Lookup the Last Matching Value - Google Sheets
If you've worked with most lookup functions (like VLOOKUP, LOOKUP, etc.) it will bring back the first matching value in the range you selected. However there may be times when you want to see the last matching value from your lookups. In this video it will go through two examples of how to get the last matching value from a lookup with Google Sheets. One will be using the LOOKUP function (along with other functions) and the other will be a crazy combination of INDEX, IF, ARRAYFORMULA, ROW AND LARGE.

Hello Thanks for the tutorial video its help me a lot, but in my recent data i have some issues where formula "Lookup(2;1;...)" didnt make a result from the source data. Im using source data in different sheets but still in 1 file spreadsheet. is it have a different formula to take to make array lookup data from different sheets? TIA.

This was so helpful, especially the instruction on how to use the arrayformula with the lookup for unsorted rows of information. I was wondering if you have a video or could share an example formula on how to actually pull all of that from a different Google Sheet spreadsheet.different sheet. I thought an Importrange would work but I can't seem to figure it out. Thanks in advance.

Hi Brooke Roberts-Higgins, thanks for the comment! If it's a worksheet on the same workbook that the clicking to that sheet as part of the formula writing should put it in there. If it's a sheet in a different workbook the importrange() should have worked. Maybe a future video to cover this 😃

Since we're working with dates here, A simpler approach will be like this: =QUERY(DATA, "select A where B = '"&D1&"' order by B desc limit 1". Do you have a way to use one of the functions that you showed, but to have them wrapped up in arrayFormula? The way it is right now, since it's already an array, it's not possible to automatically be dragged down. Thanks for a great video and an even grater trick :) Would love to hear your opinion.
