Your information may be correct but according to my knowledge I have read the book and know that hanuman didn't defeated ahirawan by fighting against ahirawan, but when he entered patal lok he came to know that ahirawan can only be defeated by untorching the five diyas which was placed in patal lok in five direction, Then hanuman tooked his another avatar which the whole hindusim know as panchmukhi hanuman, to untorching those five diyas at once that was the only way to kill ahirawan.. From that time hanuman got one more awtar called as panchmukhi hanuman...

I know from my childhood, I was amazed when my uncle(dad’s elder brother) from a small village told me this as a bedtime story… that’s why we should have joint family or atleast stay close to each other…

I m leaving this for myself- When hanuman torched lanka and his tail was on fire he took a dip in the ocean on the way where a drop from his body is consumed by a fish giving life to "makardhavj",whereas Ravan,In order to take vengeance from lord rama for the death of his son "indrajit" asks "mahiravan" his brother to kill him, he also had a younger brother named "vibhishan". Hanuman, was gatekeeping while ram- lakshman was sleeping. Ahiravan tried alot of times but hanuman didn't let him in later he came as vibhishan and got the permission. He kidnapped ram and lakshman and took them to patal lok to kill them. Here is the catch Ahiravan was impressed by makardhavj and had made him patal lok's gatekeeper. When hanuman encountered makardhavj to rescue ram and lakshman. Makar denied him to enter as he didn't want to cheat his guru...he had already introduced hanuman abt himself but hanuman didn't believe him. So,They had a fight, hanuman won. Later, while returning with ramn and lakshaman he told them abt him...,. Later makardhavj was released from ropes and made the KING of PATAL LOK!

He defeated Makardhwaj and told him ― " मैं जब आपसे पहली बार मिला था ना, मुझे ऐसा लगा था कि आप कितने बड़े आदमी हो... और मैं कितना छोटा । कल तक मैंने अपनी जितनी भी मरवायी हो, कम से कम आज ये गलतफैमि दूर हो गयी ! In the Javanese wayang kulit puppet version, there are two son of Hanuman. Trigangga and Purwaganti. Trigangga come from Ramayana era, and Purwaganti come from Mahabharata era. Maybe Trigangga is Javanese counterpart version of Makaradwaja. Because the story of both character are similar.

I have heard about his son in Ramayana serial.

It is Prakshipt. It is not mention in valmiki Ramayana.

this scene is present in hanuman movie(the animated ones), not a new story.
