See this is something I always find strange. People say that New is Soultronica, but every "soultronica" playlist I can find sounds nothing like New (and the genre itself is so obscure I can't find any kind of definition for it). It's definitely unique (though not completely the first of it's sound in korean music, Lim Kim's Upgrader and Puer Kim's Emeralds are examples that predate it, but still probably idol pop), but the song and the songs that sound like it don't really fit "soul + electronica". It's more like an subgenre of 80s-style synthpop that doesn't have a name yet. Makes finding songs with a similar sound incredibly difficult :/

you've mentioned on learning their positions. All Loona members have no official positions, just to tell you in advance. They are all main for everything, like main rappers, main vocalists and main dancers. That's cool right!

Fun fact! Yves (pronounced Eve) only had 3 weeks of training before being picked to debut and Olivia Hye only had 1 day before she started prepping for debut (they already had the music, lyrics and choreography ready)

Yves was part of a hiphop dance crew and before joining BlockBerry she also almost made to Elris final lineup... the 3 weeks is only under BBC.Yeah Olivia joined the company and started preparing for both her solo and yyxy right in the next day but is unclear if she had any sorta of pro training beforehand or her dancing background was purely amateur practice.

I think it’s actually just a random sound if u listen to Monotree’s (the composers) interview but that’s a pretty fun observation

@@hella7361 debateable. That's how it's spelt in Korean, but Yves isn't a traditional Korean name, so korean pronunciation shouldn't apply, however, either pronunciation (eve, ibu) should be acceptable.

Singing in the rain is probably my favorite solo song, i lose my sh*t everytime i listen to it, can’t wait for you to listen max & match by odd eye circle

On 16:45 its actually a blood plum .. yyxy subunit members have representative Fruits Yves with apples Chuu with strawberry Gowon witg pineapple And Olivia Hye with blood plum. Its their version on the “forbidden fruit” they bite it and something happens to them on the MV :) gonna leave it at that since i know you don’t care for the lore :)

“We all have a dream about wanting to fly” is like the perfect way to describe Loona and Orbits! And it basically summarizes all the loonalore sksksks

lore related stuff: for Yves, in the mv it shows a lot of apples and it’s a biblical reference since her name is pronounced Eve and her fruit (the apple) is tempting her to exile from eden. Vivi and Choerry are there in the mv which shows Yves’ connections to them. Yves’ music video is very dark in color but it starts of bright which shows that she wanted to be holy but then gives into her temptations and later tempts the rest of yyxy.

Am i allowed to make kinda like a serious comment? lol just realized something and i think i shouldn't keep it in. basically: one of my bff's is a huge loona stan and she's been trying to get me to stan for the longest time and i didn't seem to be able to fall in love with them but now that you have begin this journey, i feel like: i need to stan like holy crap they're soo goooood wtf. I was like: why? and i think is because the kpop industry is just soo active, like there's always comebacks, new groups and you feel a bit like watching everything sort of involved in this palli palli lifestyle but sometimes you just listen not paying attention and this is what i love the most about fifi's reaction, is like inviting to take the time to listen with her, i love it! and i guess that made a difference this time, i took the time to listen and is hella good! thank u fifi

I was kinda hesitant to recommend this since you mentioned RnB is your favorite but hearing your music taste and the way you enjoyed the complexity of Loona's discography I must urge you to listen to Loona 1/3's Sonatine! also, for lore related stuff: jinsoul is said to be the villain of the loonaverse and she is related to vivi. jinsoul’s color is mixed with black and blue which shows that she has a darker side in the lore. her representative color is really shown in the mv. the fish scene represents her trying to find the correct time and place in the loonaverse to teleport to as that’s her power in the lore.

Okay look, i think i'm gonna take this shot, since no one recommended to you yet, and so far your opinion and taste with LOONA's music pretty much mirrored mine. For you to listen to the member Vivi's solo track "Everyday I Love You". It is what you can classify more as the "cutesy/feel good" type of song, however i'm very much loving the melody and the synths (for me it's more a 90's synth vibe). To the extend that i found myself keep on coming back to this song, even though it really not a typical genre of a song that i listen to. This is one of the underrated/overlooked LOONA's solo song tbh, so if this somehow pique your interest, please give it a try 😊.

The first time I listened to Egoist I had goosebumps every 10 seconds, it took me like 20 minutes to listen to it I was constantly pausing because of goosebumps lmao it’s incredible

Your reactions always make my day. The details you pick up on in the songs usually end up making the songs even more fun to listen to. I became a huge fan of Loona after going back through their discography, because so much of it I absolutely loved. The other mv with the apple was Heart Attack. Chuu actually has a strawberry as her fruit, but her story’s tied with Yves (hence the apple). They’re also in the same subunit as Olivia and another member, Gowon. Yyxy’s Love4eva is on the cuter side, but it’s also got a lot of synths in it too. At first, I didn’t think you’d end up liking Egoist and Singing in the Rain as much as you did, but I’m so happy they also ranked high! This Loona series, but also the Dreamcatcher and Mamamoo one have been my favourites, but your other videos have also given me so much appreciation for other artists I don’t stan.

After watching a lot of your videos, I'm pretty sure you will like all of loona's predebut music. Oh and it looked like you really liked Yves' voice so I recommend you her song D-1

jinsoul's solo was the one i heard and saw on tumblr that caught my attention, i was like this group is so obnoxious releasing solo single before debut and look where am i now. simping for all 12 members lmao

the fact that these 3 (+ Eclipse) are my top Loona Solo's. But Loona songs are always BOPS and u never know what to expect. olivia hye acc has the record in all of kpop history for having the shortest trainee period which was 1 day. and for the clip at the end of Egoist w/ the 2 girls, its Olivia Hye and Heejin. Heejin is acc the 1st Loona girl to debut and Olivia Hye is the 12th or the last to debut, so its like the first meets the last of the start meets the beginning type thing.

When you described that LOONA's music as so "me", that's exactly how I felt when I first discovered LOONA when Heejin first debuted and with every release since then. It's just that LOONA difference.

If you're still looking to do more M/Vs the next ones I recommend are: Everyday I Love You (by Vivi). You've already seen Vivi in Yves' MV so I think that's be great to get the whole picture of the Roller Skating scene (plus this song is my personal favorite of the 1/3 girls) One & Only (by Go Won). She's the last member of the 3rd sub-unit (yyxy) that you need to watch the MV for. Love4eva (by LOONA/yyxy). Let's dive into another subunit. I think you'll vibe with this song A LOT.

I'd put Gluetooth on my cue and the synths immediately blew me away. The occasional breaks in the top line were also really cool and I can see where some of Loona's music could be compared to it, like Girl Front or Hi High's occasional breaks (though this feels a lot darker than that). The ending also made me crack up with the asmr-type whispering. Midnight Special: I can definitely see how some of the ways the synths progress is similar to the one breakdown in Egoist. This one's 'brighter' than Egoist (because that songs a bit of an 'aggressive self-love' song, especially with the visuals and lyrics). I also love the continuous use of syncopated beats But honestly, thank you so much for those song recommendations. I've now got two artists I need to listen to more, because one of the things I love about Loona are their instrumentals, and these two songs took that element and pushed it to the foreground.

For a guide, I would recommend “Guide to Loona - 2020” by Kyle Orbit. Very quick but pretty good for someone starting out! HOWEVER, it has spoilers of their solo songs, so please keep that in mind!

Fun fact: Son Hyejoo aka Olivia Hye was only a trainee for 1 day before she was chosen to be the last member for Loona, and she just HAD to drop a bop ass solo... My heart can't handle

jinsoul represents the color blue and the blue betta fish. Her putting the betta into an aquarium full of goldfish represents being unique in a sea of "common people." or just straight out slaying the goldfishes LOL. yves represents the color burgundy and the swan. Her attire, moves, and posture reminds me of a swan. And also tons of apples because her sub-unit, Loona yyxy, is the "eden sub-unit." olivia represents the color black/grey(?) and the wolf. Her MV has tons of imagery about falling, fallen angels and the like, because like yves, olivia belongs to the "eden sub-unit."
