Loved it Cathy! I've been paying attention when I'm doing these types of exercises and despite my attempts I move away from the beautiful freedom your work evokes and keep coming back to more structured shapes and compositions. I'm attempting not to judge it though because maybe that is my style. Thanks for posting - always enjoy seeing you work and hearing your thoughts along the way. ❤

Hi Paul! You are not alone! Perfectionism gets in the war for most of us at some point. We have the need to be in control for so many reasons. I remember actually having to give myself permission to make bad art. We also have a brain that wants to make sense of everything, so that makes it extra hard. We also love adding recognizable things when we feel stuck, just because we don’t know what else to do. That’s when color theory and composition become important. Knowledge really does help us through the tough parts! 🩵

I love those colors together! Also, what’s going on with your palette, is that paper or something over a wet cloth?

Thanks Marie. Glad you enjoyed it. 💗The palatte is just a tray with disposable dish cleaning wipes that I wet before covering it with wax paper. It prevents my acrylic paint fra drying when it's hot outside. Hope this helps! 👍Here is a link to the cleaning wipes: amzn.to/3X7F7qZ
