Looking Unto Jesus (part 2) - Pastor Stephen Bohr || Worship Service (8/19/23)

Sabbath School - Ephesians - Lesson 8
Sermon Title: Looking Unto Jesus (part 2) - Pastor Stephen Bohr
Intro from the lesson quarterly: In the Epistle to the Ephesians, Paul tells us about the Ephesians themselves. Years after the exciting events of the early days of Christian mission in Ephesus, the Ephesians struggled with the significance of their Christian faith. Paul spends a good deal of his letter expressing his excitement for this new pattern of what it means to be human through membership in God’s church. He is especially invigorated by the thought that God has joined estranged segments of humanity-Jews and Gentiles-as one in the church. In living out unity where hostility would be expected, they have an opportunity to exhibit the characteristics of God’s new society and the coming kingdom. 🌏

1:23:40 That Jesus cried "My God, My God ..." as opposed to "My Father, My Father ..." only scratches the surface of how abandoned Jesus felt. We will never know it. In one of his previous sermons, Pastor Bohr explained this is why Revelation 19:12 states Jesus has a name no man can know - the name being His suffering and death. Many of us think our Heavenly FATHER abandons us during certain trials that are dark. But scripture shows our FATHER never abandons us but that it is our sins that envelop us in the darkness that shuts the FATHER out (Isaiah 59:2). It is our sins that made our Saviour Jesus feel that His FATHER had abandoned HIM. May our Heavenly FATHER help us to strive harder to overcome those aspects of our fallen nature that seem impossible to conquer and to remember that HE is always near, in Jesus' name, amen.

To often people are passive when issues arise because it is easier to not rock the boat and the church becomes a church of cowards. The pride of man continues to grow when let to grow unchecked. This whole Bible study is a rebuke to those who don't want to hear it's teaching. Cowards will not enter into the Kingdom of God. Jeremiah 13:15; Hear and give ear: Do not be proud, for the Lord has spoken.

“To stand in defense of truth and righteousness when the majority forsake us, to fight the battles of the Lord when champions are few-this will be our test.” Testimonies for the Church, vol. 5 p. 136.2. “If every watchman on the walls of Zion had given the trumpet a certain sound, the world might ere this have heard the message of warning. But the work is years behind. While men have slept, Satan has stolen a march upon us.” Testimonies For The Church 9:29 (1909).

I have always learned that the Holy Spirit convicts of sin so we know when we are in the wrong. When we sin it gives us a guilt we need to get rid of through repentance and ASKING forgiveness! When we push away this conviction of sin and tell (our conscience) the Holy Spirit oh this or that is not so bad God knows I mean well! That is the point of grieving the Holy Spirit because guilt will stay with us! When guilt stays with us and we meet our God we will not survive the meeting because sin cannot exist in the vicinity of God which will have consequences. If sin is still in us, (if not all our sin is forgiven because we consciously thought it was not that bad what we have done when the Spirit was convicting us of the nature of our actions) we will not survive meeting our God! Satan knows this and doesn't care if we kill someone or just don't like our neighbor or hate our brother or try to sneak some kind of pet sin past our family members or church members. Even that can all be right and just a little crooked believe of a doctrine that is not exactly like we can accept it because it asks to much from us because we want to believe different ways! You can fill in anything! Satan likes the detailed tiny little lies to make us lose eternity by the smallest measure! Not listening to the Holy Spirit is grieving Him!

HappySabbath! Doesn’t Levin in this discourse mean the Holy Vs the evil Spirit in our daily lives. Jesus warned of levin of Scribes and Pharisees which most of whom had evil spirits. Don’t you think?

As a whole, too much is said about too many things. Jesus did not jabber on. Generally His words were few, carefully chosen and to the point. Our speech should be of a similar quality. Help us Holy Spirit to know what to say, how and when to say it and then to be quiet.

Why don't you share the following with TED WILSON, MARK FINLEY and the GC sabbath school secretary??>>>>>>>Ephesians is 155 verses long. MOST SDA sabbath school class teachers & members will not even read all 155 verses over the 13 weeks in class. It takes just 12 verses each sabbath. The classes will just discuss and argue over the lesson and topics, LIKE USUAL!! Most churchgoers , including SDA, have never read the whole bible or even the whole new testament ONCE!
