (?) that there was a big ice warehouse from which they would store ice shipped down from Iceland so it would still be ready to use in summer. Perhaps that is where that ice was distributed from but I don't know. (we have it so easy now with instant ice makers and such)

Great explore Alex with the mad Pompey he is funny .I bet a lord now is buying the place spending millions on the place at least I seen a place like that on your explore which was a joy to watch another great explore cheers👍👍👍👍
I'm glad to see it's under renovation, and I'm glad they secured it.
An amazing piece of history. I wonder why the National Trust has not taken it over.... Anyone?
Wow!!! Spectacular home! I wonder how many servants that it took to keep this place up during its heyday??? It was a real surprise to see exercise equipment. I would think that one could just walk through the home, and climb up all the stairways to get a workout!
Somebody is in restoration act and that's really nice to see to shame to get lost to decaying with time.
Yes way.....thanks for this!! There must be a huge adrenaline rush going through these adventures.
