There’s also the fact that because of his backstory it might’ve been one of the reasons why he didn’t choose Snow white. Because it would’ve meant having to confront his father who the magic mirror does show in passing when talking about her. Then you have Cinderella who was the other choice who to him wouldn’t be royal since she started out as a servant to her stepmother it makes sense then why he would’ve chosen Fiona.

The death of Farquads mother is actually really haunting to think about. Shrek had a lot of mature themes and adult jokes but that’s just dark.

The most important factor for Farquaad is that he has unlimited money thanks to the mines he grew up in.

Isn't that Jeffrey Katzenberg responsible for the failures of _The Black Cauldron_ when the movie was supposed to be R-Rated? I guess that's a missed opportunity to put that reference on Shrek since he's pretty much the one who ruined it in the first place.

You know, in Lord Farquaad's defence, he was the 1st person to give Shrek an opportunity based on his capabilities, and not the way he looked. True, he probably explored the possibility that Shrek was going to die, and there would be one less fairytale creature (and an ogre, no less) in the world, but at the same time he saw something in Shrek that seemed to have a real chance of being successful. You know, a crueller man would have simply said "this ogre is too ugly to be my champion who will rescue my bride-to-be." But instead of that, Lord Farquaad decided "either he dies trying to save the Princess, and I never have to hear from him again, or he he actually does rescue the Princess and I never have to hear from him again because I gave him that swamp to live in."Also, an argument could be made that Some of Lord Farquaad's ancestors used to hold tournaments when they needed someone to do something on their behalf. Nothing that cruel there. Just tradition.

Not to mention, Farquaad probably thought that there was no way Fiona would fall for Shrek. If he sent one of his men, and they were successful, there was a high chance that Fiona would fall for them because they were human.

Am I delusional, or is this the funniest documentary about political domination I’ve ever watched?

If I remember the story from the Princess and the Pea, she ended up married to the prince because she passed the test. And Grumpy has worked with his brothers from the beginning, they're going to have to look for another dwarf. Even though it's a reasonable explanation to be grumpy... I mean who wouldn't be with a son like Farquaad... and his rotten attitude towards Snow White at the beginning because as a princess he would be reminded of his dead wife (had he been married)...

Lord Farquaad is my favorite Animated Villain. He is so under-rated compared to other shrek characters, gets small recognition, and lastly has the shortest screen time in the movie.

Farquaad is definitely a villain that makes one laugh half the time, but one can also feel bad for him considering his childhood. Also the DuLoc song sounds like a parody of It's A Small World

This video brings me a smile to my face, my school was supposed to open Shrek the Musical tonight. The Ballad of Farquaad is one of the best songs in the show and reveals a lot about the original villain of Shrek.

The ballad if fraquad is about his back story

He is based on the former Disney CEO Michael Eisner, as Jeffrey Katzenberg (one of the founders of DreamWorks and a former executive of Disney) holds some animosity towards Eisner for firing him in 1994 at the age of 43. Farquaad may also be based on the late Napoleon Bonaparte, due to being short, yet ruling with an iron fist and crowning himself to the king. He may also be based on the late Andrew Jackson, the 7th President of the United States as he forces fairytale creatures from their home while Andrew Jackson signed the Indian Removal Act in 1830 that led to the forced removal of the Indians of the Five Civilized Tribes called the Chickasaw, the Creek, the Seminole, the Cherokee, and the Choctaw.

Napoleon was not actually short; he was actually of an average height for men during his time period. He was merely mocked as short by his enemies because, unlike other world leaders at the time, he didn’t use shoes and chairs to make himself seem taller. Also, the Andrew Jackson connection seems a bit flimsy. There is a similarity there, but I think it likely that the Filmmakers were going for more of a Hitler vibe. They obviously couldn’t show Fairy Tale creatures being enslaved or slaughtered onscreen, though, so they merely showed them being evicted from a “perfect” society.

Bro, I didn't even realize that mama bear became a rug that's so crazy to me! I've watched this movie so many times and never realized.

Please do a video about Shrek’s Donkey and a theory surrounding his backstory and why Donkey was formerly a human before he was transformed into the talking donkey we all know and love and he loves to make us laugh!

Ok so it's interesting to note; Farquaad hated fairy tale characters yet he utilized the magic mirror from the story of Snow White to seek out his "perfect queen". He couldn't have hated them that much if he utilized the magic mirror. Yes, the mirror was able to provide useful information past the kingdom of Duloc but still, Farquaad kept the mirror while he banished everyone else. Double standards much? (My apologies if this has already been mentioned)

So Farquaad was actually a mini Hitler in a lot of ways😂😂 Which would make even more sense for him choosing Princess Fiona, because she was actually based on an old German story about Broomhilda and Siegfried, which actually is certainly depicted in the movie when Shrek goes to rescue her from her castle prison..

If that could even happen. Disney is kinda being as hurt by the current situation as other things are.

Farquaad wasn’t just trying to have a perfect world, he was also preparing for war. Think about it. Lords are sworn to the service of their king. So essentially by marrying a princess and having children with her, he could claim autonomy over his lands and bring in the wife’s kingdom as an ally to fight off his master. Likely, if he had married Fiona with no hiccups, Far Far Away would be force to participate in the war.

His kingdom low key reminds me of North Korea’s main city it’s massive ‘perfect’ but empty and quiet even and the people who live their have to follow a lot of strict rules and follow commands.

The fact that we see the 7 dwarves in chains being led away in the scene that introduces Donkey and Pinocchio means that Farquaad had his father and uncles arrested and deported. I wonder if someone else turned them in and claimed money for them or if Farquaad himself told the knights where to round them up at.

What strange is that Farquuad suposedly killed Mama Bear abd turned her into a skate rug, but then we see her alive and well at the end of the movie and in Shrek's Kareoke dance party.

Do you notice on TV and movies, whenever there is a character who is a jerk or kind of pathetic/loser, they very often make him short and then make fun of him for being short as if being short is somehow connected to having character flaws. Shrek was an ugly ogre but he was the protagonist. Lord Farquad was a handsome, prince. Well how do you get the audience to hate him? Just make him short.

I watched the one about Charming’s father. Did anyone think that Charming could have been related to Farquaad in some way? If he is a prince, he had to have come from royalty somehow. (Someone said they thought the fairy godmother abducted him and then corrupted his mind to think like her). @@JaggedBird I saw the musical on netflix and they have Lord Farquaad "step" on his dancers in a song which you couldn't do unless the actor is dancing on his knees for most of the song.

What's strange you get to see Muffin Man and Mabel being sweet to each other in the ending of Shrek Thriller whether that short movie was canon or not and didn't Muffin Man had a wife as in married? Hmm I wonder if he broke up with his wife.

To this very day i have no idea who Gingy is saying is married to the Muffin Man

I wish they didn’t kill him in the first one but instead in the second one I wanted to see more of his character

I think the reason he hated fairy tales was because they reminded him of his dad and mom and the role he might be forced into a dwarf who works in the mines

I'm a big fan of this channel 😊👍

I bet Papa bear and Baby bear were very sad when they heard what happened to Mama bear.

It is actually really sad he shares a similar back story to Shrek but both handled it differently

I was today years old when I realized just how messed up this villain is.

Seems to make sense he amassed his fortune by stashing away jewels and diamonds he was mining as he grew up. Considering how devious he can be, I can see him stealing from his own. He wouldn't have seen himself as a dwarf, anyway.
