    The craziest part about the Night's Watch mutiny is that Jon is the first Lord Commander in centuries to do the actual job of a Lord Commander: protect the living from the Others. And they kill him for it

    In this battle we see named characters making small mistakes and instantly dying. In the Long Night we watch scene after scene of characters being swarmed with 3+ wights literally on top of them, scene cuts, and they are suddenly fine next scene. It's an insult to the narrative of their own show and the viewer's intelligence

Then 10 MINUTES LATER she lands Drogon in an open field for the meeting with Cersei, in front of multiple of the same weapon that just annihilated her kid two scenes ago. It wasn’t the real big bad, Craster has been doing this for years providing vessels for the night king he might have been a night prince but this isn’t the long night or the end of the white walkers, it would be like killing off one of the sharks and saying that’s the end of the starks, the show runners got key points of the next steps but the end of season 8 is half way through the real long night and big bad that needs to take over in order for the prophecy to come true

    @@Seraphim7996 I dunno lol it just makes sense to me that they are teeing John up with his new series, they made a point of saying Drogon was heading towards Old Valeria at the end and John has gone beyond the wall, he will discover that this wasn’t even the beginning and all there armies are trashed. John needs to come back to kings landing to speak with his brother (the bowl cut rain man) where Tyrion will tell John where Drogon was last seen. For whatever reason the 3 eyed raven king bowl cut won’t be able to see Drogon and John will be forced to head out to old Valeria to find him making a tense reunion and a ton of cool stuff to explore along with a ton of new horrors But yeah everyone called him the night king but there was never any sort of conformation that he was the top of the food chain Plus I really want to see Jon on a dragon Vs the real night king riding an ice spider 😁

    Yes, but the point of the show isn't that objective problems (as we would call them, "evil") are the true cause of struggle in the world, but the selfish ambitions of people. That's why Dany and Cersei are the ultimate villains instead of the Night King, because they represent the idea of selfish ambition for power - one masks it, the other doesn't. The Night King could be viewed as nothing more than a force of nature, he's just acting according to his nature - but the various schemers around the Iron Throne, they aren't compelled in any way to act how they do. You can even translate the issue to real life - global warming is a real and deadly threat tearing more and more lives apart every day, yet notmuch is done about it because it would "endanger private profits" - how is that any different than Cersei pledging to help fight the Night King but choosing to consolidate her position without helping? Of course, it is strange why JRR Martin chose to have two women represent this particular human evil, when in real life it is almoat exclusively represented by men (Tywin is the closest to the portrayal of an evil ambitious man, but I fell he was cast with much more symphathy than Cersei or Dany).

  • @Russeren01

    @Russeren01

    2 ай бұрын

    @@vebdaklu wow dude! Well said! That is exactly how I thought about The Night king and the White walkers. They aren’t really the evil, but a force of nature. Like a metaphor for global warming. Everyone in Westeros denying this world ending threat is a very good parallel to the real world, that humans greedy and ignorant struggle for power, resources, wealth and status when there is lurking this civilisation ending threat. That we needed this unity and cooperation if we were to survive, exactly what Jon Snow had been doing all this time. The ironic thing is also from HOTD they explained the reason for Aegon conquering/uniting the seven realms and making the Iron throne was because of his dream of the threat from the north. Meaning that all this struggle for the Iron throne, the power and all the events in the show has its roots with the threat from the north. Like all these events can trace back to that. But all this just makes the fight for throne meaningless, because the very reason for making throne and uniting the seven realms was because of the White Walkers. It suggests that the political machinations and battles for power that dominate much of the series are ultimately distractions from the true threat. The ending just undermines everything about the story. It is so anti-climatic and disappointing how they executed it. Like, they could have easily killed the Night king on the dock in season 5 with an arrow tipped with dragonglass/valyrian steel. Would make more sense that his only weakness would be only one thing, i.e Lightbringer which the heroes would struggle to make. Season 8 was terrible, so many plotholes and idiotic writing. Like it was easy to stop global warming, barely an inconvenience. Such stupid. All this buildup for nothing. Everything becomes boring and one dimensional when they so easily fixed the apocalypse. What was the point of “Winter is coming” even. All this also explains why Cersei or Dany not should have been the final villains. (I was not okay with dany becoming a villain. They ruined her character also). Because the theme and narrative was that this struggle for the throne didn't really matter, but the unity of humanity. Essentially season 8 message was that backstabbing, schemes, struggle for power mattered. How is that a good message to tell everyone. Point of stories is to give you an experience and often times as inspiration and motivation. How is backstabbing a good message for humanity? That we should just keep on being aholes towards each other?

    1:30 is one of the best moments from Game of Thrones. You get so caught up in the intrigue and rivalries and battles between humans that you forget that that this world is magical and ancient, filled with things that a person in Kings Landing would never have even heard of. Just seeing these *things* watching as the massacre unfolds makes you realize that all the drama south of the wall is meaningless in the face of Night.

    Regardless of how the end of the show turned out, I always really enjoyed Jon Snows character in the show. Minus all the mah queen stuff, his character development is so crazy. For those saying the White Walker had many opportunities to kill Jon. First move, he was quickly trying to separate Jon from the Dragonglass. Second move was a flip of his spear-blade to the blunt end after successfully having shattered Jon's picked-up blade with the other end. It was part of a combo, and it included Jon landing on his back on the floor below, further hurting him. Finally, when he approached him outside he was coming at him with a killing blow. Valerian steel blocked it, to both their surprise. Then he tried AGAIN to kill him without making contact with the Longclaw but... Lord Commander Jon Snow is an experienced SWORDSMAN, so he PARRIED the strike and then killed the White Walker. The scene makes sense, Jon does not have unbearable plot armor here.

I was not expecting the dead to come out of nowhere, and when the Night King raised his new army with Jon just helplessly watching showed just showed the audience how powerful these guys really were. After this episode I literally just sat there and was like what the f*** did I just watch, but this was a very powerful scene. Too bad they ruined the Night King's ending and this entire story arc.
