During the cold war, the Air Force had "high-speed" snow plows for runways. Capable of plowing at 50 plus MPH. The plows were able to "reverse " the blade at the end of the runway for the return trip. The whole plow would lift hydraulically and turn to change the direction of the windrow. I believe they were FWD special builds.

They don't seem to be as popular as they once were. Most towns just spec out a tandem truck nowadays and hope it doesn't get stuck.

We had plows like this in the Michigan UP Copper Country. With over 300 inches a year of snow to deal with, the county had so many they didn't even put boxes on them, just huge concrete slugs.

Unless you have experienced it most people have no idea what it takes to clear the roads in the winter . It takes a lot of big equipment . You need to do your next video on the snow blowers that are used . DOT in Lockport has one that uses a 400 Cummings just to run the blower , man can it throw some snow !!!!

Stop by Town of Washington, NY and ask about their Paystar sander. Straight plow, not a V-plow; they run a lot of dirt roads, and they're not wide enough for a V-plow. But it's a hell of a truck. Watched the driver tow a loaded tractor-trailer out of a snow bank one night. It was quite a sight. 😁
